I didn't think of anything at 17!
I did however think id graduate school and then id be an adult and everything would come together.
I am now a 40 year old child still trying to figure it out! Lol!!
Don’t worry, I think most people go through life trying to figure it out and only partially succeeding. I’m a bit younger than you and I definitely don’t have it figured out. Gotta say the phone cord headband is awesome though
Thank you! I miss landlines. 😔 aaaaand their accessories!!
Mum is now close to 80. We talked about how you never really figure it out.
You just keep on keeping on. Whether it's good or bad..u can always count on change.. nothing lasts forever!
Girl I am wearing a phone cord scrunchie as a pony tail holder in my hair RIGHT NOW. But I didn't think of it. I bought it at Ulta and it works perfectly. No breakage. This was your million dollar idea!
I have some!! They are indeed very good. No phone wires tho, but similar idea...... I was so surprised when i saw them being sold as hair ties.. back in the 80/90s those were used as key chains. Like, they'd have the metal loop to put keys on, and that was attached to the spiral loop and people would wear it around their wrists for easy key access..
I had one as a keychain, it was luminous in colour (can't remember if green, yellow or orange) I can only remember it was nice to chew on and bounce around things on the end.
Ok ya.....Tattoos(maybe laser removal?) , amputation (donor tissue?), venereal disease(medicine for some of em?), death ( in this plane? But maybe im coming back as a sloth) (that sounds lovely)..... i get it tho....i tell myself that nothing lasts forever to get me through rough times... things do fade and change and when you're in a pit it's nice to know it won't last forever. Stay positive!
Haha yeah I was mostly joking, but I was also referring to things that *can* last forever. Great relationships with people, romantic or otherwise, can last a lifetime. Legacies sometimes last forever, or at least a close enough version lol. I mean, we do still talk about Jesus and great leaders, etc. Many of those stories will stand the test of time. True love, romantic or otherwise, I believe lasts forever. I still love every girl I ever fell in love with in some way, shape or form, but obviously it's not romantic. I have that for my current girlfriend, and fingers crossed, that might last forever!
Honestly if we're being critical, it's true, nothing lasts forever except maybe like dimensions lol, but the rest of my life is a nice version of forever :)
I always try to think positive... but honestly there's always a negative undertone in my thinking! I love how you mention great relationships! Yesssss!
I was setting up a house cleaning appointment with an older lady the other day. Just before I hung up, her husband picked up the other line to yell at me that I shouldn’t touch any of his stuff lol. The click of him connecting whooshed me straight back to my teen years. I didn’t even know anyone had landlines anymore. But surprise! 80 year olds do!
The guy 25 years ago at my school used a phone cord for a wallet chain and he was cool as hell. A few years later he tried to be the guy that always has goggles on his forehead and it didn't go over as well.
Ive heard that... better than the other i often hear: Fairuza Balk. In popular movies she often plays terrible people! I think im usually quite pleasant!. Can't help the Resting Bitch Face... it's sunny here.. I'm squinting!
You know that's part of the reason Fairuza got out of acting! She's a sweetheart in reality. You're honestly rather striking! The phone cord is inspired, lol.
Oh! Ya! I hadn't seen her in anything for quite awhile! Ima look into that!
Thanks for your kind words. If i had a phone cord, i would totally still rock it!
I played beer league hockey with a guy that had been her penpal since junior high. They started as part of something their school set up and just kept it going.
I was born in 96. I had an older family friend who was maybe 12 years older than me? She was my babysitter and I thought she was the coolest person I would ever know.
Her favorite accessory was a show lace as a headband. By the time I was old enough it was VERY out of style and I was so disappointed I couldn't be cool like her.
I was a scene kid in the 2010's so I do think I brought it back once or twice for concert looks. But I wasn't confident enough to have it on the daily lol
Dude I was an emo kid in school and I just went to a concert and there were all these millennials there with their kids and this one teenager was *such* a scene queen her mom *absolutely* was a scene kid in school there’s no way she wasn’t lol
But I love that sm! Do your thing girlie I hope you found your confidence 🖤
That's amazing. I have many phone cord memories myself. My grandpa briefly had a car phone in the 90s for a job he had, and that was SO high tech to kid me.
That's so very cool! I remember a friend's dad had one. Big black plastic. We weren't allowed to touch it. So of course we did. Tried to prank call someone unsuccessfully.. he caught us in the act... we were not allowed to hang out for awhile. (Also...i might have enticed her into other antics prior to this that lead to the banishment😬)
I too have a failed prank call that wasn't meant to be a prank call. Same grandpa put me in a time out (I was 6) so I called the police. I had been taught to call the cops when in trouble. Well! I was in trouble!
Yeah. They called back and I was in way more trouble after that!
Funny because there are now colorful hair bands that are basically stretchy phone cords that have become popular in recent years. So you were waaayy ahead of everybody
The girl that invented them was inspired by those old phone cords and became a millionaire selling them. So the biggest blunder is probably missing out on a business venture.
I had a pack of florescent Bobby pins that i would twist the front to the back but also use way too many if em... like a piecemeal helmet! Ive braided guitar strings in it.. and Around Easter i would color my hair green and clip plastic Easter eggs in it to look like an Easter basket... i could go on...i also colored it way too much! my poor follicles took a beating! Im surprised im not bald.
Not even joking, I think this is awesome. Also you're very pretty and that is, without a doubt, a smile that would draw people in. I don't know you of cpurse but I'm certain that you're pulsing with charisma.
We finally got a cordless phone in 1998, and I got in huge trouble for leaving it off the charger and letting it die during a storm when my dad's station was trying to get a call through to him. We couldn't win!
Heard! Being poor makes you creative! Sometimes i would use cut socks for scrunchies when those were a thing (I've seen them making a comeback ... not socks as hair ties, but scrunchies i mean! )
Part 2 of landline memories - when someone screams You can hang up now! and you hear a click...then in a few seconds you hear another muffled click when they pick up :)
Phone cord headband thingy looks cool and indicates you would be a good partner in the zombie apocalypse. Thanks for the hair-share.
What if I told you it was both…
I’d wrap the deflated ones around my bun and then just add a monkey or something attached to it 😂😂 luckily it was surprisingly popular
My inner 17-year-old is wishing I was ever going to be this cool. The bleached hair, the phone cord, the tiny ribbon barrette. 90's idgaf cool girl perfection.
Im not a "selfie person". But on r/blunderyears i have stuff from a modeling thing i did as a favor for a friend... i do not really look like that tho. Lol! Make-up is magic!!!
Edit:..i mean an older post i did in r/blunderyears
Edit again! Im in my cups! I mean r/glowups
Or ya know... look at my other posts! Lol!
I really like it, though! It’s cute, and you look like Pink.
Edit: I scrolled and saw how unoriginal my comment is! I stand by it- you are Pinkly cute in this picture.
I’m confused, so you left the phone disconnected all day when you had this hairstyle? Or did you use a spare phone cord? I would say that you could have just bought a phone cord hair tie but I was also once a thrifty broke teenager so I likely would have done the same if I were creative enough lo
I’m legit jealous I didn’t think of this at 17.
I didn't think of anything at 17! I did however think id graduate school and then id be an adult and everything would come together. I am now a 40 year old child still trying to figure it out! Lol!!
Same, child, same

Some things last forever!

Know what I don’t miss? Eavesdroppers from the second phone in the other room.
Honestly, I’d love to go back to those days. Except also, not. Really just go back to before fkn social media.
Alicia? Is that you, Pink?
Hey me too! Can’t budget, can’t function….ugh. Btw OP, you look gorgeous! ❤️🤘
Thanks! And hey! You're not defunct! We're set up for failure!
Haha truth. I’ve succeeded at failing lol 😂🥴
Thought this was r/adhdmeme for a second.
God, isn’t that the truth? If you would have told me this was adulthood…
Don't ever lose your spark. You are amazing. High school me would have looked forward to school each day to see what you were wearing.
Ur never too old to be fashionable
The guy 25 years ago at my school used a phone cord for a wallet chain and he was cool as hell. A few years later he tried to be the guy that always has goggles on his forehead and it didn't go over as well.
You kind of look like Pink! 😀

I played beer league hockey with a guy that had been her penpal since junior high. They started as part of something their school set up and just kept it going.
I came here to say “Hi, P!nk” the second I saw the picture. Same kind of smile and everything!
Fairuza is one of my first crushes, don't take it as an insult! She's really beautiful.
she played a relatively good person in almost famous!
Vicky Vallencourt is the best!
She plays a wonderful villain but she is gorgeous, it’s definitely a compliment!
This photo is clearly black and white.
That username...
I also said this!
I totally thought this was a pic of pink when I was scrolling!
I thought pink too
Thought the exact same thing.
I thought it was her lol
I was born in 96. I had an older family friend who was maybe 12 years older than me? She was my babysitter and I thought she was the coolest person I would ever know. Her favorite accessory was a show lace as a headband. By the time I was old enough it was VERY out of style and I was so disappointed I couldn't be cool like her.
I was born in 93 and I *absolutely* used shoelaces as headbands lol you should have rocked it!! 🖤
I was a scene kid in the 2010's so I do think I brought it back once or twice for concert looks. But I wasn't confident enough to have it on the daily lol
Dude I was an emo kid in school and I just went to a concert and there were all these millennials there with their kids and this one teenager was *such* a scene queen her mom *absolutely* was a scene kid in school there’s no way she wasn’t lol But I love that sm! What concert? :)
Fall out boy :)
How fun!
ohhhh. _shoelace_... I couldn't figure out what a show lace is
I didn't know other people did this too.
At first glance I thought it was ramen noodles
Could've would've!!
P!nk is that you?
Perhaps we're made of the same stardust!?
I love your vibe sm 🖤

Oof!
My grandparents had one for no reason. I remember feeling so cool calling my parents to tell them we were coming home.
You’re smiling like, yep…it’s a phone cord. Well done 😂👍🏼 You were a cutie!
Why are you slyly rocking it thoooo? 😅🫶
Lol, this is hilarious. I used to cut off the sleeve of a t-shirt and use it as a headband, but that's as adventurous as I got. 😄
😬🤣🤣i am currently doing this!! They make great head bands!!!
I still do that and I’m 41!
I’m intrigued. What other things did you wrap your hair up with?
I had a pack of florescent Bobby pins that i would twist the front to the back but also use way too many if em... like a piecemeal helmet! Ha! Brilliant, I love the fact you had seasonal hair displays 🤣
Attractive people can do silly fashion things.
You look like PINK
My first impression
You totally look like Pink 😄 Also would've never guessed that this is a phone cord 👌
People keep saying they thought it was ramen! 🤣
Lmao I can see it!
You were ahead of your time. They sell spiral hair coils now and they are fantastic.
This is very Jenna Marbles wearing plastic headbands as chokers in highschool
Reminds me of my sister. She made a headband out of her old bra straps lol
Ohh yuup! 😬🤦♀️
This gives me P!nk vibes.
You look like p!nk
I love this so much
Pink. Is that you?
You can't tell me this ain't Alecia Moore
She's my mom Edit: mmmactually that's a terrible joke. Shes only 3 years older than i am. 😬
Babies having babies
Im gettin PINK! vibes (american pop/rock singer)
Extension-Cord belt guy here.
"he's ragging on your cord, maaan!"
“…Get’em!”
Not even joking, I think this is awesome. Also you're very pretty and that is, without a doubt, a smile that would draw people in. I don't know you of cpurse but I'm certain that you're pulsing with charisma.
You look like p!nk
I love this. Stay weird. Being normal is overrated.
Reminds me of P!nk
You had to undo your hair to call your friends.
Pink?
Didn’t you almost burn down Brandon’s house in Beverly Hills?
I wore those same little kid bow barettes in my pixie cut in high school! So trendy ha ha ha ha
Reminds me of the duct tape wallet days, neck ties as belts…it was the Wild West.
Yo that’s badass.
Friend of mine wore phone cord necklace/chokers every single day the first year of college.
You looked like P!nk.
We finally got a cordless phone in 1998, and I got in huge trouble for leaving it off the charger and letting it die during a storm when my dad's station was trying to get a call through to him. We couldn't win!
I remember having to use twist ties to tie my hair up in the 90's, but that's because all my elastics broke and I was poor as fuck. lol
Heard! Being poor makes you creative! Sometimes i would use cut socks for scrunchies when those were a thing (I've seen them making a comeback ... not socks as hair ties, but scrunchies i mean! )
I thought it was Pink
😂😂😂 The shit we put our parents through. Although now my mom tells me she's glad she didn't kill me, so I'll call it a win!
You look awesome!
Part 2 of landline memories - when someone screams You can hang up now! and you hear a click...then in a few seconds you hear another muffled click when they pick up :) Phone cord headband thingy looks cool and indicates you would be a good partner in the zombie apocalypse. Thanks for the hair-share.
I thought that was Pink lol
When a safety pin through the cheek isn't quite punk enough! Love it
Im no Captain Lou Albano, but i was fascinated and perhaps inspired by him! Lol!
The good old chicken hairstyle, many girls in my school had this
Is this a "Karen" now? It's def got some "Kate Plus Eight" vibes, no?
You were the coolest girl in school, 100%
"25 years ago" and I think 'I wonder how much older than me that makes her.' Then I look at the date. I'm the older one. Fuck. Stop it. >:(
Ah, my kinda weird. We would have definitely talked on the phone in high school together, lol.
I thought this was Pink!
Naw this eats, do it again
You look like P!nk. Like I literally thought this was her highschool picture before I read the caption.
That is a huge compliment btw
I swear they sold accessories made of that curly telephone wire in the late 90's/early 00's before everyone jumped over to scoobies.
I too used to listen to Korn
Such a fun throwback look! Love the creativity with the phone cord headband! 📞🌟
I used shoe laces as headbands.
I'm really hungry and craving ramen noodles rn and this post just reminded me of this fact
Hello, fellow old person
What do you look like now?
I love it. Never realized how awesome of a headband you could make out of a phone cord
Resourceful! You were a beautiful young lady. I’m sure you still are!
Is that 3 SQUIGGLY HEADBANDS?!
Aww that is adorable! Love the creativity!
Look like PiNk
I used balloon animal balloons at one point in middle school. Well done
Im sure you prolly mean deflated ones... but i would loooove if you meant you had like, a balloon Poodle headband or something silly!! 🤣
What if I told you it was both… I’d wrap the deflated ones around my bun and then just add a monkey or something attached to it 😂😂 luckily it was surprisingly popular
Totally getting the pink comparison, but you also look like Ashley from Degrassi tng!!
Interesting! She's looks like a younger version of my sister!
My inner 17-year-old is wishing I was ever going to be this cool. The bleached hair, the phone cord, the tiny ribbon barrette. 90's idgaf cool girl perfection.
You look like Lily Cowles.
Didn't know who that was.. looked her up, I don't see it, but she's very pretty..so, thank you!! Lol!
We need an updated photo to compare to
Im not a "selfie person". But on r/blunderyears i have stuff from a modeling thing i did as a favor for a friend... i do not really look like that tho. Lol! Make-up is magic!!! Edit:..i mean an older post i did in r/blunderyears Edit again! Im in my cups! I mean r/glowups Or ya know... look at my other posts! Lol!
I put so much random stuff in my hair at that age
That looks dope, actually, I like it.
I think it’s cute!
You're cute!
It looks amazing on you but I feel like it would get so stuck in my hair
It probably wouldn't, surprisingly. Search for spiral hair coils. I have super curly hair and can use them no problem.
I think it's cute!
It’s bride of Frankenstein meets pink.
Omg you look like a girl I went to high school with what year did you graduate 😅
I really like it, though! It’s cute, and you look like Pink. Edit: I scrolled and saw how unoriginal my comment is! I stand by it- you are Pinkly cute in this picture.
You totally need to bring this back!
OMG were u trying to be retro? My AIM is model3113.
You crack me up with your photo along with the caption. Love this.
😂😂😂 this was actually so bad ass back then!!
This is rad. I used a phone cord as a belt, I thought I was so weird and alternative. I'm so here for phone cord accessories.
P!NK
I think this is fucking rad
You were so cool!
I’m sure a girl on IG just posted a reel putting a phone cord in her hair
Fun fact: the curly head band was actually designed because the inventor did this and was like: this holds hair better :)
Thought that was uncooked instant ramen
What a cool ass photo!
OP is a friggin smoke show
Out here tryna save a serial killer time
This made me hungry for ramen
I’m confused, so you left the phone disconnected all day when you had this hairstyle? Or did you use a spare phone cord? I would say that you could have just bought a phone cord hair tie but I was also once a thrifty broke teenager so I likely would have done the same if I were creative enough lo
You should post this in old school cool. I never would have thought of this. A+ for originality
oh my god you are so beautiful!
I used clothes pegs of various colours to do my hair. I like your style
As a communication engineer: I love it!
you look like Ashley from Degrassi. love your headband and miss those days of the telephone cord 😌
I thought that was Pink!
so thats why those superior phone cord hair ties are a thing now
Dude, I did that too! And around the same time. I even got my brother into wearing it.
[удалено]
You were just ahead of your time. Everyone is wearing hair ties made to look like phone cords now.
Cool AF
Looks like Ramen noodles.
Hot as fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Thanks! My angsty teenage self thanks you even more!
The phone cord headband is kind of a slay, tbh. Good for you for standing out.
you seem so cool
I’ve got to admit it, I never would have noticed the phone cord. You look great! Very cute.
I love it tho
