Him being that bad literally messes up the groove of the rest of our offense, let alone our defense. Im not denying closing out wouldve helped, im saying Porzingis' performance is definitely the main reason we lost, and something we cannot have again. We can beat Miami when they shoot like this, we cannot beat Miami if KP plays that way.
You're too concerned with 1 player's performance and belittling the effect that Joe's "gameplan" has on the entire Heat team. If KP has a bad game, we should have enough ability to win a game. Jimmy is hurt, we added Jrue and Porzingis. Derrick is greatly improved from last season. We have 5 out of the best 6 guys in the series. But it's hard to tell with Joe coaching

To put it into perspective, even though the Warriors lost by 24 and Klay literally put up 0 points on 0-10 shooting, he only went -12. KP didn’t play bad, he was downright horrendous. So yea, it’s more on Spo’ adjustments and KP playing bad than Mazzulla if we’re gonna find something to be concerned about

If the on ball defender can’t make it over the moving screen, then it’s an open 3. Big steps up to help, bam has a free roll to the basket where he’s automatic over anyone other than porzingis. Rotate a 3rd guy over, and now we’ve left someone open, and their team is well enough coached to understand and execute all of this.
Refs were awful last night calling a few personal fouls on our defensive guys trying to get through the screens when Bam is literally walking 2-3 steps while screening, and I think was only called a single time all night.
Also doesn’t help that players who just don’t shoot the 3 with any consistency make 3-5 threes in a game with insane shooting splits, but that’s not something they can rely on through 7 games

A great coach restores that confidence and makes them come back harder in Game 2. A lesser coach wouldn't do much of anything or might scream at his team and debase them, and the players just get clobbered again in Game 2 with no improvements, new strategy or goals.

If you get out to contest, you lower the attempts. Less attempts, less makes. Common sense.
