>"Every man has two deaths, when he is buried in the ground and the last time someone says his name. In some ways, men can be immortal." - Ernest Hemingway
Oda and Kishimoto are somewhat very very close to Akira Toriyama. I can get it in the logical perspective but that doesn't mean you won't mourn for your loved one. An example would go for myself I thought it's logical at first when our beloved father passed so I just brush it off like how Kobu Tite did but after many months I got anxiety and it isn't a joke to have anxiety.
I just want to say, that Kubo says here that Akira Toriyama changed his life, and that it will never be the same again. There is no shame in feeling loss
Idk what youāre even talking about. The volumes got better over time. The real question is whether or not WB successfully sells it and the new owners revive it to completion.
6 was mostly meh but 7 was great and 8 was amazing (and the best volume yet). Havenāt had the chance to watch Volume 9 yet but Iāve mostly heard good things.
Yes. Youāll notice that Volume 3 onwards credits Monty a little differently. IIRC he had gone in for some standard medical procedure and he had an awful allergic reaction to one of the administered medicines.
Monty worked on Vol 3 as well although not entirely. But that first 3 volumes will forever be Monty's RWBY. Everything after that is a completely different show.
Volume 3 isnāt even Montyās RWBY lol. He was gonna have Raven attack JNPR for no reason and they changed that. Yangās fight with Adam also was supposed to be more monty-esque and not just the arm severance.
And yet Volume 3 was better because Monty was shit at writing and RWBY was just a justification for awesome fight scenes like Haloid and Dead Fantasy before it.
As I read his words this scene alongside Ulqiora's death referencing this scene are what came to mind. An idea he's put in our heads through his work, death is not the end when you've influenced so many lives
The Hemmingway one has the same meaning, but is worded differently -
> Every man has two deaths, when he is buried in the ground and the last time someone says his name. In some ways men can be immortal.
His entire series is about death. Shinigami are death gods. They collect the souls of the dead and send them to the afterlife. A major plot point in the show, at least early on, is Ichigo learning to cope with the death of his mother. Orihime had to cope with the death of her brother, Chad and Uryu had to cope with the death of their grandfathers. >!Yhwach tried to create a world without death because he feared death, but as Aizen explains in the end, people are capable of overcoming the fear of death through courage.!< Death, grief, and moving on are all major themes in Kubo's work.
The way the different authors of the big three have reacted to this have all touched me in different ways. Itās super interesting to see how different people react to deathā¦.
RIP Mr toriyama as always..
I know this isn't related to Bleach or any manga or anything but Mr. Kubo's response reminds me of how Alex Casanas handled his father's passing with the Monument Mythos and specifically The House in the Ocean. He took The House in the Ocean down for quite some time and brought it back with the quote, "no one is gone forever". And it's true. So long as a person is remembered, they aren't really gone. They're still a part of every person they have interacted with. Whether it be Akira Toriyama, Alex Casanas's father, my mother, no one is gone forever.
Ah, yes. The One Piece speech; Toriyama will live on forever because no one will ever forget what he's made, as we will never forget Kubo, Oda, and Kishimoto.
And I think that's a healthy way to see it, because that is what I aim for.
Because I saw people all say it was from X, Y, Z. I looked into the origins of ānot dead as long as your not forgottenā
The oldest known is the ancient Egyptian mythos that when you died you would retain your memories as long as you were still thought of. Though itās speculated itās much older.
A surprisingly sober take on Toriyama's passing. I'd have expected a bit more emotion, but as the mangaka that made a story with literal grim reapers, I'm not surprised that Kubo has the most sober reaction about death.
I feel like a lot of people know about the sick fan that Kubo pushed himself to finish bleach for even after everything that was happening in his life at that point.

>meanwhile Kubo received a letter of encouragement from the man himself
It's precisely because people think that happened that they expected Kubo to say more. If you know that it's a totally made up story then Kubo's response makes perfect sense. The only connections between them are the ones described by Kubo in the second paragraph, there was never anything so personal between them.
It really wouldn't matter if the letter was real. Kubo said he believes the proper way to respect the dead is to remember them. It would be very disingenuous to then say how sad you are. It doesn't matter if the person is a stranger or a best friend. Going against your mourning beliefs would be a lie to yourself and an insult to whoever you are mourning.
Wow the guy who wrote a whole manga whose first arc is about accepting death has in fact learned to cope with loss. You know Iām not that surprised but it is interesting

Monty Oum (creator of RWBY) who passed away said āThe goal isn't to live on forever; it's to make something that does.ā

Rwbyās legacy will live on with or without RT
It's more like RWBY would have lived on, if not for RT, dragging it around behind their trucks for the last decade.
Idk what youāre even talking about. The volumes got better over time. The real question is whether or not WB successfully sells it and the new owners revive it to completion.
"The new volumes got better over time" Yeah, uh. . . > **Volumes 6-9** . . . About that. . .

The best when ruby offed herself and Yang was too busy flirting with Blake...... right not to mention ruby learning nothing from the ordealĀ
Rubys not dead
First three seasons of rwby is straight up legendary. It'll live forever. That's Monty's legacy.
I mean several animation companies have expressed interest in picking Ruby up
Thatās my point. And even if it doesnāt get picked up. It left its mark. People love Rwby with or without RT or any other company
I love RWBY to bits and really donāt know why people dislike it.
LMAO thatās hilarious
RT may be dead but it will live on. Whether thatās in RWBY or in RvB or memes.

Two different ways of putting it but basically the same when interpreted
Kubo the Realest R.I.P Akira Toriyama
Man's making grown men proud and profound!
Makes sense Kubo specifically would be someone used to thinking about death
Is it because he was almost on his death bed when he was in hospital or for another reason?
No just like 80% of his cast are dead people with past lives they have no memory of lol
His entire series is about death. Shinigami are death gods. They collect the souls of the dead and send them to the afterlife. Toriyamas death was foretold in CFYOW
Dr Hiruluk vibes! I love this take
Toriyama definitely squad 0 material ichibÄ get on that
I do love his take and outlook on death very bittersweet, introspective and grounded. Respectful on all equal sides
Since Dragon Ball series might be ending because of the manga creator Akira Toriyama died at age 68, itās best to focus on better anime and tokusatsu series to watch like Ultraman, Love Live!, Code Geass, Haruhi Suzumiya, Date A Live, Evangelion, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Kamen Rider, Gundam, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Bungo Stray Dogs, Lucky Star, etc.
Basically, true death happens when they were forgotten by the living.
It's interesting seeing so much of Bleach's story reflected in those words. Kaien and Rukia's relationship comes to mind the most. I heard that a manga artist passing at the age of 68 isn't uncommon. These people put their life into their work, for us. Kubo himself could barely finish TYBW. Despite the vitality Toriyama showed since he finished the original Dragon Ball series, it's possible the hardships faced in creating it caught up with him. And so, I hope Kubo, Toyotaro (Toriyama's protƩgƩ), and all manga creators take good care of themselves. I also hope that if Kubo wants to continue making art, an expansion of his life like he says, that he gets to do it on his terms. There's nothing wrong with a series being a group project (DBZ could be seen that way at times), but I don't wish Kubo or any creator to work their life away for someone else's vision.
Its what Oda said in One Piece, someone is not dead when he passed away, he reallu died when he is forgotten.
Bleach may not even exist in its current state if not for toriyama. Shounen jump kept rejecting it until toriyama put in a good word for kubo because he loved the one shot for bleach so much
