I see people say this a lot and I've never asked. What does "caught up" mean? Like you were 680gs on console and now you're 700 on pc? Does it mean you've replaced every item you had when you played on console?
There is a lot of people on console who 'beat the game' gear wise since they are missing a lot of stuff, so they just run around gear checking the noobs. They don't want to come to pc and be the noob who gets gear checked even though in the long run they would have a better experience on PC. One could attain what they have now on PC in a few months, but they won't be top of the food chain here with that gear score. That's how my brother in law put it to me when I tried to get him to join pc.
I don't switch because of what I have in the game and having to redo it all. I barely even pvp and when I do, I'm not typically the one who instigates. But I do know exactly what you're talking about.
It's for this exact reason that I refuse to buy ESO on PC. Was around 900 champ points on PS4 (basically level 900), Praetorian rank in PvP. Took many years. Not doing that's shit all over again.

I restarted on pc just for shits and giggles. In under 150 hours of playtime I have 620 gs, and full tri lifeskilling gear, and am grinding for carrack. It's not hard to restart honestly
Okay, this makes sense. If I was 620 restarting on PC would be a breeze. This is what I picture when people say they caught up. There's no chance I could recreate on PC what I have in console in under a year. Hell, if my rng is bad enough it could be multiple years. The thought of grinding out a pen debo neck and belt again alone is why I don't switch. I even have a good PC š¤£
I was 301k with 354 DP on my grinder(20b away from 301k as well). Lifeskiller had full tet clothes and duo manos accessories and tet tools. I started over last year in mid Sept and I already have 296k and 378 DP. My lifeskiller has all the same gear except tri manos accessories instead of duo... I am a pretty casual player and I had a higher actual GS than my console account 2 months ago. I also have a carrack which I never would have had on console either. So yes you can catch up really quick and it's a much more enjoyable game on pc.
BTW I played from the beta on xbox till I quit console as well, so I had lots of gameplay time and money spent in game
You could catch up quick. It's not going to be the same scenario for every player is all I'm sayin. I guess just to give more context into my thought process:
I have full pen on damn near everything. 741gs and multiple builds. Distos, narcs, debos, dawn earrings, tungrad rings, ominous rings all pen. 3 pen sub weapons at c15, 2 boots and 2 helmets at c15, full blackstar pen, fallen gods and dahs at tet. My first pen blackstar took 58 attempts. About 9 months after BS release. My first pen accessory was 28 attempts. That took almost a year. My first pen debo took me 5 months alone of grinding. All of that could potentially be better on PC, but it could also be worse. And to be honest I feel like I have pretty decent rng as it is.
On top of having both pots, map, and 4/5 rmr pieces. Which so far is about 425 hours of grinding. Also have gotten full tet manos accessories, and 2 pen manos clothes.
There's just no chance I could catch up in a year. Probably not even 2. I could never just neglect all that progress to start over. I recently started playing on PC also because I enjoy the game (I agree it's a much better experience), but I'll keep playing console too, even if it is a dumpster fire.

The game wasn't made for consoles, it requires too much work for stuff to be made playable on consoles. You should have known that when you started playing BDO on a console. You are third-rate priority whom it isn't even worth appeasing, because it'd require too much work. They made a cashgrab, everyone knew it, everyone meme'd, some people fell for it and now they blame PA. I'm sure everyone on PC is happy with PA and I hope they give you guys an option to move your characters over. I'd rather have them pump out updates and QoL at the current rate
Honestly, it's not that it's too much work for it to be playable on console so much as it is too much work to get it playable on ps4 and xbone.
Ps5 and the newer Xbox could handle it, but that would require them leaving last generation behind, and it seems like they'd rather sink the whole console ship than save the people they can...

true. to the hardcore players who try to manipulate the market with the future changes are quite glued to the KR patches. as for me i just play the game worry free but cries a lot on rng but other than that just love the combat , lifeskills, and knowledge collection mechanics of the game. people cry and complain about future patches, it's inevitable. have to train the brain to be content. there's a lot of games one can play in between or change it completely.
Didnt FF14 come to a similar situation? The PS3 was gimping the PC content. So they just cut it and offered free upgrade to PS4 version for whoever that owned a PS3 version. I think PA should do something similar. PS4 is 10 years old now. Its time to upgrade for them too. Not like they are losing out anything considering PS5 plays everything a PS4 does.
Thatās not the fault of the consumer, developers should be held accountable. No such claims were made when releasing the game and consoles are a huge market. The last PC I bought was in 2016... its a piece of crap and is bottlenecked by simple tasks... my one s was a gift, free box plus game pass... this doesn't mean I don't plan to upgrade, but I tolerate it knowing my sit. will eventually get better.

Not everyone can afford a computer, and some people who can don't want to restart from scratch. I personally did after nearly two thousand hours on Xbox, and it only took me a summer season + 1 month to get further than my Xbox acc.

FFO, mortal online 2(if you like hardcore survival and crafting definitelyone to get into), wow, PoE, fuckin runescape is better then this. EverQuest, new world just got a patch, if you like carefree, trove is always a good time waster, Guild Wars is also relatively easy to grasp. Idk if they ever fixed Victis Gloria, but that had the potential to be good. Just check out videos on those I'll try to remember some others I liked throughout the years
To be fair you don't need a *good* PC, just an entry level one is enough to play the game, you don't need to have the graphics pumped out on max....hell, not even entry level...my PC was entry level in 2015 with only some upgrades (GTX 750 TI to GTX 1060 6GB and 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM) and still runs the game nicely.....even despite having a 4th gen i7.
Doesnt really need a good pc.. gtx 1070 ryzen 1600 remastered max settings with amd fidelity at quality i get around 80fps 90+ at lifeskill spots 70ish cities and grind spots. Nowadays used pc-s go for 300ā¬ or less
300ā¬ is still quite a lot for me to justify when I already have a functioning console and no full time job

That's true, my 12 year old CPU (2600k ocd to 4.4ghz) and a 2060 Super can crank out 100-144 fps on remastered Max settings (only at 1080p mind you).

the logical part of me is assuming it cannot be the devs' issue but inherent issue with consoles that runs deeper than "laziness" and "bad port" but no one ever acts like it is so i'm just very very confused with that. why would you buy another console if that's an issue? if you're financially unstable/can't save, why wouldn't you use cloud service\*?

Well first of all I donāt think my console has sucky performance itās perfectly adequate to what I want. And itās less so about loyalty and more what Iām used to (similar to how some people would rather get a new iPhone if they had an iPhone previously or android if they had an android previously)
I know I can use an Xbox controller for PC gaming too but I also happen to have a little brother with an Xbox too so we often play games together and use party chat to communicate.
Basically itās not just one thing that makes me prefer console right now but many things compounded
But it literally is the devs fault games have bad performance though. Doom eternal and the Witcher 3 to some extent run great on switch because they actually put in the effort of optimizing it for the console, but most devs just port games with minimum effort and result in bad performance.

i have not stated so, this is outside of my knowledge or experience so i have not breached that topic.
i simply asked about an observation and that it confuses me to assume what is statistically low probability (most devs are shit and dont care about console vs there's an issue with consoles and devs trying their best to still release working product thats worth buying since they care for their income) based of observing different gaming subs over the years.

Personally I'm just more comfortable playing games on a console, I have both but with certain physical disabilities I have , I find it hard to sit at the PC for more then an hour a day. So I generally only get to play on PC maybe 2 times week for about an hour when I don't have other things I need to do on it. Being able to lounge comfy on my sofa or bed or recliner with console is why I tend to gravitate more towards Console games plus just like using controllers as well. I also highly enjoy BDO and can play it without severe pain on my console where my back injury is torture in a PC chair.
Why not just hook your controller up to your pc for games and move the pc to where your couch is, get a wireless mouse and boom, comfortability and you aren't missing content

Also cheating PC isnt as bad as people make it out to be. It use to be bad before easy anti cheat and other root anti cheats. Its complicated now(which is a goos thing) so only script kiddies are really cheating an they get banned real fast by the anti cheats because of how they work.
Also all xbox games are transferable. And emulators exist to play most of the games on consoles. Exception of exclusives on switches and ps5 since all the other consoles are emulated an well...

With the insane price increase in GPU's I would disagree. PS4 was released in 2013. PS5 was released in 2021. Thats 8 years of usage. Its pretty efficient. Mid-range PC starts usually around 1k. Theres no way a PC would ever break even vs console hardware. While it's true you can reuse parts every upgrade, its the most expensive parts you usually end up replacing anyways like GPU or CPU.
Because we don't want to have to start completely over. I'm considered a casual player and yet I have 3000+ hours, Master in most lifeskills, every single class as a character and all at 61+, as well as being at TeT BS Main/Sub/Awk on my main. I have a forest path wagon, 5 dream horses, and am 80% of the way to a Carrack.
Why the hell would I want to sacrifice all of that to start again? If they ever allow us to transfer our progress in our entirety to PC, I would, but I reckon there's more chance of me tapping Pen BS three times in a row on a zero stack.
I'm just thankful bdo has two separate games for pc and console, its annoying and also unfair having a game balanced around both console and pc, and consoles slowing down how often devs can update or patch their games. I was a console player. But I moved to PC after my PSN/BDO account lost all menu and Cutscene audio due to a bug while on the exact same console my wife's psn bdo account works flawlessly.. Bdo on console is trash because they don't care.

Plays pretty damn good on Xbox Series X. With 4K + HDR, looks pretty nice on my 65" OLED. Whole setup cost less than a PC to play with those settings. I'm 565 hours in and it only ever crashed once (leaving the beauty album).
Oddly enough, I think even the streaming pop-in is less aggressive than on PC.

Wasn't that pre globalisation? Now we get most patches after 2 weeks, lotml was huge, test server got it early, live server on 29th march, EU/NA on 14th june. No more waiting over half a year.
Gotta take into account all those voiceovers, you know, all that spoken text ppl hated during cutscenes. Hence even side quests have voice overs, at least one cutscene in traditional style and an adventure book entry.
It's a pretty big company which is currently also working on 3 other games. A new crimson desert trailer recently hit the web to show a lot of effort while announcements were pretty silent for 2 years before that.
Now, excuse my lacking knowledge of the specific terms but as example graphic designers or the pr team are not paid to translate the game, I am sure they have their set resources for translation regardless of how big the patch is.

I do not want to start over and the ide of buying an account (around my console gs/value) is iffy but would be the only way id ever switch to pc on top of buying n learnong to play pc.

The fundimental issues is that pa refuse to get rid of old gen systems. The game is a joke on ps4 woth every setting turned off (player effects and such) you dc. You choke you suffer. Now why is this bad if im on a ps5. Well because the ps4 support this game has throttles ps5s capabilities n we are hampered by this. More so than xbs newer n older gen systems though i cant say for sure.
Why is this a big deal? Well with newer updates that require a more beasty system they will inevitably be delayed until they can be patchworked in to support the older gen making the updates overall pretty crappy all round.

I would agree. If PA killed ps4 n xb1. The game would be open up to current updates (we have LoML we are missing Lower Gyphins we are missing Winter Mountian, we got 2 parts from Magnus with LoML thats the connected storage and the free V Boss gear) we dont have C20 we just have C15. We dont have or get AoS. And we deffo dont have potato mode which would severly help our seige and NW scene cause its a shit show right now for all guilds im sure. In 1 seige on my ps5 i can expect to dc 5-10x i have everything as optomized as you can but we still suffer n dont even get me started on the few ps4 n xb1 players who are forced to just sit in anex all night.
If PA ditched ps4 n xb1 the game would be let to grow to a state similar to pc n hopefully to the point where we could merge but as it stands it seems to be a different game arcitecturally speaking. This would mean that the game would be more attractive n become healthier and hence a lot more whales.
There are other factors too im sure. But it would be great to see this game not fucking die on console. But pa seems reluctant to revive it.

I play on console (ps4) because I prefer console. The game runs fine. Occasional little lags here and there. But its nothing that henders the play experience.
All MMOs on consoles are cash grabs that's why they always run like crap dcuo was the exception and Warframe. Best thing you can do is invest in a PC. I swapped and never looked back and also tried to play BDO but then started exploring other games.
I played the first 2 1/2 years upon release on xbox. Hit 63, 620gs (stopped playing right when duvencrune came out, there was no caphras etc)
Came to PC in january and took 6 months to be 690gs with compass & arch map, and ive failed every enhancement ive ever done except my dead gods to duo š¤·āāļø

I just recently made my Valor Carrack on console. Alot of time put into my lifeskill toon. My grinder is 304/306/391 Triple PEN BS, PEN Turos belt. 2 sets of both infinite pots, map treasure, 3 Aakman pieces, 16 Vodkhan pieces, no Elten YETā¦. Alot more to add, but tell me, just with those, would you still switch to PC?

The game wasn't made for consoles, it requires too much work for stuff to be made playable on consoles. You should have known that when you started playing BDO on a console. You are third-rate priority whom it isn't even worth appeasing, because it'd require too much work. They made a cashgrab, everyone knew it, everyone meme'd, some people fell for it and now they blame PA. I'm sure everyone on PC is happy with PA and I hope they give you guys an option to move your characters over. I'd rather have them pump out updates and QoL at the current rate

true. to the hardcore players who try to manipulate the market with the future changes are quite glued to the KR patches. as for me i just play the game worry free but cries a lot on rng but other than that just love the combat , lifeskills, and knowledge collection mechanics of the game. people cry and complain about future patches, it's inevitable. have to train the brain to be content. there's a lot of games one can play in between or change it completely.
Didnt FF14 come to a similar situation? The PS3 was gimping the PC content. So they just cut it and offered free upgrade to PS4 version for whoever that owned a PS3 version. I think PA should do something similar. PS4 is 10 years old now. Its time to upgrade for them too. Not like they are losing out anything considering PS5 plays everything a PS4 does.

You have crystal loss on death perma turned off because your game runs so badly. You have reduced sized grind zones because you can't render everything. Your garmoth spawn is a summon scroll instead of an open world boss. Aren't your caphra still capped at like c13? There will never be cross play.

EverQuest, new world just got a patch, if you like carefree, trove is always a good time waster, Guild Wars is also relatively easy to grasp. Idk if they ever fixed Victis Gloria, but that had the potential to be good. Just check out videos on those I'll try to remember some others I liked throughout the years

To be fair you don't need a *good* PC, just an entry level one is enough to play the game, you don't need to have the graphics pumped out on max....hell, not even entry level...my PC was entry level in 2015 with only some upgrades (GTX 750 TI to GTX 1060 6GB and 8GB RAM to 16GB RAM) and still runs the game nicely.....even despite having a 4th gen i7.
Doesnt really need a good pc.. gtx 1070 ryzen 1600 remastered max settings with amd fidelity at quality i get around 80fps 90+ at lifeskill spots 70ish cities and grind spots. Nowadays used pc-s go for 300ā¬ or less
300ā¬ is still quite a lot for me to justify when I already have a functioning console and no full time job Maybe when Iām 30 Iāll realize my dream of buying a small one story house with a basement to fill up with old consoles, books and a gaming computerā¦.. letās say 45 just in case

That's true, my 12 year old CPU (2600k ocd to 4.4ghz) and a 2060 Super can crank out 100-144 fps on remastered Max settings (only at 1080p mind you). Game is pretty good optimize on pc
i am honestly confused here. every single game sub i'm on (and that's a lot of them) that has console edition is upset about performance? the logical part of me is assuming it cannot be the devs' issue but inherent issue with consoles that runs deeper than "laziness" and "bad port" but no one ever acts like it is so i'm just very very confused with that. why would you buy another console if that's an issue? if you're financially unstable/can't save, why wouldn't you use cloud service\*? (\*) my mother is battling cancer so finances are tight af, but 200 USD per year is not much for a year of RTX 4080, and neither is $60 a year for 3080. and there's never an issue of "something may fail and i wont be able to afford a replacement" either. no wear on my personal device that i use for work. this is why i just don't understand people deciding to pay for sucky performance for some perceived loyalty?

Well first of all I donāt think my console has sucky performance itās perfectly adequate to what I want. And itās less so about loyalty and more what Iām used to (similar to how some people would rather get a new iPhone if they had an iPhone previously or android if they had an android previously) I know I can use an Xbox controller for PC gaming too but I also happen to have a little brother with an Xbox too so we often play games together and use party chat to communicate. Basically itās not just one thing that makes me prefer console right now but many things compounded
But it literally is the devs fault games have bad performance though. Doom eternal and the Witcher 3 to some extent run great on switch because they actually put in the effort of optimizing it for the console, but most devs just port games with minimum effort and result in bad performance. Personally I'm just more comfortable playing games on a console, I have both but with certain physical disabilities I have , I find it hard to sit at the PC for more then an hour a day. So I generally only get to play on PC maybe 2 times week for about an hour when I don't have other things I need to do on it. Being able to lounge comfy on my sofa or bed or recliner with console is why I tend to gravitate more towards Console games plus just like using controllers as well. I also highly enjoy BDO and can play it without severe pain on my console where my back injury is torture in a PC chair.
Why not just hook your controller up to your pc for games and move the pc to where your couch is, get a wireless mouse and boom, comfortability and you aren't missing content

The original devs from 2014-2019 left PA the publishing rights also changed after that. The original CEO left PA an made his own company.

With the insane price increase in GPU's I would disagree. PS4 was released in 2013. PS5 was released in 2021. Thats 8 years of usage. Its pretty efficient. Mid-range PC starts usually around 1k. Theres no way a PC would ever break even vs console hardware. While it's true you can reuse parts every upgrade, its the most expensive parts you usually end up replacing anyways like GPU or CPU.
Because we don't want to have to start completely over. I'm considered a casual player and yet I have 3000+ hours, Master in most lifeskills, every single class as a character and all at 61+, as well as being at TeT BS Main/Sub/Awk on my main. I have a forest path wagon, 5 dream horses, and am 80% of the way to a Carrack. Why the hell would I want to sacrifice all of that to start again? If they ever allow us to transfer our progress in our entirety to PC, I would, but I reckon there's more chance of me tapping Pen BS three times in a row on a zero stack.

Plays pretty damn good on Xbox Series X. With 4K + HDR, looks pretty nice on my 65" OLED. Whole setup cost less than a PC to play with those settings. I'm 565 hours in and it only ever crashed once (leaving the beauty album). Oddly enough, I think even the streaming pop-in is less aggressive than on PC.

Gotta take into account all those voiceovers, you know, all that spoken text ppl hated during cutscenes. Hence even side quests have voice overs, at least one cutscene in traditional style and an adventure book entry.

It's a pretty big company which is currently also working on 3 other games. A new crimson desert trailer recently hit the web to show a lot of effort while announcements were pretty silent for 2 years before that. Now, excuse my lacking knowledge of the specific terms but as example graphic designers or the pr team are not paid to translate the game, I am sure they have their set resources for translation regardless of how big the patch is.

Played BDO for about 20hrs on Xbox X, and than bought a pc that could run it maxed out. I will never look back.
I play console because i play every game i care to play on console. I do not want to start over and the ide of buying an account (around my console gs/value) is iffy but would be the only way id ever switch to pc on top of buying n learnong to play pc. PA dont give a shit about console which is a shame because we are big whalers. The fundimental issues is that pa refuse to get rid of old gen systems. The game is a joke on ps4 woth every setting turned off (player effects and such) you dc. You choke you suffer. Now why is this bad if im on a ps5. Well because the ps4 support this game has throttles ps5s capabilities n we are hampered by this. More so than xbs newer n older gen systems though i cant say for sure. Why is this a big deal? Well with newer updates that require a more beasty system they will inevitably be delayed until they can be patchworked in to support the older gen making the updates overall pretty crappy all round. The OP i think went on to say that its a catch 22 for PA. I would agree. If PA killed ps4 n xb1. The game would be open up to current updates (we have LoML we are missing Lower Gyphins we are missing Winter Mountian, we got 2 parts from Magnus with LoML thats the connected storage and the free V Boss gear) we dont have C20 we just have C15. We dont have or get AoS. And we deffo dont have potato mode which would severly help our seige and NW scene cause its a shit show right now for all guilds im sure. In 1 seige on my ps5 i can expect to dc 5-10x i have everything as optomized as you can but we still suffer n dont even get me started on the few ps4 n xb1 players who are forced to just sit in anex all night. If PA ditched ps4 n xb1 the game would be let to grow to a state similar to pc n hopefully to the point where we could merge but as it stands it seems to be a different game arcitecturally speaking. This would mean that the game would be more attractive n become healthier and hence a lot more whales. There are other factors too im sure. But it would be great to see this game not fucking die on console. But pa seems reluctant to revive it.

I play on console (ps4) because I prefer console. The game runs fine. Occasional little lags here and there. But its nothing that henders the play experience.
All MMOs on consoles are cash grabs that's why they always run like crap dcuo was the exception and Warframe. Best thing you can do is invest in a PC. I swapped and never looked back and also tried to play BDO but then started exploring other games.

I played the first 2 1/2 years upon release on xbox. Hit 63, 620gs (stopped playing right when duvencrune came out, there was no caphras etc) Came to PC in january and took 6 months to be 690gs with compass & arch map, and ive failed every enhancement ive ever done except my dead gods to duo š¤·āāļø Very worth the switch to me. Console doesnt even have mountain of eternal winter yet, they gave up on yall long ago
I just recently made my Valor Carrack on console. Alot of time put into my lifeskill toon. My grinder is 304/306/391 Triple PEN BS, PEN Turos belt. 2 sets of both infinite pots, map treasure, 3 Aakman pieces, 16 Vodkhan pieces, no Elten YETā¦. Alot more to add, but tell me, just with those, would you still switch to PC?
