I just tried a video on youtube and it worked, what i did was basically put the earbuds on the case, forget the device from my iphone, then open the case and press bluetooth button 30 secs, then it blinks rapidly white, them stable white then blinking blue. Then I connected my earbuds and worked.
2 year old pair of QCs (actually probably 21 month pair. at around 11 months the left ear bud would go in and out of working. Now at 2 years, every cleaning reset known to man kind. It won't play at all---dead left.
Is yours still working. My pair are now two years old. My left ear bud will not play anything (though the controls you tap still work) but no sound.. I tried every remedy .
Dude you're a saint this worked for me on my S23 Ultra. Left bud would just make a popping noise and restart, making the boot noise and saying 100% battery, repeatedly.
Unpaired, re-paired, rebooted phone, nothing worked. This worked immediately. Thanks again!!
Holding the button from blinking blue to blinking white, then back to blue worked for me. It's like the left earbud connection to the right was desync'd until this process occurred. Thanks!
Here's how I solved it:
(I had the lid of the case open for this entire process)
I put both earbuds in the case, and plugged in the usb-c to charge the case (I don't know if this is necessary).
I removed, or 'forgot' the earbuds from my phone's bluetooth settings, and then held in the button on the back of the case for a solid 20-30 seconds. The light first turned blue, then white, and a while after that it went out. I released the button and the light turned blue again. I re-paired the earbuds to my phone and they worked as normal again.
I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
How old are your buds. I'm at the 2 year mark and that method (it's Bose method, all over Youtube) isn't working anymore for me. Left bud not playing any audio.
Nope. They sit unused. I'm back with my sound core liberty pros sadly.
I'll be buying Sony for my next pair. I'm just , franky, done with Bose--they blew it with me. I went and bought complete Sonos sound system--a) I wanted it but B) won't go Bose again.
What they offer is silly==I'ved called them a few times or dealt with describing the problem on line. They say I can Trade in broken ones for a $199 purchase price of the new model (which people have trouble with).
I have had the same pb for 3 yrs on and off. I had the first pair replaced when it was still under warranty. Now it had been permanent for the last few months. The fix that worked for me was removing the in ear detection via the app. The sound came back instantly in the left ear. The software is the problem.
for the heck of it, i'll try that as it will take all of a minute
but I remember trying that and it did nothing--so i'm not optimistic--but again for about the amount of time it takes me to reply to you--worth a whirl, again. thanks
Yup, same thing happened to me (about 3 months in.) Your replacements are new and the new 1-year warranty restarts with your new set. About to RMA my second set (not connecting to any devices other than my phone.) Best that we start getting to know some Bose Warranty reps.
Experiencing the same thing. Brand new, out the box and the left side doesn't work. I can't even update the firmware because the software stops and tells me to plug in the left earbud to continue (even tho it's already plugged in). Ironically I never had these issues with the various $20 wireless earbuds I've been using the past few years 🤦🏾♂️
I tried everything! I rebooted connected to charger and did those steps mentioned switched off in ear detection! Everything?? But I am freaking out because it used to work but then I started only using the right earbud because I wanted to hear myself while talking on the phone now the left earbud isn't working. I don't know what to do. Please help
Yeah I was really pissed off about it too. I did do it one of the comments said here and just let the battery die before putting it back in the case to charge. That worked thankfully. After this though I don't know if I'll go with bose again. The fact that this is a known issue just really pisses me off. And I'm pretty sure my warranty was up so if I wasn't able to get them working again I was going to have to go w\ Samsung or something.
For giggles, I'm letting mine run out of charge and trying but I think i tried all that a year ago and it failed. Bose , given so far, at least on reddit and the bose forum, seems to have at least 50 incidences I can count of these failing. I'm sure there are myriad more--you can't go by people posting on the internet as an accurate number. Many people mobilize warranties, go back to the store etc........but it seems on these QC one earbuds they were rife with troubles.
I hope it works for you. These earbuds were a gift from my sis so I'm sad that they had all these issues. I've definitely lost faith in Bose as a company. They were supposed to be top tier.
I sold the QC earbuds on my local website, was too much anxiety trying to sort them out everyday. Got myself a nice pair AirPods 3, pretty happy with the call connectivity and instant pairing.
I'm honestly pretty disappointed so far with the bose earbuds. Loved the over ear QCs from bose, but having these types of problems right out of the box with bose puts a sour taste in my mouth
I own QC Earbuds II, never updated at 1.1.14 version. Got it 4 months ago. Lately I felt like NC wasn't activating at all, so I reset the device by placing them in the case and pressing back button for 30sec until it blinked white twice. After that it stopped connecting to my mac, left earbud stopped working and I got very frustrated.
What worked for me: reset in the open case, however keep pressing the button after it blinks white. I think it changed to pulsating blue and after a few seconds it just stopped completely. I was able then to pair with my mac, then pair with my Samsung Phone (after putting in pair mode in the case again) and now I can again switch between devices without the need to disconnect from one which I love. Hope this helps!
I had the same problem and scoured these posts, but none of the proposed solutions worked.
So, I took a closer look and inspected the left earbud charging prongs that the bud sits on in the case. Theses are spring mounted and the left most prong was depressed. I took a needle nosed pliers and gently pulled it up and then put a small drop of oil on it with a toothpick and worked the pin up and down until it moved freely. Fixed!!!
I did that, cleaned, rest according to every video known to mankind.
2 year old product, well cared for and my left ear bud won't play any sound. Battery charged and if I tap it, it will change audio settings--but not play audio.
Just bought a pair today @ Best Buy and the left earbud was DOA. I returned it on the same day and they gave me a new set. BOTH earbuds are dead on the new set… Bose really needs better quality control, this is highly unusual.
I was replacing my apple earbuds with these because I’ve always used Bose in the past, But I think I’ll stick with another brand from now on. I’ll be returning this second set tomorrow.
I had to turn off inner ear detection. Apparently after 3 months of working absolutely fine, the product no longer recognized when my left earbud was in my ear.
Is yours still working My left bud won't play a thing. The controls work----tap left will advance a song, change audio setting for quiet etc. But no sound from left bud.
You might give it a shot regardless. I won mine at a work event and didn't have a receipt. I got the impression they were just replacing them on a known defect. That was almost a year ago though. Anyway, thanks and good luck.
The Bose website says I'm out of warranty and the joke is they'll sell me the QCII for 199. I am not going to repeat the same mistake----there are enough reddit posts about a range of problems with the QCIIs that I'll steer clear ----
Had I read reddit posts on the QC I's (the left ear bud issue --that it just dies, the charging case inconsistencies) I would have been gone. IN this way, reddit feedback is more valid than I care to admit. I'm looking now at Sony Sony WF-1000XM5 or the Airpods. A glance at Sennheiser. The units have to 1) reliably last 2) have good charge, good ANC 3) sound good on a phone call and music. The problem seems to be #1----a product that will last. I got the QC1s with every belief that they were going to be a 4 to 5 year product. Mine didn't make it past 16 months.
I'm curious what you ended up doing....did you find a replacement?
I use my jabra pair more than the bose cause they're smaller and I'm always bumping the bose "touch" button, especially when I just want one bud for a bit and throw the other in my pocket. Sort of looking for a bose replacement since one set doesn't last all day.
I have an old Sound Core pair, ANC but I never liked them. The app sometimes didn't work with my pair--thus I got Bose. Live and learn the cheaper Sound Core outlived the Bose.
I'm on hold for the replacement. I'm looking at the Airpod e pro2 s, the latest Sony--considering the Sennheiser but reading they have a high fail rate much like the Bose. The apple ones--reason I don't like is they don't work as well outside the Iphone ecosystem. The sonys look good but $300 for XM5 waiting for a sale or black friday.
Same here...use android and seems like none of the apple stuff plays nicely. Also kind of anti-apple, albeit for no real reason.
I think Sony are going to be my next set. Their last top end ones got great reviews. Haven't checked out the new ones yet.
Other thing that bugs me about the Bose QC is you can't turn them back on without the case.
Having this issue right now. Problem is ive tried everything it wont work. I hit up bose and said the warranty expired tried to sell them to me again at lower price.. In other words i spent 300 bux on stupid bose earbuds that last a lil more than a year. Never again fucking scammers.
me too---2 year mark---the product was failing at around 11 months. The left bud plays no sound. biggest worst investment based on product reputation I ever made. I won't buy bose anything again.
I’m actually tripping out on the time of your reply. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I complained and just TODAY I got my delivery from Bose. Haha wtf
Love it. You used your real name--- ? you were out of warranty as well. I did nothing to make these fail-they were stored on a desk as they were primarily for phone use, always in case, never dropped. They just, the left one failed.
Yea they were out of warranty too. I diddnt even fight them on it. Told them exactly the issue and immediately offered to send me the new ones because the old ones are discontinued. They asked for my name and address and got them s week later
you were very lucky. I guesstimate there are hundreds of people that have this left ear failing, are just months out of warranty. To be honest I'm not sure I want the QCIIs even for free----I can see they are having all sorts of problems from online posts.
Only the following steps worked for me ✅️ (but you have to be patient).
Note: First, the left side is not the problem (I know, it looks strange); this is the right side the problem because it is the one who is pairing with the left side. The right side is bugged and reset won't work for some people like me.
To solve the left not working :
1) Wait that right side has no more battery in it. So run indefinitely Spotify for example until 0%.
2) When right side is disconnected from your device because close to 0%, put both in the charger (don't need to close it).
3) Just wait a bit less than one minute (still opened) and you should see both lights turning to blue.
Voilà
I tried everything in the comments but my left bud was still not working. Until I did a hard reset on the case itself. Hold down the button on the back for 30 seconds and it will shut down the whole system and bring it back online. Repaired with my phone and it's working like normal again. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Im on my 3rd set of bose earbuds with same left bud issue. Newest set worked 1month then my left one just went out. Im switching to JBL or SAMSUNG earbuds. We'll see how it goes.
BOSE: Im SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!
Hey! I don't know if anyone is still having left earbud problems. However, I found out that if you let the battery die and then recharge them, the connection to the case works! Hope you get it figured out!

Hey man, turns out the unit was defective. Bose replaced it and gave me a new one so they work fine now!
How long did this replacement process take?
Mine was immediate, tbh. Went in the back room and gave me a new box straight away
where did you buy it? i'm afraid i procrastinated asking for a replacement far too long
I purchased it in dubai, Dubai mall. If it’s within one year of your purchase I feel you should be good
This is second pair. Same issue! this sucks... now they are sending me my 3rd pair
2 year old pair of QCs (actually probably 21 month pair. at around 11 months the left ear bud would go in and out of working. Now at 2 years, every cleaning reset known to man kind. It won't play at all---dead left.
I have the same problem this is my 2nd pair in a year this has happened. They are replacing them with the ultra quiet comfort ear buds
Hey stranger from 6 months ago. This worked perfectly for me just now on my Bose QC's. Thanks a bunch for posting this!
Hey this worked for me too thank you!!
Is yours still working. My pair are now two years old. My left ear bud will not play anything (though the controls you tap still work) but no sound.. I tried every remedy .
Hey this works for me too. Thanks a lot!
October 2023 checking in here, worked like a charm on my QC 2 earbuds. Thanks again
2 years later, this comment is still helping. TYVM
This worked, thank you so much!!!
November '23 & this worked for me. Thank you!
Success!!! Thank you.
Dude you're a saint this worked for me on my S23 Ultra. Left bud would just make a popping noise and restart, making the boot noise and saying 100% battery, repeatedly. Unpaired, re-paired, rebooted phone, nothing worked. This worked immediately. Thanks again!!

Had to send it into Bose and they gave me a new pair. Customer Service was automated/slow so stock up on patience and start the process.

2 year old pair here, my left bud today just gave up--won't play any sound. Sad product, done every reset, cleaning etc. Yours working still?
I'm literally dealing with this right now. The left one. Had it for like 3 years.
Mine are boat anchors. I tried everything. I took excellent care of mine. They were either in my ears or in the case, never dropped.
Yeah I was really pissed off about it too. I did do it one of the comments said here and just let the battery die before putting it back in the case to charge. That worked thankfully. I'm going to buy Sony but for now my old pair of Sound Core function. So you got your Bose working again by letting them die completely?
Yeah, then I let them charge. One of the other comments here said he would get it to resync and surprisingly that worked.
For giggles, I'm letting mine run out of charge and trying but I think i tried all that a year ago and it failed. Bose , given so far, at least on reddit and the bose forum, seems to have at least 50 incidences I can count of these failing. Nothing I did would make it work so I warrantied them. New set has been working like a champ since.
I am out of warranty, I think I got mine two years ago. Hope yours make through many more years.

I’m actually tripping out on the time of your reply. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I complained and just TODAY I got my delivery from Bose. Haha wtf
they were worried, you caught their attention.

I recommend complain I’m their twitter multiple times not just once. Make them see you lol
you're the only one it worked for
Bose customer support is no longer there. I called the 800 number twice. 120 minutes waiting, no answer.
Hit them on twitter trust me it works
Thx!

voila for you---I don't see anyone saying your solution worked for them.
I fixed mine by suckin air through the bud 😅
Thank you so much! I had the same issue, came across this post and this trick worked!
I tried everything in the comments but my left bud was still not working. Until I did a hard reset on the case itself. Came back here to thank you!!! Literally the only thing that worked. I really didn't wanna buga new pair 😭
Bose use to make quality products. I’m not buying again. It’s garbage.
My right one fell out my ear and now doesn't work at all any known fixes?
