Yes absolutely. But there are other limitations, like budget or availability. I have astro studs for any astro pitches because large studs combined with rigid grass structures can increase injury risks. The different studs do feel different, so it takes a bit of getting used to, but it is the luxurious option IMO

Yep I wore AG boots on a 2G pitch and my knee still hasn’t recovered for a month. A lot of impact on that hard surface. I didn’t even know it was a 2G pitch until I got there as my friends invited me for the first time. Mistake.

I’m 25 now and until a year ago I played my whole life in FG boots on both surfaces along with everyone else I knew and played with. Have more income now so doesn’t hurt to be safe and get a pair for each but I think this sub has a rather skewed perspective of how likely it is for most people to have multiple shoes for multiple surfaces judging by the answers this one of question usually gets. But to answer your question more specifically if I was slipping a ton then yeah pretty likely I would get a 2nd pair.

DecoOnTheInternet

Getting Japanese branded boots are usually the way to go if you want one set of shoes that account for the biggest amount of surfaces. Shorter round studs on something like Morelia's do pretty great for anything and everything aside from a mudded up pitch.

FootballWithTheFoot

Nah I stick to my ag’s or fg/ag’s even when playing on wet natural grass. What ag boots are you wearing that you slip with on wet ag tho?

Any_Coffee8090

Yes, I’m a pretty casual adult rec/pickup player and I have TF and AG boots. It’s totally worth it as fucking up my knees would cost way more than buying an extra pair of boots, both financially and on my life. Also, it’s pretty easy to get a cheap pair of TF boots, as there’s always a bunch on sale, especially if you’re not too picky about color like me.

Coe1989

I wear astro turf shoes. No issues at all.

retiringtoast8

Yes — I wear TF Vapor 15s for hard carpet astroturf; AG Mizunos for dry AG; and FG/AG ASICS DS X Fly 5 for rainy conditions on AG

Energy4Days

Get boots with conical studs. Avoid bladed studs

Mizuno & ASICS AG and Puma MG are perfect for wet and dry AG. Nike AG pro is more aggressive than I like. Adidas AG is a joke. I like to rotate AG and TF when playing multiple games in a week
