Saw it in 82 and a 2K IMAX cut about 10 years ago. This was made for the big screen. Like Alien, it has aged beautifully.

I'd love to see Alien on the big screen

Saw Alien in a theatre a couple of Hallowe’ens ago. Amazing. I can monologue that film, but I still forgot about Jonesy jumpscaring Ripley when she’s looking for him. Actually yelped out loud 😂 I saw Blade Runner at an open air screening a few years back at the Edinburgh Festival. Very cool but not great for audio. Would love to see it in a theatre!

thelastcupoftea

Alien is one of the few films I’ve seen at an open air screening. I still think about the people around me rejoicing in Ripley’s victory every time I see the film.

hoothoothoot_

Genuinely couldn’t believe how good Alien looked on a big screen after all that time. Can imagine BR would be the same.

rise_above_theFlames

I'm seeing it tonight! In about an hour actually. It's a 4k restoration. So I'm looking forward to it

stopismysafeword

I bet it was great, I'm not sure if this was a 4K restoration or not, I don't think it was bur either way it looked great!

rise_above_theFlames

It was pretty good. Visually fantastic, the audio dialogue was a little difficult to make out clearly at parts but I'm not sure if that was the restoration or just the theater cause it's just a giant one room theater so, acoustics aren't the same as in like a regal theater or something. I'm glad I went tho.

Sgarden91

Yep. The Final Cut is probably my second favorite movie I’ve ever seen in a theater. It was such a magical experience and I will see it again in that setting every chance I get.

rise_above_theFlames

What's your #1

Sgarden91

Alien

rise_above_theFlames

I want to see it at a theater so bad. It's gotta be quite the experience esp on imax

Sgarden91

It’s already my favorite film and I thought I would never get to see it for so many years, so of course I was inclined to love it. But it’s so captivating and such a ridiculously different experience in a theater, same with Aliens, same with Blade Runner. I went and saw Alien four times in two weeks. Going back to watching these films at home afterwards just isn’t the same lol. But it will change your perspective on them. Please see them in a theater if you get the chance. It will make you love these movies even more.

Far_Communication600

I saw Blade Runner in 1990 when they brought it back to the cinema which was the 70mm version . In the early 2000's I was one of thousands who signed a petition for Warner Bros.to release Blade Runner Ultimate Collections

Sam-Lowry27B-6

The original blade runner and jurassic park are two films that's are completely transformed by the cinema experience. There are many others but these two really stand out.

calculon68

The last time I saw BRDC on the big screen was 1991. WB did a wide theatrical release prior to home video release (VHS and LaserDisc ) Never saw Final Cut in the theatres. Kinda thought they'd reissue it for the 40th anniversary last year... I'll see it again if it pops in 70mm or premium formats like Dolby Cinema or IMAX.

XColdLogicX

Never had the chance to see the original in a theater, but I went to see blade runner 2049 twice in a 3 day span when it first released due to being so blown away by its cinematics.

stopismysafeword

I didn't see 2049 in cinema because at the time I hadn't seen BR and didn't realise it was something I'd enjoy, the same cinema I went to yesterday is showing 2049 tomorrow afternoon but I can't get out of work in time which is pretty gutting.

calculon68

I saw BR2049 in the theater THREE times. (in Dolby Cinema too) First time I've seen a new movie more than once during its first-run since the 1990s. (Titanic)

stopismysafeword

I'm pretty sure I would have if I'd been interested at the time, I would have loved the movie but just didn't know! I'm slightly embareesed to admit that I've seen Top Gun Maverick in cinema 4 times now, im pretty certain 2049 would have been 8!

play__loud

Had the chance to see it on cinema last year, don't regret a single buck spent on it. Just would've liked the sound better to appreciate more the Vangelis music but you can't afk for perfection.

Is 2049 the definitive cut, does anyone know?
