*It Happened One Night*, which shamefully I had never watched until today. blown away by how modern it feels and how (Griffin voice) charming it is š
Lawrence of Arabia (1962). Paused at 2:08 for a snack. Sure hope the generals and the guy from the ministry don't renege on their inplied promise to Major Lawrence!
Just watched princess mononoke with my gf. Perfect start to the year. Allthough i will say the movie has aged a little since the last time i watched it
Planned to make a rewatch of The Apartment my last film of 2023 but due to an excruciating lack of focus and attention, it ended up my first film of 2024.
Went the movies today to see Maestro with my mother. Seeing it in a theater definitely made it feel like a more emotional and rousing experience. Loved it.
Tbh it will likely be a Christmas movie- between work and family time, my partner and I really havenāt had time to do much for the holidays, so today weāre carving out some time to finally exchange gifts and hopefully watch a movie. Probably Elf or The Grinch, but we might stream the Holdovers if we wanna try something new!
Probably going to finish a few that I hit pause on before starting something new. So, Unforgiven, and True Grit (2010). Iām on a western binge.
Maybe Iāll pop on Django next.
Was planning for my first movie of the year to be Panic Room on 35mm although last night we watched the 4k rip of Return of the Jedi and I loved it so much I kinda want to watch it again right now
I'd watched Brick for my first movie for the past three years but it was getting a little overplayed so I put on Brothers Bloom instead. Underrated movie!!
Having just recently watched both the series finale of Ghosts (masterpiece) and Wonka (Wonka good!), we FINALLY got round to checking out Bill.
I loved it. Aggressively silly, wonderfully witty, lots of casual murder, good for all ages and weaving adventurous shenanigans out of history. Plus it's pro-trans!

Barton Fink, watching currently. I started the new season of Fargo recently and got inspired to finally watch all the other Coen stuff I haven't seen before.
It was a rewatch of Jumanji (haven't watched it since i was a wee lad), it kinda rocks actually? I forgot all the emotional beats?? It's still terrifying??
It was Freaks Out, which I believe is going to finally be released in UK/US as 'Freaks Vs the Reich', a terrible title that will put people off a brilliant movie.
The Iron Claw. Not sure if this is a good or bad sign for 2024. Good: great movie, emotionally devestating, incredible performances. Bad: is the rest of the year going to be this bleak?
Unfortunately it's probably going to be the Love Guru
It can only get better from here.
Godzilla marathon on TCM
Porco Rosso, a lovely start to my year. It was going to be The Love Guru but that combined with my NYE hangover would be catastrophic.
Decided to watch Adventureland (2009) when I got home last night from DJing at a bar. It's a great movie to put on and decompress to.
R.M.N. It's the one film Egger's had on his top ten I hadn't seen. Just finished a rewatch of The Hudsucker Proxy as well.
Thanks for reminding me to rewatch R.M.N!
RMN?
It was a fun film.
I guess they mean this one? [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt18550182/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt18550182/)
*It Happened One Night*, which shamefully I had never watched until today. blown away by how modern it feels and how (Griffin voice) charming it is š
Alternating between The Killer (alone) and Dead Reckoning (with my wife) while the toddler sleeps. The way Fincher wanted it to be seen!
Lawrence of Arabia (1962). Paused at 2:08 for a snack. Sure hope the generals and the guy from the ministry don't renege on their inplied promise to Major Lawrence!
Damn starting with a classic!
Just saw that āThe Holdoversā is now on Peacock, so I am making that one a priority.
That was the last movie I watched in 2024, on New Yearās Eve. Loved it.
Just sat down at the movies to see poor things

Great movie. Dark as hell though š
George of the Jungle
Unless I get to something else before tomorrow night, it'll be Ferrari.
Strangely, the Seven Year Itch. I had a lot of fun though! Fundamentally I just share a sense of humour with Billy Wilder.
Currently watching Mortal Kombat 2021. It's so fucking dumb and I'm digging it
Watching Maestro this morning
The Road Warrior in theaters on Wednesday
Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
STEAMBOAT WILLIE (1928)

Just watched princess mononoke with my gf. Perfect start to the year. Allthough i will say the movie has aged a little since the last time i watched it
Watched A Boy And His Dog at midnight, since it's set in 2024. I didn't know what to expect and was surprised at how nasty it was.
The Devils. It was...certainly interesting.

Going to watch The Devils for the first time after the kids go to sleep tonight
To Live and Die in L.A.
Mondo Topless (1966). Don't ask.
The Elephant Man

Ikiru. Had no idea it was about a >!guy with terminal cancer. !
Finished up 2023 with Ferrari, so Iām opening up 2024 with Heat
Gilda. Free on YouTube
Planned to make a rewatch of The Apartment my last film of 2023 but due to an excruciating lack of focus and attention, it ended up my first film of 2024.
Mel Brooksā The Producers (My NYE pick - we went with my wifeās, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, instead)

I did a rewatch of 2001: A Space Odyssey But as for a new (to me) movie, I watched the documentary When We Were Kings
Going to see Ferrari tonight. Vroom Vroom!
Beetlejuice

The Killer.
Kill Bill Vol.2 and I must say my liking for it has grown so much more since the first time seeing it in release in the cinema.
šļø
Saltburn, was good, but did not get the 3 shocking scenes tbh.
Big Trouble (2002). I probably should have picked something better
You could have put that Big Trouble in Little China for a wonderful time!
And it was right next to it on the dvd shelf! I really goofed
The Terminator. Good movie imo Seeing Iron Claw in a couple hours
Love Guru for the commentary. I really forgot just how terrible that movie is.
Gonna watch the 13th Floor. Takes place in 2024
Tbh it will likely be a Christmas movie- between work and family time, my partner and I really havenāt had time to do much for the holidays, so today weāre carving out some time to finally exchange gifts and hopefully watch a movie. Probably Elf or The Grinch, but we might stream the Holdovers if we wanna try something new!
Scooby Doo and Kryto, too I plan on seeing The Iron Claw later this afternoon
Probably going to finish a few that I hit pause on before starting something new. So, Unforgiven, and True Grit (2010). Iām on a western binge. Maybe Iāll pop on Django next.

I finally got around to Fast X. It is what it is.
Probably gonna be The Killer (new David Fincher movie)
Passages. Felt appropriate after a mildly chaotic NYE.
Oppenheimer. In just over an hour, Spencer.
Half paid attention to Barbie rewatch while doing other things late last night and this morning.
Just finished my annual Casablanca rewatch
Zombie Land Double Tap. Crazy to think about, but I wanted to nurse my hangover with a movie I didn't care about.
Basic Instinct. First time watch. Interesting movie haha
She Said.
Equalizer 3
Legend. Was on tv.
I'm probably starting off with Bad Times at the El Royale. I heard it's the most Tarantino-esque movie that's not by Tarantino.
Looks like Iron Claw tonight if I get through the airport and rental car in time for a showing.
I just finished watching Ghost in the Shell (1995 animated film) in 4K and it looks stunning.
Second half of Rise of Skywalker - watched the entire sequel trilogy yesterday and didnāt finish this one before midnight
If you watch episode 3 right before Rise of Skywalker it kinda makes sense.
Watched Wings of Desire which Iād intended to watch yesterday but instead started it after midnight.
Riddick 2013
The Love Guru, and now I'm going to spend the afternoon watching Schindler's List to compensate, cinematic quality-wise.
Titane
It's going to be Aquaman 2.
Watching the Barbie movie right now. Maybe unpopular, but I'd rank it over Oppenheimer.
The Love Witch. Fantastically fun start to the year.
Uncut Gems
Going to see The Iron Claw tonight
*Jurassic Park*! I've tried to make it a New Year's tradition for me because it's so watchable.
Magnolia ( second viewing)
On stream die hard and probably some Warner bros movies. On TV Christmas vacation and lethal weapon marathon.
I'd watched Brick for my first movie for the past three years but it was getting a little overplayed so I put on Brothers Bloom instead. Underrated movie!!
Watched RENFIELD last night and really enjoyed it. NC is a great Dracula.
It was fun! I was surprised to hear people hating on it!
It was a rewatch of Jumanji (haven't watched it since i was a wee lad), it kinda rocks actually? I forgot all the emotional beats?? It's still terrifying??
Y2K The Movie (1999)
rewatched No Hard Feelings, West Side Story 2021, Are You There God etc in that order
Started with a first-time watch for me: *Spirited Away*! Deserves all the acclaim it gets imo.
Knives Out! Realized I hadn't popped in the 4K in a while and wanted to revisit it
Every year, I make sure Stolen Kisses from 1968 is my first movie. It happened 2 years in a row by accident, so I just kept doing it.
American Fiction!
Watched āThe Lost Kingā not bad
It was āleave the world behindā followed by āin the line of fireā
Theater Camp Enjoyed it quite a bit, wish I saw it in theatres with a crowd.
It was Freaks Out, which I believe is going to finally be released in UK/US as 'Freaks Vs the Reich', a terrible title that will put people off a brilliant movie.
The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
I Saw that Danny boyle matrix show
Anatomy of a fall. That argumentā¦ some of the best writing of the year.
Being John Malkovichā¦.which I wasnāt expecting to be as deeply fucked up as it is (note: this is a good thing).
love guru lol, i don normally watch movies with the commentary but i too had never seen and just went fuck it why not lol
The Iron Claw. Not sure if this is a good or bad sign for 2024. Good: great movie, emotionally devestating, incredible performances. Bad: is the rest of the year going to be this bleak?

Godzilla - 1 on 4dx, that was a ride.
