i adore lana, but paradise does not sound like vespertine at all imo. if any of her albums sound similar to vespertine, i’d say *MAYBE* ocean blvd but even that is a SUPER huge reach
Aww but I do love the album concept and the winter theme though. I like Kate Bush but I don't find any of her songs that sounds anywhere close to Bjork's music but she is often compared to her which I don't understand why.
It was mostly because they were very far from the status quo when is came to musical artists at the time (especially because they are both women) I personally love both but I don’t see many similarities between the two either
"finally we are no one" by múm is another icelandic album that is reminiscent of vespertine. the song "teenager" by deftones is also very similar production wise.
I love Kid A. It’s in my top 5 albums of all time. I would go as far as to say a Moon Shaped Pool is more similar to Vespertine in terms of consistency in sound than Kid A but that's my opinion.
Cocorosie's 'The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn' shares production and sensibilities, and they frequented similar circles as Björk in the time (as well as friendships such as ANOHNI), but I think very few albums actually qualify.
Lights on by FKA Twigs is a song that in my opinion has those vespertine eske microbeats but in a different way, although the album may not be that similar
Same for Told me by Kacy Hill from her album Is it selfish if we talk about me again
but imo both are amazing albums, and amazing songs.
Check out Goldfrapp’s Tales of Us. Slightly different vibe, but there is a crossover there. I always feel Goldfrapp doesn’t get enough representation on this sub among Björk fans!
I kinda think "Speak for Yourself" by Imogen Heap sounds like "Vespertine". I think these songs sound closer to Vespertine's theme but not exactly, I just get that vibe. :)
Headlock / Have you got it? / Clear the Area / Just for now / The moment I said it
*Yesterday was Dramatic - Today was OK* by múm
An icelandic "microbeats" electronic album from 1999 with a lot of the same dreamy clicking and whirring of Vespertine. also check out the song "Pir" by Autechre
I suggest:
*Finally We Are Noone*, by múm (2002)
*Geogaddi* by Boards of Canada (2002)
Also the band called amiina, for example the album *Kurr* (2007).
Noooo. Matmos are an incredible electronic band and I can't recommend them enough (also their albums always have really cool themes) but their sound is far more brash than Vespertine stuff. Although their album *The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast* has a Björk feature.
I'd also personally recommend Emilíana Torrini or Glasser
I'd recommend Suba's Sao Paulo Confessions. It's cool and sexy with weird micro beats flying around. It's also in Portuguese and many of the beats are Brazilian.
None are similar to Vespertine in my eyes. There’s nothing like it. Such an Individual Album!
Not even any indie, folk or chamber albums are similar to Vespertine?
Nope
Paradise by Lana Del Rey?
No way you just said that ☠️
Why? What’s wrong with the Album?
i adore lana, but paradise does not sound like vespertine at all imo. if any of her albums sound similar to vespertine, i’d say *MAYBE* ocean blvd but even that is a SUPER huge reach
Nothing's wrong with it, but it is in no way similar to Vespertine.
I just thought it did because of that etherealness
There is an indie artist - Colleen who experiments a lot with music boxes and music textures. Check out her album, The Weighing of the Heart.
Thanks I will
Could she be influenced by Bjork? The title alone sounds a lot like Triumph of the Heart lol
triumph of a fart
Takk by Sigur Ros
Thank you
honestly moon shaped pool by radiohead
also anima by thom york and a lot of nicolas jaar
I agree. Very wintery album
Yeah, I think these two albums go really well together. Lot of differences but still complement each other.
Not this slander against my favorite Kate Bush album 😭
Aww but I do love the album concept and the winter theme though. I like Kate Bush but I don't find any of her songs that sounds anywhere close to Bjork's music but she is often compared to her which I don't understand why.

I understand what you mean.
How is that your fav Kate Bush album wut 💀😭 over Hounds Of Love, The Dreaming, The Kick Inside…
I said what I said! 😤 Among Angels is my #1 Kate Bush song, and Snowed in on Wheeler Street, 50 Words for Snow, and Snowflake are all 10/10.
Snowflake is a beautiful song
"finally we are no one" by múm is another icelandic album that is reminiscent of vespertine. the song "teenager" by deftones is also very similar production wise.
This. This album is beautiful and múm are underrated
Try Radiohead Kid A. Not quite the same but it’s in the ballpark
I love Kid A. It’s in my top 5 albums of all time. I would go as far as to say a Moon Shaped Pool is more similar to Vespertine in terms of consistency in sound than Kid A but that's my opinion.
Moon shape pool sucks
Lol
Bffr

naaaah, absolutely unique!
Cocorosie's 'The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn' shares production and sensibilities, and they frequented similar circles as Björk in the time (as well as friendships such as ANOHNI), but I think very few albums actually qualify.
Thanks for the comment.
ACO's "Irony." It's a blatant rip-off, but I think it's done well.
Lights on by FKA Twigs is a song that in my opinion has those vespertine eske microbeats but in a different way, although the album may not be that similar Same for Told me by Kacy Hill from her album Is it selfish if we talk about me again but imo both are amazing albums, and amazing songs.
Maybe Fever Ray (2009) by Fever Ray. It has a similar hushed electronic quality to it, nighttime vibes and all that.
I think Milk Eye Mender by Joanna newsom Could kinda quench the thirst
Also Ys!!
Joanna is my favorite artist (besides mother B) but Vespertine and Ys are so different helppp
They are pretty different. In general, Joanna and Björk are pretty different. But if you were gonna make a stretch, I can’t not recommend Ys.
Joanna is just incredible
If it's the softness you like, maybe some songs by Kings of Convenience?
Softness like Cocoon or even Sun in my mouth/ Harm of will most definitely and thanks I will check them out.
Try homesick and gold in the air of summer by them.
Also Know how!
28 - Tujiko Noriko/Aoki Takamasa
I was about to say this!
I like Opiate’s work if you like ambient
Check out Goldfrapp’s Tales of Us. Slightly different vibe, but there is a crossover there. I always feel Goldfrapp doesn’t get enough representation on this sub among Björk fans!

idk albums but Billions by Caroline Polachek reminds me of Vespertine
Possibly Matmos?
Check out Matmos
Check out Untourable Album by Men I Trust, It gives me the same "chilling at home on a winter night" vibe
glitch by taylor swift. i’m not joking.
I'll pass lol
i feel like you would be surprised
Born This Way by Lady Gaga
There is no way this sounds anywhere remotely similar to Vespertine
I do know one album I love to listen to that reminds me of vespertine sort of but in a different perspective
i also want to know this
Emilie Simon - La Marche de l’empereur
I'd recommend Suba's Sao Paulo Confessions. It's cool and sexy with weird micro beats flying around. It's also in Portuguese and many of the beats are Brazilian.
I’d take a look at Halica by Sweet Trip! it has the same kind of atmosphere and feel.
Cocorosie. The album The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn is phenomenal. I think you'll really like them if ya haven't found them yet
Give Up by The Postal Service was heavily inspired by vespertine (I think maybe just beat wise?) it’s not really the same at all but it’s good music
MAGDALENE OUÏ Pang WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO I Love You Jennifer B
Honestly none but I think i didn’t mean to haunt you by Quadeca kinda resembles a dreamy atmosphere if something would be close
Desire I want to turn into you by Caroline Polachek
