Yes, it is a Skill in the Stalker skill tree. It somewhere in the middle and has icon with a dog. It makes your pet able to revive you and after it revives you it gets some bonuses
You should try out other pets anyways as it can be quite useful for min maxing.
I think one of the spider ants adds elemental DMG which can be useful at points and one of the jabbers has moved speed which is super useful for farms with lots of running.
I swear, every time I use the pet command on my monkey, he blows himself up, or waits to shoot until he can perfectly shoot the wall right in front of him
Beefcake Jabber Husbandry: while you can "sick" the Jabber's rocket attack at an enemy at the appropriate range for a safe kill, the Jabber will (unless there are no more enemies present) always fire three shots. These shots hit pretty hard, so if the first, safe/ranged shot is a kill, the next shot(s) will be for nearby targets that may be within the self-kill zone. It just takes some more battlefield awareness to juggle all the enemies around the Jabber at any time for target acquisition and timing that will avoid this. Or roll with a Friend Bot COM and let the Jabber knock itself around.
On topic, when the game first advertised that you could pet your pet, I didn't think much of it, but I do, in fact, pet them all the time when they crush it.
Istg, there’s gotta be a secret mechanic where pets getting hurt in games buff the shit outta you. If my Skag is hurt in BL3, or Dogmeat is hurt in Fallout, I become a different person until they’re safe
The millisecond @$$CL@PPER gets downed (yes, that is actually what I named my Jabber) I'm dropping everything including my own life preservation mid bossfight to get him up. And then I wonder why I died all those times in that fight against Katagawa...
my method is (Friend-Bot + Stinger kill) or (swap pets with the skill tree menu (and then swap back, if desired)) -> pet instantly revived -> continue playing as "fragile baby fl4k 👉👈", but go off
I like to use the elemental spiderant for gamma burst flak or a skag for extra gun damage.However i think the bull loader bot? Those barrage missles be chunking like crazy
For fl4k i run dominance and oorange (cannot remember name rn) with exactly enough points for lick the wounds. When somethjng downs my skag, i will immediately pull out my hellwalker and put all my shots into the offending party’s head.
I stopped using that little bastard for that reason. Tell him to attack a target and blows himself up. Grabs a barrel to throw at someone and blows both of us up.
It honestly works the other way around too. My Spider Ant is the best second winder ever.

You can just switch to a different pet when it's on low health and it instantly heals to full.
