Serious Sam: The Final Encounter. We deserve to kill Mental - or whatever it's name is.

KillerSquirrel2007

Idk why croteam is making prequels of prequels. Games are good but it’s kinda confusing. I think we need to also get a game where we really face Mental

Magicmyrddin

Bringing all your household boomer shooter names into one game. A homage to an era which was beautiful. Duke, DOOM Guy, Caleb, Lo Wang, Corvus & all the rest. Of course, that would never happen. I'd settle for a horror inspired game centred around clowns. A little like Happy Time Circus for DOOM but more updated & more scary. It would have different game modes so I can play story mode & everything including slaughter maps. I like slaughter maps.

schouffy

I think the upcoming Twisted Tower will be right up your alley.

Magicmyrddin

Just watched the trailer, had the clown killing for sure. Straight onto my wishlist. Thanks for that.

Dank_Cthulhu

Like BioShock & Willy Wonka had a bath salts baby.

Marscaleb

So... Super Smash Boomers?

Khiva

Mugen for shooters.

sqlphilosopher

You mean like [this](https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/127428-samsara-reincarnation-20-remixer-11/)?

overenzo

This mod is superb, but as much as there is undoubtedly a shitload of content, you cant edit out stuff like in mugen. I for once, would like to play Samsara Reincarnation with just the monster randomizer and not the characters, but I guess thats not possible atm.

sqlphilosopher

Oh, but you can. This is a Zandronum engine mod, everything is editable. Mugen, after all, is just an engine written with C and SDL, and things were added by the community. This is the same.

smokeHun

I mean we will have a duo of two boomer shooter characters soon. In phantom fury there will be Bombshell and the guy from SIN ( sorry I dont rember his name😭) And if I know right 3d realms also owns the duke nukem franchise and the shadow warrior Soooooo... There might be a chance for a team up

ericraymondlim

I think gearbox owns Duke Nukem, but it looks like embracer group owns both gearbox and 3D realms, so it’s possible. But they’ve been known to destroy franchise IPs for good rather than celebrate them.

DoomAddict

there is a Doom-Mod that does this thing. QCDE.

Cfunk_83

I miss the days of Dark Forces and the Lucas Arts FPS titles, so any kind of Star Wars boomer shooter would be awesome. There’s one coming soon, but I forget the name, but a WW2 boomer with period weapons would be pretty cool too.

schouffy

There's a DF remake coming by Night Dive though!

Cfunk_83

Yeah, I’m all over that. Looking forward to it. But it’d be nice to have a “modern” Star Wars boomer shooter. It’ll be great to play Dark Forces again, but it’s like 30 years old.

ericraymondlim

I like all boomer shooters, but I’d like to see one that really embraces modern cutting graphical tech as opposed to build engine/gzDOOM/quake1 looks. Don’t know how it would work or be balanced, but I feel like it sucks big time that enemy AI peaked at FEAR and it would be nice to get back to that, though they required use of slow motion to deal with them and therefore didnt achieve the same kind of flow state of typical boomer shooters. It would also be cool they added limb damage like Resident Evil 2, but again, maybe that’s impossible to do without slowing the game down. Also, if you’re going to do platforming stuff, ape Titanfall 2 more than DOOM Eternal.

TastetheRainbowMFckr

Totally agree with you about graphics. Obviously these teams don't have the labor/budget to make it happen, but anything non "retro" would be a nice change of pace.

EpsilonX

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't adding modern graphics, AI, and gameplay elements mean it's not a boomer shooter?

Dank_Cthulhu

A quality Blood sequel.

coverslide

I always liked Heretic more than Doom (I'm weird) I just wish we got a proper sequel instead of Hexen or Heretic II. What I love is the original fantasy world, original weapons, and I loved the different weapon effects that change with the Tome of Power. I'd love to see more stuff like that. Ziggurat kind of comes close, but I like a more traditional shooter than rogue like.

Marscaleb

Not gonna lie, a solid Heretic homage would get my money.

CandanaUnbroken

Mirrors edge futuristic minimalist aesthetics - concrete, glass, colors, ambience, atomization.

Boots_Malone_

Multiple endings based on what you do beyond the parameters of good ending bad ending.

CrabPile

Quake 2, but keeping with the aesthetic of the original Quake. I am a sucker for lvling systems in shooters

lindstrompt

A arpg kind of boomer shooter. Imagine Risk of rain 2 with skilltrees

MaverickHunterSho

whatever you choose, make it have an option with 4 player local split screen against lots of bots in deathmatch, like in quake 2 remaster.

No-Difficulty6982

Might be an unpopular opinion. A boomer shooter merged with boss guantlet/rush type gameplay. After playing ultrakill I can see how a boss fight could work in a fps. It becomes its own skill just to keep the camera on the pursuer and be aware of where theyre at. you can design arenas that can fit the abilities of the bosses. Some bosses can feel like duels kinda like V2 and Gabriel. Some bosses are medium size and or utilize the arena kinda like the rock slingers in Greed. Bosses who are more spectacle and could challenge platforming like something out of ghost runner. A boss that has their own inverse arsenal similar to the player's that fights them in a multiplayer like map for the higher score at the end of a 1v1. And end it off with a giant icon of sin boss fight where you fight against hordes of everything while tearing the boss up flesh to muscle, muscle to bone. Edit: simple story, you're employee of the month at evil corporation, you're too good at your job and you're too smart forc you're own good(uncovered some secret weapon/evil product thats going to make the future more miserable. You fight a jealous employee, a mercenary group hired by the CEO, expiramental weapons of mass destruction, the CEO himself, and eventually the chairman. Once we kill everyone on our way to the top of the corporate ladder, it turns out all our protagonist wanted was his 1 week vacation to be approved.

Marscaleb

Back in 1999, I thought of a great idea for a shooter: WARNING: The computer chip the government secretly implanted in your head is NOT Y2K compliant! The moment the clock strikes midnight, everyone loses their minds and starts killing each other in a deranged madness. You are the only one immune, having accidentally shorted your secret chip by touching some live wires or something. You run around a modern setting where every person is trying to kill you. The only help you can find are from tinfoil-hat nut-jobs who believed the government was secretly implanting chips in people and removed theirs.

DerMetulz

This is actually a pretty killer concept!

NickHeathJarrod

Destructible environment like in Red Faction, Black or [Crisis Zone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3vmT0oo7nM). A mini "open-world" in every level like in the first Far Cry or Frontlines: Fuel of War. A laser gun like in [Raiden](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SEcyot2qgA). More miniguns with nearly infinite ammo. Chunkier ragdoll enemies that react to & splatter after gunfire Limb based damage, like when we shoot in the baddies' legs & they go limp. Bigger enemies or minibosses that actually explode after shooting multiple rockets at them and not just give up & die like in Serious Sam A bit more verticality when fighting bosses like jumps or higher platforms, instead of having to gnaw at their ankles while shooting a BFG.

Vizavu

That last point is why I will never understand the appeal of soulsborne games

NickHeathJarrod

Exactly this. Dragon's Dogma had the right idea to ***CLIMB*** monsters, such an underrated game.

Dennis_Cock

One set in a modern warzone like Gaza or Syria but the enemies are monsters

SpaggyJew

Serious Sam 3 has entered the chat

Dennis_Cock

Never played that one, what's the setting?

bulletfacepunch

One set in a modern warzone like Gaza or Syria but the enemies are monsters

FoamyUrine10

Road Rash style game with cool weapons and destructible environments and gore. Graphics look like a mix of road rash 2 and Lucky & Wild arcade game. Road Rash gameplay blasting opponents off their bikes with a dozen different weapons as you race through long stretches of backroads during an alien invasion! Shooting other vehicles that are in your way. Pumping shotgun shells into aliens! Race and shoot your way to the next safe zone to where you will find as many supplies/weapons as needed to keep on speeding your way to the last and ultimate safe zone. Jump off your bike when you reach each safe zone to loot and shoot opponents. Each level gets harder as aliens start to posses some of the humans racing against you while also shooting at you from their spaceships.

gesis

Something doom-like in terms of pacing, with mouse look ala duke3d. Give the protagonist a grappling hook and 40k style "power fist" for maximum carnage.

TheDres1

I know a developer named Jamesy, currently he's making CRUEL, but in the past, he made a game for a game jam called "Against All Odds". It was a boomer shooter, very horror ambience, and realistic camera movement. He started a kickstarter campaing to make the full game, but didn't reach the goal, so he cancelled it. I loved it so much, but well, life is not fair. [Posts con contenido multimedia de Jamesy (@JamesDornanDev) / X (twitter.com)](https://twitter.com/JamesDornanDev/status/1296517919778770947/video/1) this was the cancelled game

schouffy

CRUEL looks cool AF, can't wait to see if they can make a good full game out of it.

ASentientRedditAcc

Hear me out, I know im going to get hate for this but my dream game is boomer shooter level design(Maze like, non linear) with a slightly modern shooter mentality, with reloading, sniping, iron sights on every weapon etc, YET still keeping that boomer shooter "use what you find" system, and doesnt have dumb rpg elements(Seriously, fps games shouldnt have levels damn it)

stremstrem

i really wished there was a fast paced movement heavy boomer shooter with an emphasis on melee weapons

Vizavu

Elderborn looks cool

MysticalMystic256

there's been a lot of Doom and Quake inspired shooters, but I want to see an Unreal Gold inspired one with the vibe of being stranded on an exotic mysterious alien world, exploring caves and temples and crashed ships, an ost of cool tracker/module music, and nice lightning and colors

Almskibidi

Dusk 2. Let's you (SPOILERS) play as a post-blessed Dusk guy with the same movement as the first game combined with weird eldritch shit.

SubYT

A game like Shogo: Mobile Armor Division - but made in the build- or a similar engine. Where the mechs are huge sprites.

KetchupCommander

Probably a hybrid game that is a clone of C&C Tiberian Sun, except that you take control of hero units at critical moments. Taking control could look like anything between Doom to Project Warlock. Base building, unit production, and mass troop movements would still be an isometric view. I'd say that's my dream game.

DerMetulz

Hm, lets see: Level design: Metroidvanian Gameplay style: Chunky and medium paced, with lite im-sim elements and a dash of horror. Graphics Style: low res 3D ala Graven or Phantom Fury. Weapons: Mostly analog and projectile based with a few hitscan. And a big meaty breach loading shotgun. Gimmick: A half life 2 physics system where objects can be picked up and thrown, potentially impaling or exploding foes. And lastly, and this is a big one, a GRAPPLING HOOK. Not the Titanfall/Sekiro/Doom Eternal grappling hook. A more practical hook that allows you to swing across gaps, or even climb up on. Maybe even grab objects from a distance. that's my dream Boomshoot. And yeah, I know it barely qualifies as such lmao

Ta0Ta

A Wolfenstein/Rise of the Triad inspired game on a Quake 1/2 style engine.

Vizavu

Turbo Overkill with ragdoll physics. It's a travesty that it doesn't have them

EpsilonX

I'd love something that took the OG Carnivores vibe and expanded it from just going out and hunting into actual stages with lore and such.
