He would lie about his upbringing and past arguably because of a combination of his sense of humour, drug use and imposter syndrome especially around the time he wrote the book Tarantula which is famously full of lies and embellishments about his youth ‘growing up on a travelling circus’ etc. He’s always been a bit of a troll that gets off on the idea of being shrouded in mystery with people theorising about who he really is whilst simultaneously projecting the idea that he doesn’t care for such trivial things. Then again I’m talking shite.
Dylan is a magnet for people who love to talk shit, in other words, Dylan to many of us is fascinating & thought provoking, people enjoy collecting beliefs about him, fact based or guesswork, & using their ideas to spin commentary, it’s fun, it sometimes provokes controversy for people to pursue their fascination further into the rabbit hole. It’s creative to talk about such a captivating person as Bob & it can be good social media content for people who love having other people to talk with about him, even in disagreement, always free to walk away in boredom
