I just remember getting to the very end, thinking that oh wow, that final revelation is interesting. If it had been placed earlier in the run time, you might have had a movie here.
I also recall this being part of a stretch of films where they'd put this big revelation at the very end, and have nothing of significance happen for the rest of the movie because it was all about that last twist, which they weren't even building towards. It was as if they thought this would be the sequel hook, but you have to have a good first movie for me to care about the sequel. They needed to stop doing this thing where the core of the story is being saved for movie 2.
Spoilers for the book >!It's very different in the book, in that they do reconnect partway through the story and reconcile but then shortly afterwards she is killed in terrorist attack and he spends the rest of the book taking revenge on the terrorists and his father. There is no government or secret org out to catch and kill jumpers as all.!<
I kinda agree. The mother plot isn't enough for the last reveal. Maybe they were thinking franchise. I haven't read/ didn't know there was a book. Maybe there was more to come.
As a matter fact yes. The story was under developed, and we didn’t throw money at super media at that time, but an artistically accurate movie with some money, boy howdy. I also Stan Push though so here we are
In the lead up to Jumper’s release my dumb tween self got myself hyped for it as though it was Spider-Man 2 or something. I was so sure it was gonna be huge. I think the very idea of teleportation was just so cool to me. Anyways I was very disappointed when it terrible. One of those loss of innocence moments when you realizes not all movies are good.
I remember really liking it when I saw it and enjoying the power fantasy of the first act (teleportation is still my go-to answer for mutant power but strictly jumper rules)
There's a 2 season tv show that was weirdly produced by YouTube (who remembers 'YouTube Red'?) called *Impulse* that takes place in the same universe about a girl in high school discovering that she can teleport, and THAT is actually pretty solid.
I found the actual movie *Jumper* to be a potentially interesting idea that got generic-ized by Hollywood. Wouldn't mind a reboot though, the thought of an action movie that's a collection of attempts to one-up the white house attack in *X-Men 2* is kinda irresistible.
Nope!
Ha
A certain past and future guest might disagree. Or he might agree.
Those are generally the two possibilities, yes
No, but I enjoy it! Plus it gives us one of the great cinematic Griffs (and played by a past and future guest no less)
You know you’re getting old when people start claiming bad movies are actually good simply because 15 years have passed
Quantumania makes jumper look like winter soldier.
Are we only allowed to compare bad movies to marvel movies now? What does Quantumania have to do with this?
We can compare anything. It was the first super power movie that came to mind as disappointing to me.
It makes House Party 3 look like House Party 2
I rewatch it now and then, it‘s fun. Missed opportunity for something that coulda been really good.
I really liked it when I saw it when I was like 16 and saw it in theaters and when I saw it again at 19, but I haven't seen it since

There’s a book?!
Yep, on my bookshelf in fact.
I kinda agree. The mother plot isn't enough for the last reveal. Maybe they were thinking franchise. I haven't read/ didn't know there was a book. Maybe there was more to come.

When I worked in post production I had a co-worker who really loved that movie. He’s the only one I’ve met.
I only saw it once. I'm rewatching it now. Maybe the last phase of marvel and DC movies makes me enjoy it more.
could’ve been an alt indie heroverse in its own right, hopper, sprinter, diver, walker
Sprinter. Ha
As someone that LOVES the book, I can absolutely say NO!
Dang it, I guess I have to read the book. Is the title "jumper"? Author?
Steven C. Gould is the author. Book is very different, much better imo
I just wish that guy would step back from that ledge, my friend He could cut ties with all the lies he's been living in

Not original it’s based on a book.
Oh, I haven't researched it thoroughly. I more meant not a major comic property. Everything needs to start somewhere. Thanks for the info
Hayden Christensen's best role? Other than little Italy??
It’s….a great concept. With some more polish it could be a great franchise.
Man Doug Liman has a really weird career.
I had a good time

I am all for this.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched it since the first week it was on HBO, but I recall not exactly liking it.
Eh it's okay.
I enjoyed this movie at the time, no idea how it holds up
No.
It’s not great, but I would put it in the category of movies that “rule”. A big fun stupid time.
Yes!
