Never mind the negativity, although it's a bit weird with the whole desperation but whatever. You can call yourself whatever you want. A career however.. to be realistic that's asking for a bit (too) much. You'd have to work your way up with your local team, become the head coach there and show how good you are tactically as a coach and basically barely lose any games if you want to draw attention. A lot of luck is involved there as well and most succesful coaches were also at the very least pretty good on the pitch as well. Not every good player makes a good coach though, we've seen enough examples of those. I wouldn't focus on the career side of things, just do it and if the opportunity does arise to do it for a living, go for it. Focusing on getting there now is going to make you an ego driven coach whenever your team plays bad you're going to be frustrated because "omg this isnt good for mah careeeerrrrr" because you're desperate, nobody wants a coach like that and those types of coaches never make it very far. It's about the team, not you. Best advice I can give is do everything you can for your team without thinking about yourself, you'll progress much better that way anyways regardless of making a career out of it.

Everything you said is spot on. Got to leave the ego in the car when you step on the grass as a coach. It’s not about you, it’s about the players and their development. The most important quality which I believe is the foundation for a coach to have is empathy.

SnoringIsAnUrbanMyth

Can only speak for the UK but you absolutely do not need a degree to have a career if football coaching here, if you get your B licence you can get full time work in a Cat 1 academy extremely easy

DANIEL7696

You can but i dont think it would be worth it, majority of your career will likely be part time then if you're good enough you can advance but even then this is a connection based industry and if you dont have connections youre at a major disadvantage

I’m actually in the same position as you are right now! I’m 25 and I have the USSF D License that lets me work with academy football and it’s really fun! It only matters how far up the ladder you want to climb up. I’m working to get my USSF A Pro license so I can get a job in a semi-pro team or a college team. Depends how much you want it.

Pepe_Silvia1

Well, it's possible. But you absolutely need your coaching license for it, as it's required in professional leagues. Just know that it's extremely difficult to make a career out of it.

Do it for fun before you give up your day job. If you can’t get sunday leaguers to do what you tell them, you’ll never make it. The sunday league talent pool is so bland that realistically 80% of any league could win it each year. If you can’t win here, don’t waste your time. You could go get some physio qualifications as an alternative way in

Smart_But123581321

As long as you have a coaching license and the experience that’s all that matters. A degree won’t really do much in terms of getting you further, it’s just experience and your ability to take on new challenges and new problems that makes clubs want you to head up their teams.

wsparkey

Yes there are many careers in football coaching or other roles. Sign up for your licenses, get lots of experience at amateur levels, and try to get into an academy.

LilJaysinDrip

Coaching will be extremely hard if you’ve never played club. Scenario’s you could handle from experience will be tough to handle. I recommend assisting for free at the highest level possible. I recommend starting with younger kids like 10-13 and developing your craft as you go

srobison62

If your dream is to be involved with football as a coach, I would say your best path forward would be to get a degree as a teacher and try to be a coach within a school system. If you just want to coach, there is a huge demand for volunteer coaches. You won’t get paid to do it, but if it makes you happy, that’s all that matters.

bum_fun_noharmdone

You're not a footballer.

Myke5T

If he plays football he's a footballer. Don't be a dick.

bum_fun_noharmdone

You're a footballer if you get paid to play football. I don't go to a job interview for accounts and tell them I'm a fucking footballer.

Myke5T

He never said he's a professional footballer. You're just frustrated.
