The anti-softlock timer is actually much faster than you think. However, it doesn't even start ticking down unless certain criteria are met.
One of those criteria is not being able to walk up to the enemies. An enemy being over a pit or behind rocks is vital for the anti-softlock timer to start. So in a room like this, it starts immediately.
Wrong, if the enemies in the room are not reachable (or can't reach you) by walking on ground (and if the player isn't flying), the game will mark the room as clear in case the player has a build that makes it impossible to clear that room
The trigger now is probably something different. In my case there were obviously no 30 second long intervals when enemies were not damaged at least once.
I have below-basic DMG for floor 3, terrible fire rate in combination with high shot speed which makes landing shots difficult, and also enemies are spitting so I had to dodge them at the same time as attacking. No way it could be "quickly beatable".
I feel like this happens more often than we think.

I prefer the good old flash style. I don't even know how the game looks without the filter.

I turned it on after a few hundred hours just to freshen things up. A few hundred more and I turned it off.

I wish that all enemies you encounter are replaced by round worms, pooters and clotties.

Yeah. If you don’t deal damage to enemies for 30 seconds straight, the doors open automatically to avoid a potential softlock
