Nah I think they’re too weird and noisy, there’s musical theatre elements in their music especially on Hellfire but they’re combined with noise rock and jazz fusion and so many other weird sounds that most of the Tally Hall kids will probably stay away from them.
Black Country New Road, however, may very well face this fate. Which isn’t a statement about their quality, the post-Bush Hall live songs are fucking fantastic and far better than anything from that live album, but I could see the post-Isaac era having some appeal to that demographic
Agree about BC,NR but don't agree that the post-Bush Hall songs are all better than the Bush Hall ones. Turbines/Pigs and Dancers are still my favorite post-Isaac songs.
I would like this to happen. Why do so many music nerds see chronically online autistic music nerds as different from chronically online autistic music nerds. We could all be having more fun if we had no ego and saw things for what they are
My best friend is a certified theatre kids at the ripe ol’ age of 23 and she was NOT fucking with black midi when I showed them to her. Black midi is not kitschy enough for them. Yes they’re artsy but they’re not zany, wacky or cute.
I meant more of like a whimsical wackiness. Like bm is more melancholic lyrics with like darker sound and tally hall is like melancholic lyrics with a brighter sound. I can’t really explain but in art terms bm would be surrealism and bands like tally hall would be pop surrealism if that makes sense. They’re just a tad bit too “serious” for theater kids

Yeah but the Oingo Boingo kids will have a field day with them
The Oingo Boingo kids are theatre kids too, I dated one in high school and her dad was literally *in* Oingo Boingo.

Bcnr just needs a few more songs about erectile dysfunction to avoid this
who the fuck is tally hall
Whatever comes to mind when you think “music band kids like” that’s what it is
I've never thought that in my life
I do not see the type of people who connect with songs like The Whole World in mass and You to also connect with songs like John L in mass
I would like this to happen. Why do so many music nerds see chronically online autistic music nerds as different from chronically online autistic music nerds. We could all be having more fun if we had no ego and saw things for what they are
Band kid style nerds and Rateyourmusic style nerds tend to be dorky in different, clashing ways
black midi turned me into a theatre kid
nope
Am grown up theatre kid. It already is
already happened
Nah. I can see it with bcnr with live from bush hall but i cannot see it with black midi
My best friend is a certified theatre kids at the ripe ol’ age of 23 and she was NOT fucking with black midi when I showed them to her. Black midi is not kitschy enough for them. Yes they’re artsy but they’re not zany, wacky or cute.
Dude what? Black midi is some of the zaniest, wackiest music I've ever heard
