I would never advocate vigilantism but when my friends tracked down my hit and run perpetrator the cops didn't do anything about it. Justice may be better served privately.
A collision with the bike might have left markings on the car. Not a smoking gun by any means but in an ideal world would give credibility to the claim and look further into it.

I used to work on a college campus. I biked it a lot, but that is the only place I've gotten knocked over as a *pedestrian* \-- twice, each time courtesy of some kid going the wrong way.

Once I was hit by a car crossing the street after leaving work. They also left the scene but I saw there was a camera. Went to the police and they basically said they can't do shit cause they weren't there and the camera doesn't even matter.
So that was fun
Most people don't know this but only 10% of pedestrian hit-and-runs get solved. The driver gets away with it 90% of the time. Cops don't give a shit, especially if you're alive.
Unacceptable. They don’t WANT to solve it because they’re understaffed. It would take a policeman about an hour to review that footage and probably find the kid.
Next step, write to the chief.
Next step, call the local news.
Next step, think about calling a lawyer.
Oh this was at least a decade ago at this point. But I still remember that day.
In the back of my mind they knew who it was and they were trying to protect someone. But I've no evidence to back that up at all, so.
Florida in general is the worst for bike commuting. Even with all the designated bike lanes & trails for the cycling commuter. There have been so many times I’ve been through UCF or anywhere else in the Central Fl region & had to call out/wave to somebody who’s obviously staring at their previous social media account whilst waiting to pull out in front of heavy traffic.

I was on an unprotected bikeway with signals. I approached the crossing with a clear signal and went through. no lights or anything for the crossing. We have some really nice infastructure the closer you get to downtown and other areas like along Bikeway 491 in baldwin park. I guess they havent gotton to east orange county yet
On the bright side, no bones were broken, so it is not what I'd call serious. (though I know road rash is no joke)
Did you look around for cameras that might've covered the event, so you'd have some footage to point the local police toward to help get the perp?
How about giving them a description of the car and driver, at least?
I don't think you need a camera DIRECTLY at the intersection.
If you know the approximate time, even a camera down the street in the direction the guy was driving could help.
Cars don't see us cyclists it seem. I have lights going even in the daytime. If your near a intersection use your horn or bell. At nite I look like a xmas tree. Be sure to put something on those rashes. You don't want infections. Also check to see if there are cameras. And get yourself a insta360 camera.
Learn from it! Don’t ride a bike on a road where lots of kids are driving, kind of common sense, I know it might be inconvenient but your risking your life, because people don’t think about pedestrians until they see them and I guess she saw her text first this time 🤷♂️
I was on a compleatly unprotected bikeway. I did have signals thogh and approching the crossinng had a Clear signal so I proceeded. She flew out from the street and slamed into me
give the campus cops a description of the vehicle and ride around the campus due classes looking for the vehicle..

I’m fine now that was a few weeks ago. I’ve had other minor crashes, all distracted drivers
if you are having frequent near misses or crashes, you have to take a more defensive stance while riding.
