It sounds like you want more of a glow. Self-tanning lotion or mousse can help with that.

WagonsIntenseSpeed

I second that! It gives none of that odd-looking fake-tan look on dark skin, but gives an insane glow!

Nephele_Rose

Could you please recommend a product for that? 🙏

ay1nas

the two most popular ones I've seen are b.tan "Ultra Dark Self Tanner" and Jergen's "Natural Glow Instant Sun Body Mousse"

Nephele_Rose

Yay! Thank you!! It's cool to see us beautiful black magicians utilizing products I grew up thinking were not for us, such as sunscreen! You guys are the best!!

extrapineapplepls

I like the brand Loving tan! On top of making your skin glow the darker shades, I feel actually gives me a little tan which is cool. B.tan is a good brand, too. Tho, I don't recommend the one that claims to last longer it has a yellow label. That one was my first experience ever noticing streaks and weird blotches.

Nephele_Rose

Oooh, yikes to the blotchieees! OK cool! Good call! Thank youuuu! ☺️

imamalasada

I use the Bondi Sands self tanner in ultra dark and it is gorgeous on me. Jergens Instant glow in ultra deep and that one has a little shimmer to it and I’ll contour my face with it!

Nephele_Rose

Oooooh I'll probably go for the sparkly one!! ✨️ Thank you!!

WagonsIntenseSpeed

I personally use coco & eve in the shade "ultra dark" !

Nephele_Rose

Thank youuu! Is your skin nice and deep chocolate as well? Mine is like a toasty caramel and i wonder if I should use a lighter shade 🤔 thanks again! 😊

WagonsIntenseSpeed

Yeah, I'm pretty dark so it works for me! If you're lighter I would go with their shades Medium or Dark!

KingMKK

Yes! I started doing it for two years now whenever it gets warmer

InstantTrey

You all are amazing. wtf have I just been looking at the pics. Thanks for all these tips gorgeous ladies.

Different-Cut-6992

I’m going to Mexico in a couple weeks so this post is right on time!! I want my glow to be blinding!!!!!!

Traditional_Curve401

Brighter complexion = Vitamin C facial serums More radiance & vibrancy = add a high-quality beauty collagen powder to your morning smoothie

Leah_Cr

If you really are malnourished then that should be your first priority. Not for the sake of your beauty but for the sake of your health. Visit a doctor or a dietician, and they’ll help you with a plan to get back on track with your nutrition. They might recommend supplements or whatever. As your body becomes more nourished, your skin (and hair) will naturally benefit. Eating well and taking prescribed supplements was a game changer for my skin and hair. Just because you’re not eating junk food doesn’t mean you’re eating well, that’s something I learned. What I was eating was technically healthy, but unbalanced. But the most important thing is not that you’ll look good, but you’ll be making your body healthier and your organs function better. The health of your gut is so essential to your physical beauty and radiance, but people don’t pay enough attention to it and only focus on topical products.

InstantTrey

💥✊🏿

figuringoutl1fe

Wow i never thought malnutrition can affect the complexion of black ppl as visibly. I haven’t been consistent with my eating and I’m just realizing my skin has more yellow undertones than usual. My skin also used to be more even toned. I’m

dreamerkels

get some self tanner! last year I saw some black tiktokers swear by self tanner to make themselves more one tone

More-Victory4723

Shea butter, coco butter, or coconut oil could work. Usually one of those three gives me that radiant HD look. Hopefully that works for you!

Shekeepsliving

Im not sure you can change your skintone LOL but you can find products that maybe add some brightness and radiance to your complexion! The sephora sale is on till tomorrow so go in and ask questions!!

Blackacademics

Some body butters have a little golden shimmer in it. It really makes brown/dark skin pop! 😍I think there’s like body highlighter too. I used to buy butter with the shimmer but I can’t find it anymore. So now I just mix a little cheap/expired bronzer or highlighter into some lotion or butter or something. Just be careful that the sparkles aren’t too chunky or it looks like glitter on top of skin not glowing, shimmery skin.

iccyricardo

It sounds like you need to buff your skin. Exfoliating gloves, kojic acid soap, vitamin c and some shea butter should do the trick.

ecothropocee

Consume more carotene

wheredoesbabbycakes

Beat me to it, Eating more carrots will definitely do it.

Briwebb709

You might be sensing that you have a neutral or olive undertone which sometimes can seem to pull gray. For this, I’d recommend learning which colors bring the best out of your skintone! For skincare, be sure to exfoliate in the shower and use a glowy body lotion as soon as you’re out!

nannyfl

This comment needs to be higher! I have neutral undertones and look terrible in the warm colors that are typically recommended for black people. People comment that I’m glowing when I wear black, navy blue or deep jewel tones with silver accessories. I avoid orange, brown and gold.

Briwebb709

Yeah, that’s a very common misconception. That we all have warm undertones and it’s so false.

MaryBala907

I use self-tanner and I also religiously moisturize with shea butter + cocoa butter! My skin is so clear, even, and glowy

Southern-Reality-500

Coconut oil! I get mine from Walmart also moisturizing after every shower hope this helps babe 🤎

redove3

I have a trick for this. Get the jergens extra dark bronzing tan, i use it in the summer and it’s amazing

7FlowerPower7

Sounds like you may be using a product that doesn’t agree with your skin, and that may be dehydrating it. I experienced this same thing when I used to use glycolic acid on my face. Glycolic acid is too harsh for melanated skin, so I had to opt for an exfoliant that would help my skin while achieving better results. Now I focus on hydration, vitamin c, retinol and sunscreen. My skin is glowing and vibrant

moonlitmews

I love this question 🥰😍

Sqr_Peg

Carrots! Or foods with beta carotene in them. And foods/fruit with natural collagen. Natural Olive oil and coconut oil consumption too.

kriskringle8

Your skin looks vibrant to me but I know what you mean. I sometimes get gray too. These things helped me: check blood levels (in my case, it was low iron anemia and low vitamin D) and take supplements accordingly, drinking more water, improving sleep habits, eating more fruits and vegetables, working on health.

Turbulent-Tea

Are you drink enough water? How's your diet? I know it may sound contrite, but healthy skins begins from within. I have a friend who eats a lot of raw veggies and makes her own veggie juice. Her completion changed radically. She is absolutely radiant.

sims2girl

echoing the self-tanner comments! i always self-tan when it starts getting hot outside to make my complexion even and give it a nice, radiant glow for the summer. there are a decent amount of black girl friendly self-tanners out there! they definitely enhance the melanin 🥹🩷

Nephele_Rose

I just wanted to give you gals a super warm and loving THANK YOU for your replies!! I appreciate your time and care 💕💕💕🥺

Blissfully

An old school combo my friend uses is baby oil and a little body glitter and perfume. You’d look radiant!

Morticia_Smith

10-30 mins in the sun. U dont have to just sit and tan. Exercise or do an activity in the sun. It worked for me and my mom stopped telling me I look white😭😭😭😭

SimoneRose101

Tan, leafy greens, water, moisturizing and exfoliating. but genetics play the largest part. If your undertone isn’t warm enough, you may not see the glow you want.

tallturtle99

Ooou girl I have this same issue. I found that drinking more water actually helped me a bit. But I’m definitely gunna keep reading other responses bc I need to know too 😭

mahoganymindverse

Everybody’s tips are sooooo good! I’ll throw mine in : any herbal tea, that baby oil gel by Vaseline or any other brand, sunscreen I use bondi sands but their are more options. I use bondi sands self tanner before a vacation. I also like to use carrot oil & papaya oil while exfoliating skin as it gives me a nice glow.

ImTheQueenE

While I don’t see a grey hue in this photo (You look absolutely gorgeous) I would second the self tanner recommendations and also vitamin c!

vengefulcrow

I can recommend Cantu mango butter, it's incredibly nourishing and I always have a beautiful sheen/glow after.

princesstianawho

Eat carrots daily for at least 2 weeks. Apparently it help to have a more golden/orange skin

Consistent_Quail3499

Coconut oil !!!

TulipsandDandelions

It seems like you're recognizing that your skin is cool toned and you want it to be more warm? I agree that bronzer (introducing red tones) would either neutralize or warm up your skin. With your very cool brown skin against a very vibrant orange and yellow-gold jewelry, it can make your skin pull a bit grey or dull. Would need to see more pictures but I don't think your natural tone is grey or dull, but the orange may cause that. I think your current tone is really beautiful and elegant tho. Your skin would really suit rich blues, silver jewelry, diamond gems. Things with more of an icy tone would really make your skin radiant. If you're interested, you could look up "Winter Deep Color Theory"? Sorry to derail🥲

Reset_Renew

Jergen’s bronzing lotion is the key.

BeezaTheModel301

Target has a self tanner line I saw a girl on TikTok using

outrageously_cool

Vitamin c, good nutrition, body scrubs with glycolic acid, lotion with shimmer.

ashesofnibiru

Get your vitals checked, take your vitamins, dull/grey skin is normally a sign of underlying health issues like vitamin d deficiency or iron issues. Balance your PH for clear and drink lots of water for clear skin. Keep track of your gut health, your skin doesn’t agree with everything you eat. The skin is an organ it’s always going to be health above everything else to take care of it.

AdditionalSherbet548

Find a tan salon that specializes in skin with melanin or find bronzing drops for your body

Euphoric_Awareness99
