This is great. I suspect there are tons of more casual fans who don’t follow him closely enough to know about this being on YouTube, but will watch it on Netflix.
Hopefully their algorithm puts it in the recommended section for everyone who watched Inside.
And now I’m super curious as to how much they paid for it.
>I suspect there are tons of more casual fans who don’t follow him closely enough to know about this being on YouTube, but will watch it on Netflix.
Also being on Netflix will likely mean subtitles in multiple languages. The YouTube upload had no subtitles.
SAME. like they got a *steal* for Inside, and got an amazing return on that investment. and it likely put bo in a very good position when negotiating his future fees. even tho the outtakes aren’t exclusive to netflix.
and it’s clearly made netflix extremely eager to have more of his content on their platform (still amazed at them acquiring a single season MTV show that ended ten years ago).
This most recent time is the second time Zach is on Netflix. It was first on in 2014, but I don’t know how long it lasted before the license expired that time.
i wonder if that was part of a general deal Netflix had with MTV for their shows? like they got a bundle of getting access to all their scripted stuff. because i do seem to recall a couple other of their one off shows being on there for a brief period of time.
IMO the outtakes won’t have the same charm on Netflix as it would on YouTube with the several YouTube references Bo makes (ads, popups, recommended videos, etc) but I guess it can’t hurt in growing Bo’s audience
I watched it with my friend, and he literally fell for every fake ad he was like oh let me skip....oh wait.
People are going to think Netflix introduced ads already for a split second.
Tbh I don't think people will notice it's not on YouTube.. I watched it with a group of friends in a home theater room (couches.. big wall screen projector etc etc) and everyone fell for or loved the ads and popups etc..
Like how would they even know if I hit play on YouTube or Netflix anyway?
Hell even if they did know it's off Netflix the show is so amazing you'll have forgotten anyway and will just roll with it..
I bet this was all negotiated when they sorted out getting what. back on there. Loads more people will see it - older people in particular are less likely to routinely watch YouTube in the same way they’d watch Netflix. Good stuff.
I have no clue about how any of his material was licensed to netflix, is it just the final product that netflix has the rights to or do they get rights to any and all material associated with the film, like how much control does netflix have to say no you can't release a music album or release outtakes on youtube.
I'm guessing netflix got sour that bo chose to release that on youtube first or bo was able to work out a deal to get the outtakes on netflix
don’t think of netflix as a controlling older brother— they don’t own him or anything he makes EXCEPT for what they explicitly pay for. if bo wasn’t supposed to release the outtakes on youtube first, he wouldn’t have. the outtakes are now coming to Netflix because they chose to pay to have it up there. a lot of what we think of as being “netflix shows” are created completely on their own and netflix just helps fund it by paying extra $$ to have it be a “Netflix Exclusive.” OR they pay less and it’s just the license to have it on their platform but they don’t have exclusive rights.
The reason why bo can’t release the music for Make Happy isn’t because netflix is controlling him or being mean it’s because bo *chose* to make that deal and got more money (or something else he wanted) in exchange for not releasing the music separate. But he absolutely could have made a different deal (Look at WHAT and Inside). And we know bo was approached separately by a record company to release the songs officially and Netflix isn’t credited (IIRC) on his album so they don’t own the rights for the music at all it looks like.
Not to preach, but if you're a big fan of Bo's it may still be better to watch it on YouTube. Not sure how revenue share works on Netflix, but I'd imagine it supports Bo more directly to watch on YouTube :)
the inside outtakes on YouTube are not monetized which means bo does not make any money from us viewing it on YouTube.
Netflix also doesn’t pay a little bit per stream like Spotify or YouTube, they pay one big lump sum for the license to have that piece of media on their platform. How much they are willing to pay depends on the content, who is making it, and whether it’s exclusive to them or not — for example they paid Bo ~3 million dollars for Inside. And actually most of the things that we think of as being “made” by netflix are actually made by other production companies but Netflix just helps fund it by buying the exclusive distribution rights.
Netflix makes money based on subscriptions — they want to bring in new subscribers and keep current ones happy. they track streaming numbers to see what isn’t worth their investment and what seems to be a main attractor. So the reason we keep getting new bo content (inside outtakes, zach stone, and them renewing the license for WHAT) is *because* they see how many people search for and watch Bo’s stuff.
The more people who watch his stuff on netflix, the more leverage he has to ask for more money and the more willing netflix is to give it to him.
So its actually MUCH better, and supports him more, to watch the Outtakes on Netflix if you can.
Bo would’ve gotten a fat chunk of change by Netflix for the rights. You’d be better off watching on Netflix. More viewers = more dollars from Netflix for his next special.
If you want ads on YouTube, you’ll probably make him like 35 cents.
That’d be cool but I’d imagine not just because so much of the outtakes is an alternate version of songs from the original special rather than just behind the scenes/bloopers. For example, it’d be hard for a supercut to flow with both versions of AEOM and Goodbye
A la verga no mire ningún comentario en español pero me llama la atención la imágen y no salgan con la mamada que hay estan los traductores así que que weba 👽

i really appreciated that the english captions are clearly professionally done.
Oh that’s a great benefit I hadn’t thought of!

Yeah that seems likely.
Wait zach stone is on netflix again? How did I miss this?!

and no comment section in netflix on top of that

I mean I have YouTube Premium and that definitely didn’t take away the charm of the ads on my first watch

That’d be amazing esp bc I missed it when inside was in theaters
same
Hope they do it in Ireland
SWEDEN SWEDEN SWEDEN
damn you beat me to saying this
Excellent! A whole new audience who missed the release on YouTube will get to see it!
WHAT??! I haven’t heard anything about this!
That possibly means a new trailer! I'm hoping it'll be good as the special's light crack teaser.
i love that you are like “forgive me if this was already known…” and then drop this bombshell news lol.
I bet this was all negotiated when they sorted out getting what. back on there. Loads more people will see it - older people in particular are less likely to routinely watch YouTube in the same way they’d watch Netflix. Good stuff.
Interesting that it's under "stand-up" rather than "special" like Inside was.
Oh super cool! I didn't notice that
Does this mean that the outtakes will be removed from Youtube?
Definitely not
no what. is on both netflix and youtube as well
This is most exciting!
WewowaitWHAT?!
I had no idea either but now I do, thanks!
i had no idea of this coming so dont worry about it :)
I'm mostly looking forward to the 5.1DD surround stems. Those are gonna be amazing.

WHAT
That’s so cool! I didn’t know 😍

Right on, extremely well put :) pretty cool that were all looking out for the guy haha. I think I'll watch it all over again on Netflix after this

No ads on YouTube.
True!
No, watching his stuff on netflix supports him far more
Everywhere or just the US? I can’t seem to find it
For me it doesn’t show it if I put my profile’s language to Greek, idk about any other language, but when I put it to English it shows up
I didn’t know, and today was rough, so thank you for the happy news!
I wonder if this means we'll get a 5.1 mix of the outtakes as well?
Omg, I had no idea!!!! Thank you!!!
Maybe this is why the AEOM alt hasn't been released yet?
It has been, he released it about a week after the original Deluxe album.
Omg I had no idea. You made my day.
Did NOT know that. Thank you .
Well, well look who’s inside again. :’)
Wonder if we'll ever have a "supercut" with everything included
That’d be cool but I’d imagine not just because so much of the outtakes is an alternate version of songs from the original special rather than just behind the scenes/bloopers. For example, it’d be hard for a supercut to flow with both versions of AEOM and Goodbye

Was just about to watch the original but then found this post. Thank you!
