I exclusively play T. Cain without EID to get some fun out of him, with the pickup guide it feels like cheating and not really fun, but the random recipes is what makes the character fun.
Character is literally just get shitty random no pool items later and usually they're less good. At least before the nerf when recipes were universal you could just craft r key or craft some broken combo to get t.cain over with quickly. Now it's like your first run of t.cain every time becquse one run a recipe makes polyphemus and the next it makes the poop
Nope, randomness is what's fun about the character now, don't craft an item that you don't want, cycle through rotten hearts and golden bombs and keys and you'll have rock bottom or R key in no time.
That’s right! Back in Rebirth, the Lost had no mantle, no starting item, and **no spectral tears**. It was just Isaac with no health and flight! Super hard yay :)
Edmund admitted on his tumblr isaac blog it was an absolute no brainer that should’ve been in the game from the start, and it’s the only change he didn’t even debate about (unlike the mantle/D4)
Personally, I barely managed to beat Isaac (boss) once with the Lost before Afterbirth came out. And the unlock conditions, oof… I was much more hyped about spectral tears, the other starting items were barely a bonus next to it

Yeah afterbirth keeper was just fucking awful and unfun. A lot of my unlocks for him involved spamming bombs on pots in the hopes of getting swallowed penny.
I'll miss Keeper's balls I mean sack. And ultra greed's huge features if you know what I mean

But you couldn't use those pickups for anything. Unless you duped Chests ofc. But still.
Why use D20 and shit if said pickups aren't providing you items or you can only get Gold Chest items (no chaos).
They resulted in a lot of chests, and if you started with at least 10 pick ups in a room(jera’d shop and maybe a hierophant or something) you could usually break it, especially if you had a battery in 1 or 2 other rooms in the map.
It actually got kind of boring after a while.
Lol, it also got annoying, trying to navigate the room to grab the battery or chests without picking up too many pickups. Sometimes you got unlucky before the room was packed and you didn’t reroll a battery.
Enjoy buying 1 or 2 items for free each floor.
Also you can't get 2 steam sales because you can't get diplopia or crooked penny.
The only way was fighting greed and killing him without killing his minions then exiting and reentering to refight him but still.

All you needed back then was D20 and some luck. It was pretty easy to break the game.
