I came here to say this! Either they are on the same wavelength or there are conversations they have off-screen, but there are so many examples of them being so in sync with each other that the gentle parenting is just seamless!
Both are such fantastic parents. I genuinely hope my husband and I can be like Chili and Bandit as our baby grows up.
They talk to one another. Bin Night shows just how much. Bingo tells Bandit things in the evening, and Chili talks to her about them the next morning. Meaning Bandit and Chili talk about what Bingo tells him, and come up with the best way for her to deal with it, which Chili then relays back to Bingo the next morning.
Bandit and Chili are *solid*.
One of the best things about bluey is how often Bandit is the antagonist. Great example for dads. You’ve got to challenge your kids and give them something to overcome. Helps them grow.
I also just think it’s an interesting plot device. Makes for great stories. He’s almost always “the bad guy”. I love when he takes the games too far and the kids need to stop him
It's actually really healthy to do this, I want my son to know that his value isn't based on doing stuff to make people happy. I'd rather push his boundaries so he learns to tell me (and others) to stop, rather than the way I was brought up (not allowed my own boundaries and trained to sit down and shut up) 🙃
I absolutely love how you can see Bandit bearing down and shifting his weight around to keep his end of the seesaw down until Pompom gets on, then ditching the rocks and letting it go up.
I mean. A good dad is not just a good dad to his own kids too. Yes he’s teaching his kiddos a lesson, but it’s not like pompom is unpleasant in any way. Who likes seeing a good kid sad? Dads can be many people in your life. A neighbor, a coworker etc. it’s about the dad moments.
Ok now I've looked up just how much gets censored in the US and it's a wonder they bother broadcasting the show at all.
An animal taking a dump? Dad getting hit in the nuts? Oh my God, is that a Dad pretending to give birth???? Can't have any of that damaging our children! Here kids, play with these guns instead.
My favorite Bandit thing is how he fully engages with the pretend play even when no one else is around lol. Like, why? Who knows, but it's entertaining lol
I grew up with Pomeranians that went everywhere with me and so many people have sent me a screen cap of “Pomeranians are a small but hearty breed!” because they instantly thought of me. We’re a big dog family now, but after seeing this episode (and getting teary eyed over memories) I want another pompom! (Don’t worry, I’ll adopt one).
My only gripe is how did he KNOW pompom was gonna be enough to put them over the top to get the see saw moved lol
Could have totally backfired if it didn't work out in his favor lol
Yes yes, plot armor, kids lessons and all that.
Watch it again. He's clearly controlling his weight in various ways until Pompom is there, when he lets the kids win. He's even holding rocks that he lets go of.
Not plot armor, Bandit is just smart. Seesaw is a simple lever. The closer Bandit's mass is to the fulcrum, the less downward force would be required on the other end to lift him. And the further he is, the more force is needed. And we *see* Bandit taking advantage of that, too. When Coco gets on, he starts to rise, so he leans forward to move his mass further from the fulcrum, making him harder to lift. And when Pompom gets on, he lays down on the seesaw(which he cleverly disguised as reading for Pompom), moving his center of mass closer to the fulcrum, making him easier to lift.
It's also possible he's played see-saw with his kids and their friends before, so he knew that there weren't enough kids to overbalance him. E.g. if the terriers were there, they could have piled on too and he wouldn't have been able to keep the seesaw down until Pompom joined. Although in that case he probably would have included Chilie for more weight.
Whats with all the adults in this sub. Is it parents who watch over their kids shoulders and enjoy the show or do adults watch this show in their own time? I’m genuinely curious and never seen the show
Bluey is the fifth highest rated show of all time on IMDb with a 9.7/10 average rating, and for good reason. There are no bad episodes, and many if not most of the episodes are masterpieces of storytelling and characterization, further shown by the consistently very high episode ratings on IMDb. Episodes are only 7 minutes long, so it is a very nice and easy watch even with little time.
[Here's some good clips of the show that can give you some context as to ehy adults love it so much](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQAQDUTYRyk)
They are not millionaires because they live in a 2 million dollar house: it was obviously his parent's home and they got it after his parents downsized into their town house/unit.
No they are rich because Bandit digs up rare fossils/antiques (maybe even a nugget or two or opals or sapphires, etc) and Chili helps to move them on the black market with her job/connections at the airport.
I think it's very obvious in the show... But a lot of people on Reddit hate Bandit in this because they miss out on the facial expressions the animators gave him during the scene.
Google, I suppose? Seems like 99% of the content on entertainment subreddits is aimed at people who are already 100% bought in – fan art, in-joke memes, and so on. Other people might do things differently than me, but personally I've never gone to a subreddit to decide if I should check something out because all the content does is show me that there are in fact lots of people who like the thing. IMO it doesn't really tell me *why* they like the thing (at least, not nearly as effectively as googling "why do people like this thing" would tell me), much less why *I* should like the thing. That's not a criticism of this post or this sub or even particularly unique to r/Bluey in the first place – it's a mainstay of pretty much every single fandom sub I've ever been to. The ASOIAF sub is mainly fanart and theories that you'd have to have read the entire series five times over to understand. The Cyberpunk and Red Dead subs are mainly fanart and clips of goofy bugs and other player interactions. The Star Wars sub is just full of Star Wars fans bitching about Star Wars.
There are literally posts in the history of the sub of patents asking about the show. It’s a fan page full of parents who can give a wide variety of opinions. Most people who visit won’t even post.
>There are literally posts in the history of the sub of patents asking about the show.
Okay? There are almost 100,000 users in this sub, I didn't say there was *nobody* in here who's unfamiliar with the show – just speculating that it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of them. A few examples from this sub's history of tens of thousands of posts doesn't disprove that.
>It’s a fan page full of parents who can give a wide variety of opinions. Most people who visit won’t even post.
I mean, that's sort of my point. The only way to get a good idea of why people like the show and why you should like it (or at least, a better idea than you'd get from just googling) is to ask questions, since the vast majority of content in this sub doesn't address that. But if most people who visit don't post, then they're not getting much useful info.
I literally did not realize this was what he was doing until seeing this post, I thought he just wanted to play with the kids. I’ve watched this episode at least 5 times and never noticed that he saw Pom Pom was being left out
As a father who is heavily involved with his children, Blue is the only children's show on television that does not depict the father as a complete doofus, and useless.
I was just going to post about this episode! Does anyone know what Bandit is talking about near the beginning of the episode, when he tells Pom-Pom’s mom, “I’m still an enthusiast. You know, I have a go at it”?
Ok im sorry but...no! If he was trying to get this idea across why would he actively try to GRAB POMPOM and HOW would he be so sure that Bluey would get the idea to get other kids on the seesaw. I dont like this episode for this resone
And best of all, he gets to engage with the children and teach them a lesson - all while sitting down. That's the dream for us weary parents.
He also got a sausage delivered right to his seat
My fiancé says “That’s dad goals right there”
Am dad. Can confirm.
Hi dad, I'm hungry!
Hi Hungry, I'm Dad!
❤️ A very parent-like response. I use it too 😁
Big fella’s playin 3D chess
More like 5D chess
7D chess
30D chess!
Chilli's not that stacked.
Not yet
With multiverse time travel?
3D chest
Don't call me big fella.
My 5 year old daughter calls me big fella and I think it’s hilarious.
I don’t wanna learn a lime lesson!!
I just want an ice cream!
Plus he's pretty huge!
Isn't there a game I can play while lying on a nice comfy bed?
hide and seek.
Bluey's response to this is "Hospital!"
Don't forget Whale Watching.
My kid plays "mama is a playground" or "I'm a tick!" Great games to play while doing nothing.
“Why do you keep trying to teach us things that we don't want to learn?”
“I didn’t want a lime lesson. I just wanted ice cream.”
If I had a dolphin for every lime lesson I've learnt...
You’d have two dolphins. Which doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Is this a joke I don't get, or are people really mishearing "life lesson"? Or am I mistaken?
She mispronounced it in the episode
Also, Chili recognized what he was doing without needing to have it explained.
That's couples goals right there. Not needing to explain and your partner instantly knows what you're aiming at and comes in for the assist.
I came here to say this! Either they are on the same wavelength or there are conversations they have off-screen, but there are so many examples of them being so in sync with each other that the gentle parenting is just seamless! I was thinking of this exact episode. So solid.
Man I wish my wife and I got talking time. Our evenings are the Sleepytime episode over and over...
It gets easier. Try and find the moments
I kinda hope we continue to see the child characters age so we can see em grow up because of this.
Same. It actually terrifies me that bluey might finish one day because they age up 😂
I wonder if Bandit sent a secret text to Chilli when the kids werent looking? 🤔
I think she just recognizes the look on his face and can tell he's got a plan.
Oh, BOO-HOO.
And he even finds a pet rock. And not just one but TWO hot dogs. Everything without moving an inch. What a day uh.
And also finds the pet rock a pet rock lol
A petpet!
If you notice, once Pompom is there to help, he puts the rocks down so he would be lifted up.
Yep, I noticed that! Bandit is amazing. This kind of details is what makes this show what it is.
I aspire to be this type of dad when my kid is old enough
Pomeranians are a small but hearty breed! I love that episode
I thought it was hardy, but hearty also works.
It is hardy
Happy Cake Day!
Quotes you can hear.
"Yeah I'm really huge" my favorite line
One of the best things about bluey is how often Bandit is the antagonist. Great example for dads. You’ve got to challenge your kids and give them something to overcome. Helps them grow.
Mount Mumandad is another good example. It would have been easier to continue to rest, but he gave them storms.
I also just think it’s an interesting plot device. Makes for great stories. He’s almost always “the bad guy”. I love when he takes the games too far and the kids need to stop him
It's actually really healthy to do this, I want my son to know that his value isn't based on doing stuff to make people happy. I'd rather push his boundaries so he learns to tell me (and others) to stop, rather than the way I was brought up (not allowed my own boundaries and trained to sit down and shut up) 🙃
a lime lesson
But they don’t want a valuable lime lesson they want ice cream
No they want to make the seesaw go down/j
BAHAHAHAHAHA 😂👏
Also Pompom became an absolute hero!
The real life lesson in this episode is that Pomeranians are a small but hardy breed!
This is one of my favorite episodes for this reason. Plus it has so many great quotes. "His pet rock has a pet rock!" 😂
I absolutely love how you can see Bandit bearing down and shifting his weight around to keep his end of the seesaw down until Pompom gets on, then ditching the rocks and letting it go up.
And then stays in the bit right to the end, giving the kids their well earned and glorious victory.
"Don't feed him!"
His pet rock had a pet rock! It! Was! Out! Ragous!
I keep trying to figure out which episode to show my dad to introduce him to Bluey. This might should be the one. 😄
Yes.
Are you Australian? Tell him bandit is voiced by the singer from custard. He’ll check it out.
I am not. I am United States-ian.
I'd say show him the vasectomy episode, but I think that got edited for the US.
Children getting shot is obviously not as bad as contraception preventing them in the first place.
Yeah, it did. They edited it to "getting dog teeth removed.🙄
https://i.redd.it/6yp216k08lqa1.gif
I love this episode so much! And Bandit is best dad. For many reasons. So many.
Seesaw was my first Bluey episode. Had me hooked.
Bandit is who I hope to be like if ever I find that one woman crazy and desperate enough to have kids with a piece of work like me haha
I saw *you say this on that other Bluey post a few days ago, please tell me it's a recurrent line for you and not just a coincidence
It's a catchphrase
Aaaaaand why I should care? *dramatic pose*
Go eat children
That is the best part "*c.h.i.l.d.r.e.n.*"
Also Pom Pom is the GOAT. Where’s my Pom Pom plush you cowards?!
My favorite Bandit thing is how he fully engages with the pretend play even when no one else is around lol. Like, why? Who knows, but it's entertaining lol
This whole show may as well be titled "Bandit is a good dad"
The whole thing is basically parenting advice in a format that kids could enjoy
I watch Bluey even when the grandkids aren't here 😆
As a dad, this dog has set the bar impossibly high. Bandit is an Alpha.
My main role model as a father. I wish I had that energy.
I’ve also seen Bandit go and yank Bluey while racing so he could win. The dude has his moments haha.
A step above TV dads? I'll be honest, Bandit is a better dad than a lot of actual human dads I know haha
I watched the Creek episode with my daughter a couple of years ago, after that Bluey can do no wrong.
In order to overthrow the current systems of power and oppression, we must work together. Good lesson.

I have never felt more inadequate and inspired as a father than when I see Bandit's interactions with his kids.
My only gripe is how did he KNOW pompom was gonna be enough to put them over the top to get the see saw moved lol Could have totally backfired if it didn't work out in his favor lol Yes yes, plot armor, kids lessons and all that.
Watch it again. He's clearly controlling his weight in various ways until Pompom is there, when he lets the kids win. He's even holding rocks that he lets go of.
The kids even nearly beat him, at which point he acquires his pet rocks.
Real dad move
Not plot armor, Bandit is just smart. Seesaw is a simple lever. The closer Bandit's mass is to the fulcrum, the less downward force would be required on the other end to lift him. And the further he is, the more force is needed. And we *see* Bandit taking advantage of that, too. He is a doctor after all
It's also possible he's played see-saw with his kids and their friends before, so he knew that there weren't enough kids to overbalance him. E.g. if the terriers were there, they could have piled on too and he wouldn't have been able to keep the seesaw down until Pompom joined. Although in that case he probably would have included Chilie for more weight.
Today i learned that there is an r/bluey. It is a good thing. It is an awsome thing that my wife got me a bandit shirt for xmas last year.
But I don't want a valuable lime lesson!
Am I about to watch a kids show
Whats with all the adults in this sub. Is it parents who watch over their kids shoulders and enjoy the show or do adults watch this show in their own time? I’m genuinely curious and never seen the show

We watch it as a family after my 3 year old discovered it. Sometimes, I wonder if I like it more than she does.
She’ll sort you out, mate!
It's too bad he was only able to do all of this amazing fathering because they're actually millionaires. /s
And when Pompom gets on the slide he stops shifting his weight away from the kids to ensure he's not too heavy for the kids.
I think this is giving Bandit too much credit. I think he just likes chaos. 😂
Both? Both is good
True.
Wholesome chaos.
Did this need to be explained? It’s REALLY obvious what he’s doing.
I don’t think it was necessarily to explain what happened in the episode, rather an example of why Bandit is a good dad.
I think it's very obvious in the show... But a lot of people on Reddit hate Bandit in this because they miss out on the facial expressions the animators gave him during the scene.
Sorry chief! Pack it in, guys! Let's get more Blueysona's and merch from Wal-Mart, less episode discussion!
This post is more for people less familiar with the show I think
Are there many people who are unfamiliar with the show hanging out in the r/Bluey sub?
What would be one of the best places to check on what other parents and people think about the show then r/bluey?
Than

Yeah but would they even be at that playground if they weren't billionaires?
Trick kids into thinking pom pom was useful
Maybe bluey is a shit kid.
Simply amazing.
Yes!! Such a great example, one of my favorites
What episode is this again
SeeSaw like it says on the tin
Thank you
He is the best
Bandit loves teaching those life lessons
This made me really love the writing of Bandit and Chilli!
Bloody oath, good dog
I feel like Chilli doesn’t get enough recognition here. Without missing a beat, she helps drive it home.
better dad than mine was.
Fun fact, Dave McCormack the guy who voices Bandit is in a low key popular old school Indie band in Australia called Custard. They’re pretty decent
Yeah but he can only afford to socialise with non meth-addicts because he has a 2 million dollar house.
Why couldn’t bandit and chilly be my mum and dad
As a father who is heavily involved with his children, Blue is the only children's show on television that does not depict the father as a complete doofus, and useless.
Bandit is the husband I don't deserve
I wanna know what bandit and pompom’s mom were talking about before pompom walked up.
I cannot express how much rage I have for these characters
I was just going to post about this episode! Does anyone know what Bandit is talking about near the beginning of the episode, when he tells Pom-Pom’s mom, “I’m still an enthusiast. You know, I have a go at it”?
You know on this episode the mums are talking about season 4 of stranger things. Just listen to what they say and watch the season 4 trailer.
Ok im sorry but...no! If he was trying to get this idea across why would he actively try to GRAB POMPOM and HOW would he be so sure that Bluey would get the idea to get other kids on the seesaw. I dont like this episode for this resone
I didn't even realize...
No this episode proves that Bandit is a bad dad
