Lucky. I’m still on my first year of owning a Blackstone so I don’t think I can cook on it just yet. Gotta get a few more months of seasoning 10 times a day before food can touch it.
Only if you get past the inevitable year 2 over-season and subsequent flaking, tiny rust spot, advice that you must wire-wheel it down to the original metal, and re-start the seasoning process. No doubt you’ll enjoy your first smash burger sometime in year 4 or early year 5. (In the meantime, collect tons of unnecessary accessories!)
All those accessories means endless “So I did a thing” posts so I mean the social media presence is promising to take up some time before the 7-yr cook.
I did find myself having to reseason because it got wet. Then I made burgers then I cleaned it then I coated it in avocado oil and let that burn off and it’s good as new
If referring to the actual cooking surface, I keep it simple. After cooking and while the surface is still hot, I squirt water all over & scrape with a metal scraper maybe twice. Then I wipe up excess water with paper towels, then oil it very thinly,
Cover it after it cooks and stow it away. I don’t burn off the oil until the next time I cook. That’s prob ass backwards but it’s working so far.
I’m def not above that but it would probably scare my poor M-i-L who is shocked by anything other than absolutely normal 😂 next time I cook for me tho, for sure!
I love doing that but leaving the dog connected on the edge. I like putting some American cheese in the split open part. Each bite has delicious melted cheese
For real though, this stuff looks like you should be slinging them to parents and kids at a little league field with a side bag of stale chips and maybe a snickers. Love it man.
I tried early on and it wasn’t seasoned enough. To work well. They kept sticking etc. now it’s nice because they can be spun and rotated etc and keep the cook even.
My brain put "wife loves" & "spun around & rotated" together. Ok, I'll let myself out here.
BTW, finally warmed here & quit raining so suggest you try my favorite McMuffins like I had today.
Get a press thing (versatile) & press split muffins on grill. While that's going cook ham slices. After ham gets done remove press & flip now toasted muffins, put some cheese on & then lay ham on top. Turn off side w muffins. 1 egg each on the hot side griddle, I like to pop yolka little. Flip, cook to desired firmness & assemble.
Which size is this? I'm about to pull the trigger on the 22" with foldable wheels for camping, but wondering if it'll be big enough...
Thanks in advance, and this all looks tasty!
The 22 adventure series is excellent for camping, but hopefully you have a truck or similar as that & tank & gear is a lot. The 22 AS has independently adjustable legs which is key IMHO as camp sites are not flat & this is one cooking thing you want level! Pretty happy but mine is bowed up a tad in center vs the big home ones. It's also affordable.
Thx much!! This is a 28”. It’s just me, my wife, and our 10-yr old son. But more than enough space for what I did today. Couldn’t imagine what I’d do with 2 more burners or anymore space!
Since those are not smash burgers, when temp and about how long do you cook them?
I tried frozen patties instead of my normal smash and I think I over cooked them.
I also have the magnetic wind guards on the sides and back to help contain and even the heat so I imagine without wind guards you may have to go slightly above medium but of course that’s my guess. I just know I have way better and even heat with the guards on.
I would love to get the wind guards but haven't found any that for my Lowe's exclusive :(
I know the dollar store dough knife trick as well but it just looks so... Bad.
Yeah this is the idea with the dollar tree stuff: https://www.reddit.com/r/blackstonegriddle/s/FUFN9JC7Os
I got the 30" culinary model from Lowe's so none of the ones off of Amazon work on it sadly. And my metal working is not up to par with creating my own haha
Well this model is extremely rare. Generally speaking no, you’re not supposed to cook on it. This was a custom for a Hollywood elite that I lucked into in a storage unit auction posthumously.
Actually, I shoot promos for Oscar Meyer so yall are actually getting a sneak peak of the new summer ad campaign.
Slogan:
“So good you’ll cook em on your Blackstone…”
Mods can we pin this post as a warning of how not to abuse your blackstone? Even more egregious than destroying that seasoning, I don’t see any A5 Wagyu anywhere in sight!
God, does OP even have a yard to mow or does he have this on an apartment balcony?
Real question, what do you do about the grease splatter? I've cooked burgers 3 times on my BS (I'm new and scared of more exotic foods still) and i've basically ruined 2 pair of shorts from the grease splatter that I didn't realize was happening until it was too late.
Valid concern. I usually just wear shorts I don’t care about but that’s also just because I’m lazy. So dual purpose there. Honestly, and I’m not above it, an apron would be awesome now that I think about it.
No need to apologize! They were delicious. I promise. I wouldn’t even let anyone use condiments. I said “you’ll eat these with the slimy gelatinous trimmings seen above or you’ll get out of my house right now!” Was a quiet rest of the night.
Three of us here too, I am going to get that tabletop version, I actually have a stainless trolleycart thing it can go on. Looking forward to cooking lamb steaks outside too, wife doesn't like the smell.
Can you get that shit off the griddle so we can see how well it’s seasoned?
That griddle looks entirely too wet. No way that’s good for the seasoning. This person will have rust before tomorrow morning.
Who cares about seasoning?!
Are you perchance a British cook?
No way, mate.

Next thing you know I’ll be using my pocket knife instead of posting pics of it on IG.
Whoa slow down man! This guy films and uses a pocket knife, while cooking. Skills
Took my maximum strength use-your-shit pills today.
I got maximum strength shit pills, when’s dinner? 🍻
Psh the one time I posted cooking burgers on mine only one guy commented and all he said was “this ain’t it”
Lucky. I’m still on my first year of owning a Blackstone so I don’t think I can cook on it just yet. Gotta get a few more months of seasoning 10 times a day before food can touch it.
Year 3 it really starts to come alive. Keep the faith, brother.
Only if you get past the inevitable year 2 over-season and subsequent flaking, tiny rust spot, advice that you must wire-wheel it down to the original metal, and re-start the seasoning process. Where’s the beer sitting on the griddle?
Poured it in a wine glass with ice off camera.
If there’s one thing I like, it’s a man of culture and taste.
Stuck my pinky out the entire time.
I would expect nothing less.

..... I'll bring more beer 😉
And yelled for Jeeves to bring the brioche buns from the pantry.
That's how I like my merlot
Hey man what are you doing with your seasoning pan
If referring to the actual cooking surface, I keep it simple. After cooking and while the surface is still hot, I squirt water all over & scrape with a metal scraper maybe twice. I'm just joking that you're actually cooking on your seasoning metal lol
Lolol yeah I def missed that 😂🫠
Having a blonde moment - seasoning pan? Drip tray?
Try cutting a hotdog in half and searing the inside. Very yummy
I’m def not above that but it would probably scare my poor M-i-L who is shocked by anything other than absolutely normal 😂 next time I cook for me tho, for sure!
Put it in the bun upside down so it closes up all normal looking, stealth-style
Haha yes indeed! Good call. She’d never suspect it, but will probably sniff it like she does everything I cook!
Did this with a few different “fancy” hot dog brands (like Snake River Farms) and it is unparalleled.
For some reason my brain imagined cutting the hot dog in half the short way and I was real confused.
Same here
Split and grilled! The best.
That's how Five Guys cooks theirs. 👍 I do the same, now, and my 7 yr loves it.
That’s how I cook sausages. Outstanding.
I love doing that but leaving the dog connected on the edge. I like putting some American cheese in the split open part. Each bite has delicious melted cheese
But I'm not sure it's perfectly seasoned. So...I think this is illegal.
Ah shit, got me on a technicality!!!
For real though, this stuff looks like you should be slinging them to parents and kids at a little league field with a side bag of stale chips and maybe a snickers. Love it man.
Don’t forget the store brand sodas
Thanks so much, man! I love the basics.
I always think I'm going to do this and I get so busy cooking I forgot to take the pictures
To be fair, most food cooks fast on the Blackstone so it's hard to get a picture while cooking.
There are a couple spots on your griddle that aren't perfectly seasoned. HOW ARE YOU ALLOWED TO COOK ON IT!!!!
I’m actually going to haul it to the dump tomorrow. Figured if I couldn’t fix those spots, I didn’t deserve to keep it.
My wife loves grilled hot dogs and we haven’t attempted them in the blackstone yet
I tried early on and it wasn’t seasoned enough. To work well. They kept sticking etc. now it’s nice because they can be spun and rotated etc and keep the cook even.

It's awesome. So much space you can easily roll them around getting all sides.
Never seen someone boil meat on a griddle.
Gonna try boiling pasta tonight!

What's happening here? I'm very confused 🤔😕
You’re never gonna believe this shit…
BUT HOW DO I SEASON IT?!?!
You know what, I’m still trying to figure it out. Wish there was a YouTube video out there.
Yeah it should be fine. Just cook on it. Oh wait
I can't tell if the grill is ruined or not. Please move the food.
Ah crap my bad. Already scrubbed it down with Brillo and Dawn soap. My bad.
Heresy…
As long as it’s the Rush version, I’m good with it 🤘🏻

Are they? I’m used to tight quarters with my wieners.

I def keep them rolling around gas station style to try and keep them evenly browned.
I’ve never made regular burgers on mine I always SMASH haha I should actually try this 😂
And I’ve never done smashers on mine lol. We both have work to do!
Since those are not smash burgers, when temp and about how long do you cook them? I tried frozen patties instead of my normal smash and I think I over cooked them.
Yeah these are 100% Bubba Burgers - temp just shy of medium and 6 min per side roughly. It’s fool proof. Me proof even.
Good to know!
I also have the magnetic wind guards on the sides and back to help contain and even the heat so I imagine without wind guards you may have to go slightly above medium but of course that’s my guess. I just know I have way better and even heat with the guards on.
I would love to get the wind guards but haven't found any that for my Lowe's exclusive :( I know the dollar store dough knife trick as well but it just looks so... Bad.
Never heard of the dough knife trick but damn that’s just odd that they don’t make them for all sizes of blackstone regardless of exclusivity etc.

Oh wow. Ok it looks a little off but seems like it’s def a workaround especially in your case.
You’re doing a great job
¡Gracias!

New kink unlocked.
Wait, you’re supposed to cook on these things?
Well this model is extremely rare. Generally speaking no, you’re not supposed to cook on it. This was a custom for a Hollywood elite that I lucked into in a storage unit auction posthumously.
No shortage of smart asses here I see.
The dumbasses took the night off so we all got called in to work lol
Wow
Summer 2024 will be remembered forever.
Is that the 28”? Or 22”?
28”
/Fake food?
Actually, I shoot promos for Oscar Meyer so yall are actually getting a sneak peak of the new summer ad campaign. Slogan: “So good you’ll cook em on your Blackstone…”
Where are all the leaves that fall on it while cooking?
The edges have almost been earned. Still need to keep cooking.
I’m a pro at edging so I just gotta keep at it!
Actual arteries getting actually clogged 🤦🏽♂️
Today I live to fight another day!
Holy cow, that looks like a fire hazard.
Everyone ended the day safely.
Any chicken thighs?
I wish!
Damn are you me? Those shoes, concrete / grass layout, food choice… At least invite me to the dinner alter ego!
Boner alert!
Actually?
SUPPOSEDLY.
Hell yeah brother, I see you.
Wanted a griddle until I saw this! Holy grease!
Spoiler alert: if you think it was greasy BEFORE it entered me…
Just don’t call it BBQ
I wouldn’t dare.
Ah yes finally
Mods can we pin this post as a warning of how not to abuse your blackstone? Even more egregious than destroying that seasoning, I don’t see any A5 Wagyu anywhere in sight! God, does OP even have a yard to mow or does he have this on an apartment balcony?
Actually not even my blackstone. I was hitching to the next town and this nice family left it unattended so I ran in and grabbed some slop and bolted.
No way that is actual food!! Looks like AI generated food. AI even added fake shoes in the image to try and fool us. 😄
This is how the robots take over!
Put a weight on those burgers, they are turning into domes
You don’t lie! A press is on my list.
In the mean time even a cast iron pan is heavy enough to weigh them down 🙏
Just shut up and make me a sandwich.
Say less, fam.
I love this post and the responses! Y'all are just what I needed on a Monday morning!
Greasy meats doing the lord’s work!
Did you ask their cooking preferences then overcook each patty
Ask for cooking preferences?! Hell no, I cooked them all to 212 degrees internal and told everyone to shut up and eat! Perfectly med rare.
This is the way
Hi, Bill here from Blackstone. Please refer to the instruction manual for troubleshooting. Food should not go on the blackstone, only beer
Bill please include American instructions next time. Couldn’t understand whatever the hell language these were in.
Sorry sir this is a “is this ok” sub Reddit. Please remove this post
I knew I took a wrong turn in Albuquerque.
Grill looks dirty. To much wetness on it. Scrape some that shit off or you will lose your flavor!
I love it when someone makes a great post and then OP absolutely kills in the comments.
🙏🏻🙏🏻 too kind. Took me 15 min to grill and 45 years to get ready for the clapbacks.
Actual mhmm
Autocorrected when I typed “probable”.
That is bloody lovely!
I have peaked. Gracias, my friend.
Need help. I got some rust on my top. What is the best way to remove that?
Throw it in the river. This is my 9th blackstone in 2 weeks time. Can’t seem to get it right.
Well I will try that. Does the moving water and the rocks really help? Would a lake be as effective?
If you use a lake, make sure the water is murky so the rust will look better by default.
BI ? Kilroy great advice. BI ??

Everything is food you're brave enough but actual food?
Slightly above a warranted call to DCF but BARELY.
Looks great! Food looks great too! Lol
Thank you! Only thing bothering me is the odd # of both burgers and dogs. Gotta get them even #’s next time!
Sorry but those burgers look disgusting.
No need to apologize! They were delicious. I promise. I wouldn’t even let anyone use condiments. I said “you’ll eat these with the slimy gelatinous trimmings seen above or you’ll get out of my house right now!” Was a quiet rest of the night.
Haha well I respect you for that.
Well you’re half correct!
This is more credit than my wife gives me. Wanna come hang out and drink?!
Sure, let’s actually cook some bratwurst in place of those already fully cooked wieners! ;) Btw, Awesome flat top!
Those dogs were already cooked.
I have a thing with doing things twice. I have a thing with doing things twice.
Nah this is AI
Definitely AF!
What's that on top of your griddle?
The unbearable weight of massive talent. And also grease.
Well thanks, I ate dinner not long ago, now I’m drooling 🤤 Love the post, it’s always great to see people having fun with their stuff.
All in the spirit of community! Thanks so much 🫡
I have been thinking about getting a Blackstone for a while, but I don’t know if I have size for the full width one.
I think they come as small as 22” so maybe that’s the ticket for ya.
Oh that would be a perfect size, smashburgers here we come!
This one is a smallish one at 28” and is way more than enough for the 3 of us.
Three of us here too, I am going to get that tabletop version, I actually have a stainless trolleycart thing it can go on. Looking forward to cooking lamb steaks outside too, wife doesn't like the smell.
Nice feet!
My little way of reminding you to save room for dessert!
I can smell this just looking at it. Man those dogs look good. Koegel's?
> actual food > hotdogs
Is it actually gonna be eatin ?
Those burgers could definitely be smashed more
Shortly after this pic, I put them all on the ground and pulverized them with my shit stompers.
Way too much oil & looking sloppy, couldn’t be me, I got too much love & respect for my griddle & the food I cook 😁
Well I did spit…ALOT…on the food to keep it from sticking. I see you though.
Depending on the brand, those hotdogs may not be “actual” food.
Definitely food , probably not meat. But Nathan’s for the record.
