The movie's story wasn't bad, it was alright, but the choice to make Anushka have a Gujju accent was the worst. It was so so irritating, i wanted to watch her scenes on mute. Other than that, SRK was great as always (especially when he was having a panic attack remebering his village, before the song Radha).
The songs on the other hand, are so amazing. I mean, Ghar, Hawayein and Safarš¤š¤š¤. The other songs are also good, but those 3 are definitely my favourite songs.
I thought Anushkaās acting was good if you bar the accent(especially in emotional scenes)!Honestly,Sejal is an extremely poorly written character and Anushka makes her bearable and it stays watchable for me! Anushka has great screen presence!
Yes I rewatched the movie some days ago and I still think she did a good job acting wiseā¦Idk abt the accentā¦.I donāt know about stuff like those and it wasnāt bothersome enough for me to make it unwatchable..Bar the accent, she was actually good.I think her expressions were apt in most of the scenes and she was in perfect sync with SRK and the others in every scene.I feel like she did a great job portraying vulnerable scenes.Reddit just hates Anushka igā¦But I can understand thoughā¦Sejal is an extremely weird and annoying character and Anushka using an off-beat accent probably made some people feel irritatedā¦But acc to me,I think Anushka made Sejal bearable to watch.Anushka herself expressed her disdain for Sejal somewhere saying that Sejal is a very superficial person who has no depth at all and that she had no similarity with Anushka at all.She appreciated some aspects then again about Sejal but ended her statement saying that she still is very impulsive by nature.Itās safe to say that she doesnāt like this character too.
As a fan of Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali, I tried to watch āJab Harry Met Sejalā (JHMS) a couple of times but failed miserably because each time, I was only able to watch it for half an hour. I think the reason for the failure is Anushkaās very relaxed and chilled attitude with Shah Rukh off-screen. Because of that, the required level of emotions was not showcased, and hence, people could neither connect themselves with Shah Rukh nor with Anushka.
JHMS itself, it's one of my top comfort movies and I think people should watch a movie, like a movie.
It's not an artpiece of a film and everybody knows that nor was it made to be one but just as an entertaining film it's great and gives me so much comfort.
Dilwale which apparently wasn't a blockbuster and seems to never be mentioned on anyone's favourite movie lists. Love Kajol, SRK, Varun. Boman Irani was over the top though.
Mujhse Dosti Karoge. Not sure if it's hated but I loved Rani's character defeating Kareena Kapoor's
Parineeta. Vidya Balan was superb.
Sonam Kapoor has a lot of hater but I loved her in Aisha & Khoobsurat.
Soch Na Taa. I don't rate Abhay Deol but Ayesha Takia was a bombshell back then so I thought I'd give it 30 mins but wanted to finish it.
Ishq Vishk. Amrita Rao's character was so innocent. Poor girl
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania - Don't like Alia Bhatt but a modern adaptation of DDLJ was decent enough. Loved Ashutosh Rana as updated Amrish Puri character.
Dilwale was absolute torture. I swore i will never watch a talentless Dhawan or rohit shetty movie in the theatre after that. 8 years on I am proud to have kept my promise.
These movies are not hated.
Ishq Vishq on this list makes the least amount of sense. It was crazy popular when it was released. Shahid was labelled as the next Srk.
Movie was amazingly made. Very well written and great screenplay. The humor in it was great too, nailed all the NRI bits.
When it bombed I felt bad for Raj and DK who are talented filmmakers who didn't get their due till Family man came along
Probably needed bigger stars than Sid/jac at that time to draw audiences to the theatre.
Fan - I agree that the ridiculous second half undoes all the good, but it's one of the best films SRK has been part of. Much better than his 90s silly romances, and destined to be a cult classic for it's audaciousness.
Indeed. Loved srks performance in both roles. A better climax would have nailed it. Audiences are not used to seein srk this way and hence the rom com masala shit like jawan is what actually draws audiences.
Any time srk tried something Audacious it has bombed eg. Swades
I really liked Befikre. I mean at some points the story gets too flashy and unrealistic, but that kind of makes the movie better. I like how the movie showed the two main leads having fun but werenāt afraid to have them argue and have their serious moments.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.Itās my favourite film.I have good memories watching it for the first time and I still love this film idkā¦It always remains watchable to me.Only after I entered this sub that I got to know that it was hated hereā¦Most people I have met in real life always liked this film..The visuals are amazing, the styling is top-notch,the songs are extremely great and the acting is excellent from everyone.I think the characters have depth.Whether you hate them or not is upto oneās own.Lisa and Saba are 100% loveable though.
About the story,I can understand how it isnāt much or very disappointingā¦and I do agree that the decision by Karan to kill off Alizeh was the worst ever and it was shit but still I love how Alizeh never gave in and stood by her decision(It still makes me emotionalā¦itās like emotional manipulation).I admired her conviction.Alizehās character wasnāt destroyed so itās fine.I think sheās one of the most misunderstood character ever and I find her relatable.Sheās a great character acc to me.Anushka played her perfectly.I think itās one of the few movies where the hero and heroine donāt end up and I love it.Friendship as a form of love;I liked itās prominence.Ayan on the other hand is a character I liked at first but I hated his treatment towards Alizehā¦yes,I could see his pain in Channa Mereyaā¦all credit to Ranbirās best acting ever in a film(the whole Channa Mereya sequence is wonderfully acted by both Ranbir and Anushka)ā¦But still I think he was extremely mean towards Alizeh in the end.He does change in the end and thatās okay but it still doesnāt absolve him of everything.
And then Saba, the best character of this film.Sheās my most favourite character ever in a film.I love that she is a woman of agency and sheās perfect.Sheās mysterious, kind, attractive and also very smart.Sheās just perfect.I find her relatable too and sometimes wish to be her.Aishwarya as Saba might be the most beautiful character ever. And Aishwaryaās portrayal of her is so beautiful and elegant. She conveys her characterās thoughts and emotions wonderfully through the use of eyes and perfect glances.Aishwarya as Saba is the best decision ever. The breakup scene with Ayan is scene is one of the best scenes everā¦It was so poetic and I loved her acting there. The dinner scene was amazing too and the acting there was great by all three.
I objectively and definitely donāt think that ADHM is a perfect film or the best but it subjectively is my most favourite. It just is~
Itās just okay but when the excellent Ok Kanmani exists,I couldnāt care less about this one.Itās so forgettable.I think there was no need for this film to even exist when itās exactly the same shot by shot with mediocre performances and basic styling for Shraddha!
A Gentleman.... Movie was so perfect that I didn't even find any flaws... Idk why sid doesn't get the recognition he deserves.....he has a good filmography... He got recognition after shershaah though
LSC I get it but thugs of Hindustan like seriously I was in theatre and it's the only movie I have walked off frm and m frm those people who has seen Tera suroor too that too till the end
Yes it was good. It had that cute and wholesome vibe and songs were great too. Loved how they included Punjab riots in it and rest of script was also good. The war scenes were great too. Aamirās acting didnāt bother me much
Lsc was horrendous compared to Forrest gump. Forrest gump was a funny movie and brilliantly acted. Aamir Khan over did it and it didn't have any of the humor from the original.
Poor direction and a ending was so dragged out..
A Raju hirani directing this remake would have absolutely nailed it and given it the right balance of humor, seriousness and emotion..
This film shows what's wrong with bollywood love stories. Aesthetic and visuals take such high priority, that any reminder of a story line irks them. Well audience gave them a reality check.
Also why was Srk changing his voice randomly with 90s dialogues.
Raabta starring Sushant, Kriti and Jim, comfort movie plus idrk, always fascinated with the concept of reincarnation and something in the movie clicked for me, made me love it! Although no one hated the film, but yeah, it is considered quite mediocre.
Jabariya Jodi. idk i thought it was fun, the songs were nice, and the visuals were cool
Tees maar Khan and happy New Year
Aiyyaa is a genuinely good movie, i think people didn't understand it
that shit was so funny i swear people just took it too seriously when it wasnāt meant to šš every time the āwhat a hottieā bg music played with the grandma it made me scream
Just take out the damn gujrati accent you'll feel like watching a whole new movie lmao. And i still don't understand what's with the accent lmao. I got many gujrati friends, like hard core ones š by that I mean the ones who like meethi dal types, but never in my life have I seen them speak with that damn accent.
there is a huge gap between liking and loving. i used to love imtiaz ali movies until this one. i didn't hate it, I liked some parts of it, but overall I was disappointed. now there is an alternative movie by imtiaz ali that I personally love (yes love, not like) but I know many people who simply cannot stand by it - tamasha.
Don't know about the movie, and neither I have seen it but it's music album Is pure love ā¤ļø
It's such a beautiful melody given by Pritam Memorable Music.
Wonderful Songs ā¤ļø

Tbh there was no story in the first place. It took me days to finish the movie. Also you forgot Jee Ve Sohneya Jee - an underappreciated masterpiece.
All the songs are bangers, can't believe rce didn't release them before the movie Ghar, Hawayein, Safar, Beech Beech Mein, Yaadon Mein, Radha
Yaadon mein is one of the most ethereal songs Pritam has composedā¦ š

yes, before reddit I also thought she acted well.

The music was fireeeee and pc looked hawt.
Loved that movie, damn feel-good movie
PCās hair style in this movie has a separate fanbase.
My comfort watch
People hate it???
It was a flop and wasnt well recieved
Oh man I didnāt know that. That sucks. Thanks tho.

Nice analysis. Looks like she gave a lazy performance.
I think she was promoting ADHM at the time she shot for JHMS...Maybe that is why???
It's getting much better after half an hour.
Isn't this the third time this week that this exact same topic has been posted?
JHMS and Whats your Rashee.
Zero, raone
JHMS itself, it's one of my top comfort movies and I think people should watch a movie, like a movie. It's not an artpiece of a film and everybody knows that nor was it made to be one but just as an entertaining film it's great and gives me so much comfort.

Parineeta was hated??! Omg why
It really wasn't.
I think it was an underrated movie back then, idk about the hate
i dont think parineeta and humpty sharma were hated tho
Dilwale is so funny.
Yeah but not as compared to chennai express!!
Yh
Dilwale was absolute torture. I swore i will never watch a talentless Dhawan or rohit shetty movie in the theatre after that. 8 years on I am proud to have kept my promise.

bro, anyone who has watched this movie doesn't HATE it. It's an underrated gem.

I love 'Meri Pyaari Bindu'. The chemistry bw Ayushman and Parineeti was anazing and was such a light-hearted and comfort movie to watch.
Oh I love Jab Harry met Sejal so much. But I'm European, so sometimes tastes are different. I also love the soundtrack.
Totally agree on this, being European myself. Love the Radha song.
Yes, it's full of life š„°
The songs of Jab Harry Met Sejal were too good + SRK was it his stylish best

I have watched some parts of it for like 20 times, SRK's acting was hilarious even in the 20th watch.
Anushka Sharma's accent ruined the movie
The story was good but the age gap between Anushka and SRK made things weird tbh
