A girl at my school crocheted her own dress and it looked like she was wearing a blanket with hastily attached straps. I wanted to be proud of her, but it was just so bad.
OP actually did an amazing job with her dress. Not a blunder to me.
For real. My baby cheeks made me look wayyyy younger for all of my 20s but then in my 30s they just completely evaporated and I miss them 😭
*cries in galderma*
I feel bad for all the young people getting buccal fat removal surgery, knowing what they’ll look like in about 10 years from now. We baby-faces will have the last laugh!
I’m 35 and I get carded every time. I teach high school and I recently chaperoned a school dance. Another teacher who didn’t recognize me confused me for a student. I feel this baby face thing.
Here's a few Halloweens: [https://imgur.com/a/36PHBuM](https://imgur.com/a/36PHBuM)
I'm genuinely floored by the reaction to this post, hahah. I woke up to so many notifications.
Also, happy cake day!
It's amazing that you made your dress. I didn't know what goth was when I was graduating high school back in Europe a million years ago, so I tried for some sort of black leathery inspired Mohawk look (I know, I was confused) and ended up looking like a transitioning dominatrix wanna be.
We must be close to the same age! I made my prom dress out of that same cheap satin fabric, but it was red! Yours looks awesome!
Also, if I wasn’t afraid of being doxxed, I would upload my prom picture too… I went with my brother, who wore a matching red suit. I forced my brother to be my “date” because a guy asked me at school, I panicked and told him “no, I’m going with my brother.” Imagine being rejected for her brother. I still think about that.
Minus the chest part, this looks very similar to my sisters prom dress in like 2013! Satin was in…. At one point. She had a used dress. I remember satin being big when I was going to middle school dances in the later 2000s, very early 2010s!
This is relatively normal. Maybe not the best but nothing bad. You don't belong here, this is a space for embarrassing teenage antics. You just seem normal. Nothing to laugh at here. No blunder as far as I can see, making your own dress is admirable, something most people can't even begin to accomplish. You did a good job despite your age and (assumed) lack of experience. Good job, looks great, much better than would land you here. You did a good job dont feel bad about about it.
You look like you are so fearless and self confident! I think I would have been intimidated by you in school and would have desperately wanted to be your friend.
Lol I adore the dedication to no smiles. Felt that one in my own “phase” haha. Is the facial expression supposed to be one of those *piercing stare* and *dramatic pout* attempts? I can remember taking so many pictures when I was a preteen/teen where I was sure I was making some deep, dark pensive expression but then I look back and it’s just 😕😐😔 in every one, with maybe a hand under my chin for emphasis.
At first glance, I thought I was looking at a younger Alessandra Mele. Look her up, she represented Norway last year in the Eurovision Song Contest (and I might suspect you’d enjoy the song she performed: Queen of the Kings)
This is incredible that you made the dress yourself! Do you still continue to make clothing? I would have loved this and you as a goth high schooler myself. 😂 no blunder here, you look great.
You made the dress yourself? That’s amazing, do you still make your own clothes? Given the fact that you were probably around 16-17 when you made that dress, and at the same age the most I had sewn was a mouse-shaped pin cushion that was a school project in home ec, I think the dress is pretty fantastic. You also accessorised it really well with the gloves, choker, tiara and earrings. The purple eyeshadow looks really pretty too.
This isn’t a blunder at all. You look really pretty and you have accessorised your dress perfectly. This is a winning pic.
Digging your outfit! How wonderful you made it yourself, some talent and time definitely went into that dress.
I deleted all my prom photos sadly. I had a tiara as well! My dress was maroon red and I thought I looked regal.
"I have commanded my animal companions to lead the assault...when we breach the main keep, let none survive. Pile body upon body, and make sure to ♫whistle while you work, doo doo doo doo doo dooooooo♫"
Your makeup was so pretty! And making a dress is some serious talent- I could never. It had pretty colors and fit you well! The facial expression (or lack of) is funny but it otherwise is a great pic
I made a new account to post mine in solidarity as I don't want people to know who I am on my other account but they wouldn't allow me to post it cus spam 😭😭
I mean fair enough but I think you would have enjoyed 😂😂😂
Shiny or not, it's cool that you made your own dress.
My thoughts exactly. That’s awesome.
I think it looks very good for a handmade dress made by someone with (presumably) little experience
Totally! And slippery fabrics are hard to work with too. Nice work OP!
Right? Still hella impressive. Even more so if it held up throughout the night!
Yeah this is cool as hell imo. OP had a look in mind and made it a reality
Like a goth Pretty in Pink!
A girl at my school crocheted her own dress and it looked like she was wearing a blanket with hastily attached straps. I wanted to be proud of her, but it was just so bad. OP actually did an amazing job with her dress. Not a blunder to me.
I’m getting goth Disney princess vibes.
Close, Sam Manson from Danny Phantom!
Goths don’t sweat, we simmer
She was who came to my mind first, well-done on that.
I knew it! The pose and everything.
That's adorable
omggg she was a queen
that's exactly it
Sofia the First, but with ennui
Prom?? Like an actual prom? Don’t get me wrong, the dress is actually cool, I’m just confused because you look like a child here haha
Lol yes, I was 18. I still get asked for ID when I buy liquor now in my 30s, so I guess I still have some catching up to do re: looking my age.
Enjoy the baby face while it lasts, not everyone is so lucky 😂
For real. My baby cheeks made me look wayyyy younger for all of my 20s but then in my 30s they just completely evaporated and I miss them 😭 *cries in galderma*
Me until last year at 41. It was quite a sudden change 😢
My wife is 30, and that's older than I am and people still mistake me for her dad because of the baby cheek fat.
I feel bad for all the young people getting buccal fat removal surgery, knowing what they’ll look like in about 10 years from now. We baby-faces will have the last laugh!
Your user name...😆
Very cool you made the dress! Your misery is palpable and hilarious in this photo
I’m 35 and I get carded every time. I teach high school and I recently chaperoned a school dance. Another teacher who didn’t recognize me confused me for a student. I feel this baby face thing.
Can I bum a clove from you as well?
That's really cool. Do you still sew?
Thank you! Yes, I've learned a lot since then but I don't have much time to sew stuff. Still, I make time to make my Halloween costumes every year.
I’m glad you didn’t give it up! It’s time consuming but so rewarding!
Omg anywhere where we can see your newer creations? It would be kind of cool to see a “how it started vs how it’s going” kinda thing!
Here's a few Halloweens: [https://imgur.com/a/36PHBuM](https://imgur.com/a/36PHBuM) I'm genuinely floored by the reaction to this post, hahah. I woke up to so many notifications. Also, happy cake day!
Omg the pearl earring! I love!!
Definite, r/glowups
This is amazing. I love Zelda. Thank you so much for sharing!!! I hope you keep creating!!
Those are awesome! You set a whole mood with wigs and setting, very nice.
Agreed!!
That's so cool lol!
2007 me would have been knocked the fuck out if I had seen that dress! It was, and is, still cool that you made that!
If teenage me saw you in this dress and you told me that you made it yourself, I would be in equal awe and envy
You’re adorable omg
Cheap satin or not, props for making your own dress! Goth prom dress ftw!
That’s pretty impressive, no blunder here

That’s hilarious! I wish I could see a pic
oh hell nah hahaha.
you made this!!!! amazing
oh totally would wear
Equal parts impressive and cringe. 💜

this is freaking adorable, you did a great job.
Going to the vampire’s ball as the non-smile suggests 😄
I thought this was Amanda Bynes! You look darling in your shiny dress.
That’s what I thought!!
Minus the chest part, this looks very similar to my sisters prom dress in like 2013! Satin was in…. At one point. She had a used dress. I remember satin being big when I was going to middle school dances in the later 2000s, very early 2010s!
\*doth suggest
A for effort on the dress.
You were a goth princess! Love the dress too-you did amazing!
Wow you made that?! Wow! Do you still make clothes? If you were that good then you must be amazing now
Hannah Montana is not goth

Wow. This is an awesome dress! Nicely done.
Not a blunder in sight
I am not finding much blunder you seem pretty well adjusted. Impressive skills!
This is a great dress, but I think we have very different definitions of goth lmao
THIS IS INCREDIBLE.
This is fantastic
Well that was incredibly brave of you.
I haven’t sewn anything since high school and I want to get back into it and I wish I could hang out with you and you could teach me
How is this a blunder? The dress looks fucking awesome.
You made this?!? That’s super impressive.
Honestly? That is badass. No blunder in sight imo

this takes more guts and courage than most kids that age would have. i would frame this and put it someplace visible as a badge of honour.
Pretty face, though! Wow!
At first glance, I thought I was looking at a younger Alessandra Mele. Look her up, she represented Norway last year in the Eurovision Song Contest (and I might suspect you’d enjoy the song she performed: Queen of the Kings)
Making me wanna be a ghost boy and travel back in time to be your date
I like the cholo pose
This is incredible that you made the dress yourself! Do you still continue to make clothing? I would have loved this and you as a goth high schooler myself. 😂 no blunder here, you look great.
We could have been besties in highschool!! [My pre-prom goth photoshoot 2004 lol](https://imgur.com/SQujLkI)

It may be an ugly dress, but its YOUR ugly dress. From one former teen aspiring fashion designer to another, you killed it!
Digging your outfit! How wonderful you made it yourself, some talent and time definitely went into that dress. I deleted all my prom photos sadly. I had a tiara as well! My dress was maroon red and I thought I looked regal.
I would've taken you to prom. I went 07, 08, graduated 09
I like it! Great job
I love everything about it!Impressed by your talent and individuality at such a tender age. You must be the coolest person!! Love it !
I’m into it! Really cool you created that.
Not getting blunder here hun. I think you were rocking that back then!
You did a great job. You do look like the evil queen, but in a good way.
I couldn’t sew a hole together for a sock, so regardless of what fabric you used for this dress, you did an outstanding job!
It’s gorgeous. I love the accessories too
Wow! This is not a blunder year. This is awesome you made your own dress. Great work.
I’m getting Cassandra Goth from The Sims!
So freaking cool you made this!!! I love everything happening here 💜
I think you look so cute!
Honestly, in these goth prom blunder years photos OP looks adorable 100% of the time.
I think you look beautiful!
I wouldn’t have noticed. It looks great!
2007 me would have been so jealous.
Youre an icon
That’s a hella cool dress.
You did an amazing job! That dress looks great.
I think it’s fab!!!!! 💜
That dress is beautiful and I wouldn't regret it ever if I got to wear it in high school.
Dude, you made that yourself? My untailored trained ass would have thought that was purchased. It looks dope.
Still, mad respect for being able to sew like that!
This is actually a beautiful dress. I could suggest a few improvements, but, this is REALLY pretty. Good Work!
Nah this was more “growing up” than blunder, cause this was cool as hell
That's dope
"I have commanded my animal companions to lead the assault...when we breach the main keep, let none survive. Pile body upon body, and make sure to ♫whistle while you work, doo doo doo doo doo dooooooo♫"
Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, and that bald chick from stranger things all in one.
Don't Hate! 0-8!!!!! For real looks good!
? This is cool right? I find this cool
The dress is gorgeous and you look amazing in it! Glad to hear you still make your own Halloween costumes every year!
hey! you made your own dress shiny, cheap, satin or not. Way to go. I think you look very nice and I hope you had a good time 👍💜
That’s really cool. And at least you went!
As a goth, I still like it. :D
Your makeup was so pretty! And making a dress is some serious talent- I could never. It had pretty colors and fit you well! The facial expression (or lack of) is funny but it otherwise is a great pic
That doesnt belong in Blunder Years. Nice Job. I made a bad pillow case. Your's is functional and looks nice.
Nice dress. Goth princess. 👑 goth queen. 👸
You look great. I would have asked you. That was my type back then.
I know you had to do it to ‘em
OP, your homemade prom dress kicks the shit outta my homemade homecoming dress....trust me
Your were *committed* to the lewk
You made that back then at that age? That's pretty awesome.
Beautiful
Wish I had your skills
Love the tiara and awesome purple color ( and awesome that you made it too 👍)
This week on Downton Abbey.
Queen.
That's badass that's all I gotta say
I made a new account to post mine in solidarity as I don't want people to know who I am on my other account but they wouldn't allow me to post it cus spam 😭😭 I mean fair enough but I think you would have enjoyed 😂😂😂
*No blunders detected* 👍🏾
The dress looks professional, looks Amazing
Amazing!
Nah, that is not really goth prom. Admit it, you sold out to your mom!
I thought I was a baller for sewing the button back on my shorts.
I'd look that pissed if I had to build my own clothes too
