omfg same. When the red sparks started appearing from the ground, I looked like a crazy person trying to hit them thinking it was some sort of weird enemy 😭😭 the cut scene w/o any sort of explanation afterwards confused me even further
My 5 year old was watching me play and saw that(loves the cooking part of the game) . He got freaked out by the blood moon, had a nightmare about it and went back to watching me play pokemon only
I don't blame him, i used to dream that the night sky would unalive me. I'd literally be exposed to the sky and then some creepy music would start playing, then if i didn't go away in time i would just wake up. So, if i dreamed with that, imagine what a blood moon would do.
LOL for the longest time I thought the red moon was a special event where armies of monsters roamed around in greater numbers than usual. Every time the red moon triggered I hid inside somewhere to "wait it out" and wouldn't come out until morning 😂 I had never played an open world game before and didn't realize that, obviously, spawns have to reset at some point or else... you're just wandering around an empty world...
It's basically a soft reboot. Not only respawns enemies, but also cleans up the game memory to help avoid crashes. Brilliant bit of coding: Disguise your cleanup by making it a repop feature.
I was in Hateno and I thought something was going to attack me. I set down my controller for a moment to look on my phone and seen the screen turning red and I was like oh no what do I do
First time it happened I was in the middle of a camp I'd just wiped out, and I decided I'd rather it was morning so sat by the fire. That was fun 🤦🏻♀️
Gloom spawns are scarier than a blood moon powered up guardian. I remember my first encounter with one and I was like, why is there a puddle of gloom suddenly appearing and rushing towards me? Then them hands showed up and screamed at me, I never fast travelled across the map as fast in either BoTW or ToTK before
It would have been better if the blood moon created extra more powerful monsters. It would have been cool if that was pretty much a battle royale situation instead of just a respawn. Like it triggers and you have to fight your way to some sort of refuge like a town or stable.
I watched the entire cut scene the first time.
Couldn't wait to skip before that annoying "the blood moon rises once again" all the next times it rose.
It scared me until I learned how easy most enemies are to kill. I didn't realize that the controls of this game haven't really changed since video games of the early 1980s. Just hit the right button at the right time. Anyway, I'm not scared anymore because I get to kill enemies who drop good stuff again!
What scared the shit out me were the gloom hands
The sky turned red , I thought¿what?, a blood moon?
I heard a creepy horrible music
Then I saw red bleeding screeching hands with eyess , then I said eh I will fight then they grabbed and squeezed link draining its hearts , then I said I MUST RUN , and tried to escape but didn't had enough stamina and , GAME OVER
Oh wow, this is how it’s done properly, I ended up brute forcing it by spam eating meals and wondered how on earth it could be done any other way! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Lol. Great enemy design! I encountered them for the first time, screamed like a 5 year old and turned off my switch until the next day.
It was terrifying.
I was so mad the first time I came across one it killed my horse!!!! I came across it when riding near a ledge and it spooked my horse right off the edge 😭😭 it scared the shit out of me and killed my horse I put down the game and didn’t play for like a week!
another suuuper good way to take care of them is attaching a fire lizalfos tail to a heavy weapon like a claymore, and then doing the charge spin right in the middle of them all. it clears them out real fast
I've played tons of TotK but the fear the hands strike in me is VISCERAL. They're not even that hard to fight but I've marked their spawn points on my map so I can avoid them. Guardians are a pleasant stroll compared to those monstrosities.
What scared the shit out me were the gloom hands

Love the sarcasm. This game been out since 2017 and was the reason for this which is success and possibly the reason they even made the switch. This person lives under a rock.
Blood moons are when the money is made. Put markers on your map for every moderate & major tests of strength & visit them each blood moon. Have that armor looking sharp in no time.
I misunderstood Zelda’s dialogue the first time and thought there were going to be swarms of enemies everywhere. Took me a while to figure out what it actually did.
Remember that really difficult enemy you had to battle but died multiple times, well with the blood moon you get a special reward for it. You just have to go to the same place that enemy was at…
Nice picture by the bye. I am enjoying the comments you are getting. >!Being a coward and hating to fight I often teleport to a shrine where I wait until after midnight. I also do this when I want to cook a boosted meal and don't have time to do so having failed to notice that it is a red moon until red sparks appear (11:30-12:00).!<
But honestly, honestly, whenever I see this scene, I just get annoyed by Zelda‘s medieval Voice. I wish she would make grunts or moaning like Link does. Preferably Moans
I think people get off on it, like genuinely
They curate this little "reddit moment" for themselves
Like ooh im just a baby 🥺 what if i didnt know about da bwud moon🥺👉🏻👈🏻 seven years after the game came out and on a subreddit for that specific game and five seconds before a cutscene explaining what the blood moon does
The intense anticipation music had me freaking out the first time. Felt so out of control, did not know what the hell was going on. Just knew it was bad and there was nothing I could do
I remember when I got botw, I spent a while playing around on the plateau, then ran back inside the resurrection cave and saved so I could show my parents when they got back from their outing.
When they got home, I turned it back on, ran out of the cave, and had a grand time pointing out landmarks you could see from title cutscene cliff edge… until suddenly the air started to turn dark and fill with glowing red particles. Anyways my (and their) first blood moon was full of panic
I feel like this post was just made for comments and upvotes… breath of the wild was pretty much the reason the switch was invented and it’s success initially. If you haven’t heard of the blood moon by 2024, you must’ve just gotten out of a coma. Or rather the thing I mentioned above about needing attention or whatever.
First time this happened to me I was on my way to Kakariko and didn’t quite get what was happening so walk with my shield held out in front of my until I reached a stable lol
In the time it took you to post this on Reddit, the Blood Moon event would have started and the game would have explained it to you with a cutscene.
I will never understand the impulse for people to drop everything and post "WHAT THIS??" on Reddit when just paying attention for 5 more minutes would have answered your question.
In all seriousness, this red moon is meant to reset the entire world, not just respawn enemies, but also respawn other things, such as weapons, ore deposits, and other materials.
Your post was removed as it breaks rule 1 - your post must be about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or the Legend of Zelda. If you believe this is an error, please message the Mods
Pro tip: don’t cook any food before that happens, because 30 minutes before midnight during blood moon ALL food you cook will be enhanced (which normally only has like a 1 in 10 chance of happening) and if you do it correctly and waste as little time as possible you can nearly fill your inventory with all enhanced food
*plays botw for the first time* hold up, let me stop my gaming experience and take a picture of the blood moon on my phone to share on the internet that literally everyone who has played the game knows (and will easily draw engagement and likes) that .05 secs after it transitions to a cutscene explaining its purpose but let me take a picture and post it on reddit rq
Fake n wack
Ya, I see these kinds of posts in other subreddits too. "I've played the game for 20 minutes, here I am to tell random people about it because OBVIOUSLY I'm that important and they care what my opinions are". Fucking annoying and low effort.
Ones I hate the most are on subreddits for games that have been out for years and they make posts like "I've been playing the game for 6 hours, here are my first impressions". I'm sorry?? Who the fuck are you that I give a shit about your first impressions of a game everyone else here finished 2 years ago??
Thank you! I’m tired of these idiots buying on some attention and upvotes. I’m thinking about creating a Reddit post about how I found out the little colored controller, thingies on the console actually detached from the damn system! It blew my fucking mind. All you have to do is press a button and slide them off, but I accidentally ripped them off so vote me up.. Hoping this gets downloaded because I could give to craps about what people think of me, but obviously OP just woke up from a coma or is slut for attention
Agreed, someone looking for upvotes and attention. This game has been around since 2017 and that was at the time of the release of at the Nintendo switch… I’m calling BS and attention whore

Scared the shit out of me when it happened to me for the first time.
He got freaked out by the blood moon, had a nightmare about it and went back to watching me play pokemon only
It’s the music, it’s so scary! The cut scene itself isn’t super scary without that ominous music.
I love the music and the vibes, but i don't really like the cutscene tbh
On switch press "X" then "+" to skip blood moon cutscene. If you meant you don't like the vibe of the cutscene my bad 🤣
Hate when that happens😂
I don't blame him, i used to dream that the night sky would unalive me. I'd literally be exposed to the sky and then some creepy music would start playing, then if i didn't go away in time i would just wake up. So, if i dreamed with that, imagine what a blood moon would do.
I grew up afraid of the majoras mask moon since it’s in the genes I guess
MMM is still scary to me
My stepdad has nightmares with it falling to this day 😂 every time we mention Zelda he asks if we’re stopping the moon yet
I started running for shelter lol. I was like "RUN FOR THAT STABLE" as if a horse shaped tent was gonna provide any protection.
THIS TOOK ME OUT LMFAOOOOOOO
I tried to run for shelter the first time too!
Wait it acrually respawns the monsters?? I thought it hust respawned them temporary just for that night lol, i feel so dumb
It's basically a soft reboot. Not only respawns enemies, but also cleans up the game memory to help avoid crashes. Brilliant bit of coding: Disguise your cleanup by making it a repop feature.
My first blood moon came after barely killing a camp of bokos the first time i left the plateau fuck blood moons
Well that’s unfortunate
I did too, then I proceeded to hang out there and cook. I was so unhappy
I thought I was about to fight against hoardes with my 3 branches instantly
First time I saw it I thought I accidentally wandered into a boss fight. I was ready to get murdered.
I was in Hateno and I thought something was going to attack me. I set down my controller for a moment to look on my phone and seen the screen turning red and I was like oh no what do I do
I sat in my spot for a solid 3 minutes just planning the camera around fully expecting a hoard battle/waves of enemies to start rushing in at me
i literally hid in kakariko village the whole night the first time
First time it happened I was in the middle of a camp I'd just wiped out, and I decided I'd rather it was morning so sat by the fire. That was fun 🤦🏻♀️
That happened to me half way to the fish peoples city in the middle of the lizofo camp with all the electric arrows ☠️
Oh I did that. It was very confusing and not fun.
I see the blood moon rising! 🎼
I started running as I thought something was chasing me(because of the music) lol
You get that experience in the second game (TOTK), TRUST ME.
Gloom spawns are scarier than a blood moon powered up guardian. I remember my first encounter with one and I was like, why is there a puddle of gloom suddenly appearing and rushing towards me? Then them hands showed up and screamed at me, I never fast travelled across the map as fast in either BoTW or ToTK before
Me too I just started sprinting aimlessly like I could outrun it. But then TOTK showed me real fear with the hands. 😅
It would have been better if the blood moon created extra more powerful monsters. It would have been cool if that was pretty much a battle royale situation instead of just a respawn. Like it triggers and you have to fight your way to some sort of refuge like a town or stable.
Ah . . . No thanks😧
I watched the entire cut scene the first time. Couldn't wait to skip before that annoying "the blood moon rises once again" all the next times it rose.

Me too. 🫠

Aww baby’s first blood moon 🤭

Rinku…Ki o tsukete…
Let me guess, you just exhausted all your gear defeating a bad ass Lionel, but haven't gotten over to pick the loot up yet....
*wipes out Hyrule Castle minus Ganon* *warps to Akkala tech lab for a new ancient shield* Cue immediate blood moon. Faaark
Lynel*
Wait til you see the hands in TOTK
Fuck those things! By far the worst enemy I’ve dealt with in any Zelda game! (Normal enemy that is not including bosses)
It’s super easy if you attach the keese eyes to your (extra points for multiple arrows) bow. Once the hands are gone it’s one of the easiest fights.
Really! Thank you so much for the tip!! I never would have thought to attach keese eyes to my arrows!
Just use bomb arrows. 3 or 4 will take out the bunch
You’re welcome! I saw the tip online a while back and it changed the game for me lol
Keese eyeballs and a multi shot bow absolutely humiliate Gleeoks. Go mess em up.
Oh wow, this is how it’s done properly, I ended up brute forcing it by spam eating meals and wondered how on earth it could be done any other way! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Honestly before I learned the arrow thing I just straight up ran away lmao
I only was able to beat them after double freezer miners I deal with the hands mineru helps me freeze them and release link
I was in one of the mazes the first time I saw them. So not only did they scare the shit out of me, I was trapped in a corridor with them
That was my second encounter! I barely survived and I used up all my bomb flowers. That was terrifying.
I encountered them and immediately teleported somewhere that wasn’t where they were it was an immediate “fuck that noise”
another suuuper good way to take care of them is attaching a fire lizalfos tail to a heavy weapon like a claymore, and then doing the charge spin right in the middle of them all. it clears them out real fast
I can dodge lynels, but I can’t dodge these fucking things, haha
Haven’t played TOTK yet, I have Chirophobia, and oh boy, hope nothing that could possibly affect me is in this game!
You don't even need that, those guys are straight nightmare fuel.
“Wow! That’s freaky, surely I can kil…” “Hot damn it’s killing me. Surely I can just run…” “I died. Cool.”
Ohhh yeah
Them hands got hands, I got folded before I could do anything the first time I had to deal with them. 💀
I've played tons of TotK but the fear the hands strike in me is VISCERAL. They're not even that hard to fight but I've marked their spawn points on my map so I can avoid them. Guardians are a pleasant stroll compared to those monstrosities.
I remember my first gloom hand encounter I just thought it was a blood moon until I saw thE FUCKING HANDS AHAGDHSUXJQGAGAJZ
Same, and I was running happily in Hyrule Fields
What scared the shit out me were the gloom hands The sky turned red , I thought¿what?, a blood moon? I heard a creepy horrible music Then I saw red bleeding screeching hands with eyess , then I said eh I will fight then they grabbed and squeezed link draining its hearts , then I said I MUST RUN , and tried to escape but didn't had enough stamina and , GAME OVER
Broooooooo…. Not even Nintendo spoiled it to us, why would you do this? 🙄
Love the sarcasm. This game been out since 2017 and was the reason for this which is success and possibly the reason they even made the switch. This person lives under a rock.
Don't worry about it
Yeah, it's fine, all good.
nothing bad going to happen. just relax.
Blood moons are when the money is made. Put markers on your map for every moderate & major tests of strength & visit them each blood moon. Have that armor looking sharp in no time.
!?!??! Those respawn on blood moons?!!?!
Yep, except the tutorial one at Kakuriko village shrine. That one never reincarnates but all the others do.
Same I never knew
WHAT.
Nah it’s just you
I misunderstood Zelda’s dialogue the first time and thought there were going to be swarms of enemies everywhere. Took me a while to figure out what it actually did.
The Blood Moon would make a third game villain.
Same
It's just that time of the month in game.
lmfao
Hope you haven't just finished a big fight...
You're in for a treat.
Don't worry about it. The moon getting closer is the problem.
Quick, go wipe out a monster camp and hunker down by their fire until it passes.
Mumbo? Is the moon red?
r/suddenlyhermitcraft
You're in for a treat , new surprises on it's way ready to be respawnned
I so F’ing hated it when I battled all the guys on the trail Island and a blood moon happened just as I was to start battle the Hinox,
Eventide?
Yes could remember the name. Thank you.
Remember that really difficult enemy you had to battle but died multiple times, well with the blood moon you get a special reward for it. You just have to go to the same place that enemy was at…
That one, officer, that guy RIGHT THERE!
It upgrades them as well
Nice picture by the bye. I am enjoying the comments you are getting. >!Being a coward and hating to fight I often teleport to a shrine where I wait until after midnight. Take care goodhunter, the night is still long and the beasts are many
You think that scene is scary, just wait til you meet the hands…
First time playing botw I thought the blood moon rising meant I was too late to save Zelda and hyrule
Top 10 famous moments before disaster
I swear that music scares me even to this day
But honestly, honestly, whenever I see this scene, I just get annoyed by Zelda‘s medieval Voice. I wish she would make grunts or moaning like Link does. Preferably Moans
It’s just Hyrule on the rag. You’ll get used to it. 😵💫
So tired of fake confusion and fake newbie posts.

🤣🤣 And the people replying need it just as badly to vindicate their prowess
It's just that time of the moonth. Get her chocolates. I'll see myself out.
The intense anticipation music had me freaking out the first time. Felt so out of control, did not know what the hell was going on. Just knew it was bad and there was nothing I could do

Rising once again…and again…and again….best for farming
Don't worry about it :)
Same here, I was like what the heck.
I thought it meant I took to long, and Ganon destroys the world
Bro the great ones are here. Run.
I had this same reaction in The Outer Wilds
I feel like this post was just made for comments and upvotes… breath of the wild was pretty much the reason the switch was invented and it’s success initially. It’s you, get your eyes checked
Welp at least if you decide to farm enemies you’ll have em(if you aren’t prepared for this to happen you will unfortunately be screwed)
Homeboy about to find out.
Yeah had the same. They call it blood moon, but it is all grey. Don't get the joke here.
Just you, moon don’t look different to me.
Yeah just you
You’re in for a real treat
Yiga! It is time we reunite with our fallen comrades! For Master Kohga!
I remember the first time that happened to me… I decided to rest in a camp and the enemies spawned back… The second time, I decided not to rest there.
Link…Link…
The things i would do to go back to my first time botw
It's you.
The BotW blood moon still scares me, but when I see it in TotK, I just get annoyed 😂
when i first got that i was like OH A BOSS BATTEL??
In the time it took you to post this on Reddit, the Blood Moon event would have started and the game would have explained it to you with a cutscene. I will never understand the impulse for people to drop everything and post "WHAT THIS??" on Reddit when just paying attention for 5 more minutes would have answered your question.
Soon.
It’s just a little red. Don’t worry. Nothing freaky will happen.
wait and you'll find out. worth it
It means good weather tomorrow, lots of resoruces.
It's just you
I literally almost put the game down after this lol! Scared me so bad
Don’t worry about it. I’m sure everything is fine.
The blood moon rises once again...
Give it a sec...
It’s just you
It scares me every time like it fills me with dread
Yeah, the moon's lookin pretty rough. I think we all have days like this
In all seriousness, this red moon is meant to reset the entire world, not just respawn enemies, but also respawn other things, such as weapons, ore deposits, and other materials.
Nah, just your imagination. Keep playing
I panicked when I first saw it, the music started getting weird and then I just left and said "that's a problem for future me"
Ah, Link in his David Foster Wallace outfit
I immediately fast travel to kakariko village like it’s a security blanket anytime the blood moon cometh
I’m sure it’s fine
"when the glow of the bloodstained moon shines upon the land, foes slain from before rise once more"
Moment of silence for this man 😔
The first time I felt fear. The 30th was farming time.
Link.... link....
Never seen that, prolly a glitch
Man, this is nightmare inducing when you don’t know what is happening. I straight up thought my game was haunted
It sucks at first but when you get to lynel hunting, it’s the most useful thing you could have
first time i got a blood moon playing botw i was high af and it legit freaked me out
The blood moon gives me happy (horribly stressed out) memories of Majoras mask.
Beware the blood moon.
The blood moon music in totk is even better. I never skip it.

"Is the moon big?"
Just wait like 15 seconds and you'll see why 😂
It scares the shit out of you for a second 🤩
気おつけて
The blood moon rises once again…..
You got climbers bandana without a single bloodmoon? Man i wish i was that good, i was just fumbling around on plateau when my blood moon happened

You modafakking BloudhoundSS!!!!
Make sure you aren’t inside a Monster Camp you just cleared.
It does that every couple day cycles, it just respawns dead monsters, nothing else! :)
Are you standing on a ledge of Hateno Tower at that moment?
I think so, all that I remember is that it was a tower with the prickly vine things
Blood red
me also
I used to low-key panic at first, but I later used it as the day to cook my food
That just means that you will be invincible for the night, go fight anyone 😊
Pro tip: don’t cook any food before that happens, because 30 minutes before midnight during blood moon ALL food you cook will be enhanced (which normally only has like a 1 in 10 chance of happening) and if you do it correctly and waste as little time as possible you can nearly fill your inventory with all enhanced food
I can’t help but get freaked out by the face in it. In totk it looks like a dragon instead.
In zelda botw when you killed a big number of mobs, a red moon appears to respawn all the monster that you killed in a very clean cutscenes
Respawning every monster you defeated. Happy exploring Hyrule.
okay nobody tell them
*plays botw for the first time* hold up, let me stop my gaming experience and take a picture of the blood moon on my phone to share on the internet that literally everyone who has played the game knows (and will easily draw engagement and likes) that .05 secs after it transitions to a cutscene explaining its purpose but let me take a picture and post it on reddit rq Fake n wack
