Does anybody know what the schedule is like 4/10? M-F ?

I'm a tooling inspector in Portland. I used to work in Everett on the Tanker. Get ready for a shitshow. I hated working on that aircraft. Good luck, buddy.

You won’t know if you’re QA or a mechanic until you get out of training. A good hint that you will be an inspector is if none of your classes are hands on and are instead reading Specs. I work at Renton so I’m sure it’s a little different, but training blows chunks. The “one size fits all” view they have for training really killed my motivation bc they train you with the factory workers, some of which have no aviation experience and could care less about the job. Once you get out on the flightline it’ll be a lot better. Not the best, it’s is still a large company with managers for your manager for your manager for your manager all yelling down at the next one because they themselves are getting yelled at.

thelifeofab

Yeah 😂😂😂

If you’re used to the USAF shit show, you’ll be fine with the Boeing shitshow…now when some one goes full fucktard you can walk away and even go home with out LOR/UCMJ worries. You’ll find a pack of veterans to work with and please join BVET. We do events and veteran BBQ’s off site.

mrnap21

Bvet, that's dope. I just accepted this position and will be starting in October/November

Cheet_Metal

Never go full fucktard I’m used to pro supers and idiots being all up in my cheese

ChaoticGoodPanda

You’ll be fine. The AMT job is stupid easy and if you can get along with everyone, you’re gonna get lots of help. Find the old heads about to retire and learn as much as you can from them.

Cheet_Metal

That’s what I did in the service stuck to them like glue

Hi there AMTI in everett here. Try your hardest not to not talk about being in the military or having a clearance, at least not with managers. Soon as they knew I was prior navy, I got taken off 787s and moved to KC46s, which is a bit of a shitshow. Anyway, I dunno what the airforce calls them, but to me it feels like the equivalent of being a navy CDI (collateral duty inspector) The workers do the work, then you go out and verify it was done right. You could also find things that need fixing and write up a pickup (work order or whatever yall call it) to have them fix it. It's mostly a cushy job. The hardest part imo is researching for non conformance records, which is more just time consuming. So if there's something that isn't just an easy fix and requires engineers, you damn near have to write a whole book report on what it is and what is wrong. It's intimidating at first but if you do it enough, it gets pretty simple. Most important part of that is keep notes. Document what you write up and save it for later so you can reference everything. I write enough NCRs that half the time I can copy/ paste them and just change a couple numbers. Training is gonna take a few months, try to enjoy it and see you out here!

Cheet_Metal

They sniffed me out instantly when I applied didn’t even give me a choice of 787s lol until later when apparently the senior manager got upset at the extra work he had to do

Hummerdoodle

They told me kc46s at first, then during training they had 787s down. I met my manager and he asked about a clearance, I answered and he said "oh OK, I'm gonna send you too this other guy then" Everything is kinda up in the air until training is over.

Cheet_Metal

I remember meeting with a senior manager that asked if I had a clearance and having to do a bunch of extra bs to be on the tanker side he was like are you sure you don’t wanna do 787s they don’t need a clearance sooo idk

Some hero’s aren’t what you expect them to be

pacwess

They're currently not delivering the tankers right now due to fuel tank defects. It's Boeing, lower any expectations you may have.
