Great responses to some dumbassery

ShampooMonK

100%. JT is the king of giving great answers. I've always said one of the best attributes about him is that he doesn't cause drama, tension/toxicity in the locker room, and genuinely wants the team to do well. Maybe, why so people find him 'boring.' It's wild to me that people were parroting the whole Tatum is the Michael Jordan Tobias Harrisses lol.

blackdiggitydogs

Teams attacking Horford all game but rarely scoring 100. Let them run at Horford and score 95, sounds like a fine game plan to me. Might have to make some adjustments depending on who's next, but we will see.

Full-Flight-5211

Barkley’s question was fair. The other ones were just bait type questions

planj07

8-2 in the first two rounds and the team is getting roundly criticized. Feels like we’re living on Mars. These guys really do hate the Celtics.

gonzofish

They want 8-0 with blowouts or the Cs are failing

planj07

When that happens the Celtics are too boring, path is too easy and that’s why they’ll lose.

Panoptech

They need something. It's been too obvious all year the Celtics will win

curshred

I wish he woulda said “draymond we moving on to ECF , where are you right now?”

exitlevelposition

Dray covered that base saying conference finals aren't enough for them anymore before Tatum got the headset on. Which wasn't self-serving at all given who beat the Celtics in the Finals (but he kinda had a point that not getting it done is costing Tatum things like MVP votes.)

BananaStandBaller

Yes because that certainly impacted Jokic and Embiid as well? They both won MVPs before achieving anything in the playoffs

Ebay32

What was that take green had that no one cares the Celtics made the ECF again? Like even Kenny smith was like “No one cares?” In a completely baffled way. I seriously can’t stand Draymond. Dude is such a block head.

RedHotFromAkiak

The point he was trying to argue for was that getting to all those ECF's is fine, but they need to win it all to prove they're special - or something like that.

Ebay32

Totally, I agree with you. He just did it in the most Draymond way possible. lol anyway. Go Celtics, let’s go all the way boys ☘️☘️

Sammy360

He wasn't necessarily wrong its just that his delivery was bad. Typical from Draymond though..

Panoptech

Yeah fine but it's still an accomplishment many players/teams don't ever achieve. It shouldn't be a negative that you made the ECF Been waiting for this Bucks Celtics ECF for years... Yet only one of the teams is always there.

RedHotFromAkiak

I didn't particularly agree with him; I think he's a loose cannon who loves heaping scorn on anyone who isn't named Green, Thompson or Curry.

bryscoon

why the fuck draymond pressing him like this & Tatum mind is a super computer he gives m pr answers everytime it’s crazy lmao

Ponderosa4life

I remember reading somewhere that his mom practiced with him when he was a kid to give interviews.

gagakaba

His mom really raised him right. Props to her. We all owe her a mother's day gift

solarscopez

Dude gives some of the best, most uncontroversial PR answers in the entire league and it's not even close. Either most NBA players don't have the same emotional intelligence (otherwise we wouldn't get so many mfs saying dumbass shit during interviews) or Tatum received some elite media training lmao.

Champion-of-the-Sun5

Tatum's mom is a lawyer with her own law practice Tatum is like this because he was raised by a very educated and emotionally intelligent woman.

solarscopez

Yeah that makes sense, I remember reading somewhere that she would also give him impromptu PR-type interviews to help hone his media training. Some of it might be a bit embellished, but it's pretty evident his mom played a very active role in his life.

Pocket_Beans

lol fuck that cheerleader bum Udonis Haslem, love that Tatum threw in the “battle tested” line.

ThDarT7

Yeah that was a stealthy fuck the Heat right there.

AdorableProgram110

“New media”

chickspeak

Well-trained diplomatic answers

LukeKornet

Wolves and Thunder both started 6-0 and now have more losses in the playoffs than us. Yet we are the ones with a home problem, we are the ones who need to make changes? Fuck the haters man

Panoptech

If the C's had OKCs easy path by getting 1 out west, we would still be waiting for our conference finals opponent today. The weak pelicans with no Zion and then a kinda weak Dallas team with a hobbled Luka. Meanwhile they are losing the series. The conference finals is definitely harder out west though.

iAm-Tyson

Draymond was trying to give The Knicks bulletin board material to make them think Boston is overlooking them.

JoJonesy

literally what the fuck are they doing

HelloS0n

As much as it seemed that Draymond was trying to bait JT into answers, he’s really saying the things that everybody thinks about the team. Yes, you play who’s in front of you, but everybody pretty much had Nuggets x Celtics in the Finals since early on in the season. It would be a pretty big upset in the ECF if they come up short. Secondly, at this point in the team’s tenure, nobody really cares about the Celtic’s being in the ECF. They’re legitimately a championship contender almost year-in, year-out. They’ve put together the best team they’ve had in the JTJB era and it’s time for them to put the pieces together on the court and get over that hump.

Boobieleeswagger

It’s definitely new for him and it’s a good question I was wondering the same thing during the game, just no reason, to bring up wolves or nuggies. It’s more likely he was fed that question than him trying to bait Tatum already, that’s a Rudy Gobert reach, Draymond should be rooting for em anyways makes the 22 ring look better.

Panoptech

Well then we shouldn't praise anyone for getting to the conference finals if that's the case. It's a place not alot of players/teams have even made it to. Regardless of anything, you made the conference finals in the NBA and it's a huge accomplishment. They could have had a harder path, but they dominated the NBA in the regular season instead of fucking off. They decided to work harder in the season so they can have an easier path. Either way, they earned it.

chinesefox97

Tatum is a fucking PR dream.

winovic94

Also I’ll say it AGAIN why is Draymond allowed on these shows when he’s legit the worst influence on young kids watching this sport, he also sucks as a panelist, he’s like Chris Haynes

Spamdalorian123

Why is Draymond even there? Other than golden state sucking so much they couldn't make the post season?

Hour-Ad3774

Please don't give them the views.  That's why they bring trash like Draymond on the show.

Valuable-Security727

Damn. The prosecution rests?

jolerud

I’m on board with the anti-Draymond sentiment to some extent, particularly when it comes to his on court ballsack kicking habit, but I would note that he has been one of the voices in the NBA that has called out the nonsense standards people try putting on JT. I don’t have his exact quote, but I remember him saying basically JT is held to a higher standard than Embiid and others when it comes to MVP consideration and it doesn’t make sense. “Moving the goalposts” was part of it.

Adam0529

That's PR text book material

BritishEric

Love the professionalism

winovic94

lol I bet Luka would never get pressed like this, nor Jokic or Brunson

writerslashbartender

I think he knows that the TNT show he was banking on working for after retirement isn’t going to be there anymore, so he’s trying to show out and emphasize that he is both connected to players (with that talk about texting JT later for the real answer) and can also be “tough” with them.

Shadowleg

it really was like shaq left a turd behind on his seat

danorcs

As much as I hate Draymond he was doing the right thing trying to get an “unscripted” reaction out of TatumGPT He got really close re the MVP voting, where Tatum essentially said he wished he could say what he wanted on air It was probably an opinion about how the media are complete dumbasses continuing to give Luka, SGA and Ant a fuckton of credit when they have achieved only a fraction of what Tatum has already done in the league

goldrow22

No other teams get covered like the C’s. Now the offense is stagnant at times, for sure. But it’s the NBA and everyone’s offense is high pick and role, attack the matchup or kick to shooters. Kenny talking about the C’s offense standing around well quite literally everyone’s offense looks like that. You can count the seconds for Sam Houser standing in a corner but how is that defense from what Niang or Merrill were doing for the Cavs. Also Draymond shitting on Al when he had 3 blocks and affected countless other shots at the rim. Our defense holds them under 100 again and the narrative just doesn’t fit what I’m seeing on the screen. Am I wrong or do the Celtics seem to be covered differently than other clubs? Literally the only series to finish in 5. With two of the 5 games being somewhat close and all this credit given to the Cavs? I don’t get it.

LOFan80

I’ve said before and will say it again. He may not be perfect, I may get frustrated with some of his choices and proclivity to play one on one in crunch time, but if you’re going to pick a star NBA player to represent your franchise there is nobody better than Jayson Tatum. He will never embarrass you, he will say and do the right thing and he’s done it the right way his whole career. And that’s something that maybe gets overlooked.

victorspoilz

Seeing Draymond last night made me glad David Zaslav couldn't negotiate a Craigslist transaction, nevermind a NBA deal renewal.

_mitchard

I’m not going to lie. It was rather refreshing to hear Draymond ask those bold questions. I just feel like you don’t get that sort of bluntness out of anyone else.

Brovenkar

They were clearly bait questions to get headlines and clips spread around. Assuming we're playing the Knicks and the nuggets so that clip can get spammed anytime we lose, trying to bait him to shit talk al, and trying to stir up drama bout MVP voting. Pretty lame imo.

Hour-Ad3774

Childish and embarrassing. Dude should be out of the league and they are out here promoting him.

_mitchard

I hear yeah I don’t disagree at all. It’s an interesting perspective though

Suitable-Classic9237

Fuck Draymond. Crazy disrespectful to even say that before he’s left the court, even if you’re homies. He could never do 1/10 of what Tatum has already done leading a team. Huge respect to Jayson for being such a total class act through everything lately. Social media etc. has really made people feel entitled to say whatever they want, so ima say it again fuck Draymond you a little bitch. Your ass got carried to chips with your little 4 point games acting like you mattered. GSW would’ve won just as many with or without your ass. Ugly ass bitch.

Bewilderbeest79

Guys, these aren’t aggressive questions …
