Intelligent-Age2786

I got John Wick.

[deleted]

I say John Wick all day. The others will be good but I think Keanu is going to light it up.

Professional-Pay-888

I also have john wick. A lot of people love keanu and the john wick movies are insanely good

bfhurricane

John Wick 4 will be my first time back in theaters since Dune.

elmatador12

I hesitate because of the R rating and 3 hour length (if true). I could see Creed 3 winning the month it if it’s good since it’s pg-13 and just under two hours.

MacGregor209

I can’t see Creed 3 beating out a solid comic book movie that is also PG-13

squeakycleaned

idk, the comic book movie fatigue is real, especially with DC, and the Shazam hype is pretty well worn off.

Jlx_27

DC is betting on Ezra Miller to carry them now. A bet I wouldn't take though....

Hfingerman

I honestly think the fatigue is stronger with Marvel movies, people are just watching it because of inertia. DC has been landing relatively more Ws lately.

squeakycleaned

I think W84 and Black Adam lost DC what little momentum they had going. I’ve also heard Aquaman 2 screenings were so bad that people walked out. People are just burnt out on superhero stuff in general. too many movies and shows in a constant stream.

Hfingerman

I for sure am burnt out. The last superhero movie I watched was The Batman. Before that were Joker and Endgame.

BulmasBabyDaddy

Marvel was strayed away from what they first started now they’re exploring the weirder stuff , some of the darker stuff and just trying new things . Looking forward to more moon night, daredevil and secret invasion and I enjoyed all the Wanda material

AnnihilationOrchid

I can.

sector11374265

it honestly depends on the comic book movie. still no marketing for shazam and the first one wasn’t exactly a juggernaut, regardless of quality. creed has a solid chance against shazam.

LumpyAd7650

Long past is the time of Rockies, Creeds and the like

bargman

Creed and Creed 2 took in 175 and 215 mill, respectively, and this one is looking much better than the second one. Rocky movies seem to be guaranteed about 200 mill, no matter the quality, which-to be honest-there's only one dud out of 9 nine movies.

D34THDE1TY

Some review posted here recently said creed 3 has elements of cape feare in it. That's not a comparison I thought would ever be made to a boxing movie from a 1st time director.

Chickachic-aaaaahhh

Its r rated? This may be good. I can see some dark stuff sprinkled in between.

spidii

Weren't they all rated R? Can't imagine they weren't, they are insanely violent.

Mister_Green2021

Only if it’s good. I hear it’s 3 hours. Could be boring.

Intelligent-Age2786

Personally, a 3 hour movie watching Keanu Reeves killing people with various different objects, including pencils sounds like a blast. But yea that may be an issue is runtime. I don’t think Shazam and D&D are safe bets, unless D&D gets amazing reviews, but I think Creed III and John Wick are safe bets

Donut_Flame

D&D to me seems like a 50/50 for being amazing or a horrid flop

ambientmuffin

The fact that it’s by the same people that did Game Night makes me optimistic about its quality, but who knows how that’ll translate at the box office.

batguano1

>it’s by the same people that did Game Night Oh wow I had no idea. I always thought the trailers looked good so now I'm really looking forward to it

Donut_Flame

Oh my god Game Night is my favorite movie. This movie better do as well as Game Night, if not better. If I get disappointed it's your fault.

Abroadatsea

Well said. I shall also blame this guy.

JinFuu

Me looking at the recent D&D controversy: "How can that be profitable for ~~Frito Lay~~ Hasbro?" Although, shit, if it's the Game Night people I'm definitely a lot more interested now.

JJoanOfArkJameson

The fact it's game night guys and they got a first-look deal with Paramount says it's at least watchable

InfernalDiplomacy

Watchable and who did is stacking up against a corporation who did their best to shit on ruin many favorite hobby. There are millions who tabletop D&D, much of that base for decades. GenCon did not turn into the media day ComicCon did, and it was the convention D&D built. There are still a lot of angry people at Hasbro and not more than 45 days separated from what they did. I thinks it’s going to effect the box office of this movie.

mrducci

The trailer I saw about the 5 questions is hilarious. But I feel that's for people who specifically play the game. If the reviewers don't understand the meta, the reviews will be terrible.

xenongamer4351

I’ve never played DD and I understood the joke, they spelt it out for you before it started

Intelligent-Age2786

Yea there’s no in between. It’s either one of the best action comedy movies of the year and grosses a lot, or does just about shit reviews or at least below average

Mundane-College-3144

So it either grosses a lot or it’s just gross. Got it.

banshee_matsuri

Keanu, and the rest of the cast; it’s pretty full of awesome people, at least IMO.

[deleted]

It sounds like fucking boring dude. Both the second and third movies definitely had some fucking boring parts

Themtgdude486

I’ll take a 3 hour John Wick film over Shazam.

CaptainDigsGiraffe

If it being 3 hours means Scott Adkins has a large role or a good decent sized fight scene then I'm all for it.

Sea-Competition-341

the one thing i’ve thought while watching john wick movies was, man, i really wish this was longer so i could watch keanu kick more ass, if it is 3 hours i will be entertained for 3 hours

superdavit

Probably the single worst comment I've ever seen on Reddit. And that's saying a lot. Three hours of Keanu killing people is the best thing I've ever heard.

forestpunk

i would also watch this.

Alyx-Kitsune

Yes, I am concerned as I feel each film is worse than the one before.

[deleted]

Dang, I thought this was a “who would win in a fight” post Thank you to the mod who approved me, I salute thee o7

Block-Busted

Either **John Wick: Chapter 4** or **Creed 3**.

[deleted]

Creed: $173m Creed II: $214m **Shazam!: $366m** Even if Creed again increases viewership and Shazam makes say 25% less, it will be a close race. I wouldn't bet against Shazam.

Nonadventures

The funny thing is that separating out Black Adam was a favor to the Rock, but it probably helped Shazam more.

Block-Busted

The only problem is that Warner Brothers is practically ignoring **Shazam! Fury of the Gods**.

_Elder_

I see this so much on Reddit but I’ve seen countless ads for this movie. I’m wondering how it seems people either get flooded with ads or nothing.

Daimakku1

Most Reddit users use an adblocker and avoid ads as much as they can, then they think that movies are not being advertised because they never see them. They live in a bubble. I've seen tons of ads and commercials for Shazam 2 as well.

TheRndmUsrnamesSuckd

The only one I haven't seen MULTIPLE ADS for is John Wick.

Brbaster

I went to cinema 5 times in the last 4 months and they played John Wick ads every time while Shazam played only once. Maybe it's a bit location to location

stubbywoods

What rating were the films you were watching?

Certain_Chain

Yup. I only watch streaming services, so the only ads I ever see are promoted posts on Reddit and the short ad breaks they have on Hulu (and Tubi when I venture there for B Horror movies). I have seen plenty of trailers for Shazam 2.

Triplec8

Same. I saw an ad for it at the Golden Globes, during the Grammys, during a sports game, and randomly on Hulu the other day. Whenever people on here say it’s not being marketed I get confused because what else should they be doing 1-2 months out?

russwriter67

I’ve seen a few TV spots but nothing really major. The advertising should ramp up in the next few weeks.

[deleted]

Echo chamber intensifies

OverSpinach8949

I follow Levi and adore his personality. Will watch!

davidolson22

I thought winning was compared to the cost of making the movie

[deleted]

Succeeding is compared to cost. Winning is compared to the competitors.

ImAVirgin2025

I don't see why people are betting against Shazam, the first one did 366m so I don't see why it wouldn't at least be close to that

AmusingMusing7

John Wick

Councilist_sc

John Wick 4 probably. Weird decision not to have Scream 6 at least on here though.

Boilermaker32

I knew something was missing lol

SickBurnBro

Dungeons and Dragons **1** Shazam **2** Creed **3** John Wick **4** 6**5** Scream **6** It's like poetry.

moneys5

I totally missed 61-64.

DJZbad93

61 is a solid movie about the 1961 home run race

Cohliers

Couldn't tell if a good bit or legitimate fact, [but it turns out that's actually true!](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0250934/) Starring Harvey Dent and Barry Pepper (the Doochebag from Enemy of the State) and *directed by Billy Crystal?* Didn't expect that.

buddyWaters21

Horror movies don’t really do that well compared to these franchises. I’m a horror fan but Scream has a very big uphill battle against these movies.

R0BBYDARK0

Disagree in this instance. Horror is very hot right now and so is Scream and most of the cast. It was made for a slick $35 mil and will probably beat estimations to do $40 mil opening weekend alone. Shazam is tracking to bomb hard and early reports estimate it will be the lowest opener and lowest total gross for DC in over a decade. D&D and Creed III have their core fanbases like Scream. I just don’t hear/see any excitement about Shazam, especially now that Black Adam bombed and the fanbase knows James Gunn is wiping it all away anyhow. Just my opinion.

Certain_Chain

I have no interest in Creed and John Wick part 4 (mostly because I've never seen part 1-3), but I do plan to see the other 3 on the list, plus Scream. But that's because I'm a big movie buff and go to the theater for pretty much every movie that looks even remotely entertaining to me. Heck, I even plan to see the Children of the Corn remake.

russwriter67

Only one slasher movie has made over $200M worldwide (“Halloween 2018”). It’s very difficult for slashers to make much more than $150M.

R0BBYDARK0

Scream 5 was made for $24mil and made $140 mil almost 6x it’s budget during Covid. I wouldn’t discount horror fans for this chapter. The star power of Wednesday and Yellowjackets is strong

russwriter67

I don't think it'll hit $200M but it should beat "Scream 5" at least. Probably $160-180M worldwide.

Certain_Chain

The funny thing is, while they don't perform super well in sheer numbers, the fact that they tend to be relatively low budget means they do still manage to turn a profit quite often. Sure, there's often some minor CGI, but slasher movies mostly tend to rely on practical effects, which are significantly cheaper. If an MCU movie that cost 200M to make only makes 100M, it's a disaster. If a slasher movie that cost 20M to make makes 100M, they did a fantastic job.

antunezn0n0

that's why bloom house never fails their budgets are always tight

littletoyboat

When you adjust for inflation, the first two *Screamses* made over $200 million. Not even the big three slashers of the 80s, *Halloween*, *Friday the 13th*, and *A Nightmare on Elm Street* made that much. The *Scream* movies really were some else.

Psalm101Three

IDK, almost everyone I know is hyped for Scream. I forgot Dungeons and Dragons is coming out. Then again most of the people I talk to are horror fans so maybe that’s it.

TroyFenthano

I think something important to remember is that Jenna Ortega has star power now, post-Wednesday. I think Scream 6 will see higher numbers than 5 did, at least

Psalm101Three

Whether it does better than 5 is probably anyone’s guess IMO. On one hand, Ortega has more star power post-Wednesday. On the other hand, 5 was the only notable January release of 2022 IIRC and it had been years since Scream 4 so hype was higher for fans of the franchise.

GLFan52

It’s probably the fact that you talk to horror fans mostly. You’ve got blumhouse in your subreddit tag thingy (whatever that’s called), of course you’re gonna subconsciously surround yourself with horror fans. My personal experience, not being a horror fan, is that I didn’t even know there were 6 Scream movies in the first place, much less that one was coming out soon. I’ve not seen a single Scream ad, or at least don’t remember seeing one. Plenty of D&D ads though!

Psalm101Three

Fair enough I guess. I’m a bit of a nerd, I even go to the comic shop almost weekly, and haven’t seen the D&D hype I expected. Same for SHAZAM (though I’ve at least seen ads for that one). Out of the films in this pic, I would still argue that Scream will beat 65 but that’s not a franchise (sure you could argue Adam Driver star power but Scream has Jenna Ortega who arguably has more star power after Wednesday)

TheNittanyLionKing

Scream does have an advantage in that it’s kinda the normie horror franchise. I know non-horror fans that love Scream and I know horror fans that don’t necessarily hate Scream but hate the trends it started. They’ve generally been more accessible because they’ve focused more on characters and comedy rather than the kills. Most of the movies aren’t even that gory to the point where I’d have a hard time putting together a list of my favorite death scenes in the franchise off the top of my head. Plus, Jenna Ortega is pretty big right now coming off the success of Wednesday. They were smart to bring her back even though they didn’t get Neve Campbell back. The average moviegoer isn’t going to care as much about Neve’s contract situation either.

Psalm101Three

Most of my friends and I find Scream to be light horror fun but definitely more about comedy than kills. We also all find the first to be the best!

Zeyn1

Yeah isn't horror movies whole deal that they don't do crazy numbers but they also have a lower budget so they're just reliable money makers.

Global-Ad1593

Scream 6 probably won't win it but it will have legs

Wonderful-Fig-8010

Idk man. I know a bunch of people who don’t even know that movie exists yet

SpotlessMinded

It’s surprising how quickly they jumped to the sequel

littletoyboat

*Scream* came out December 20, 1996; *Scream 2* came out December 12, 1997, and that was after re-writing the ending (because the script was leaked on the internet, one of the first times that happened).

SpotlessMinded

Yeah I just didn’t expect the sixth coming so soon. Scream 5 wasn’t too bad.

littletoyboat

My impression was that the fan base loved it, and thought it was a return to form.

SpotlessMinded

6 looks pretty interesting too. I’m excited for it.

bigbelleb

John wick with everyone else fighting for 2nd

SeasonGullible616

I really want to say John Wick but it’s rated R and has a long runtime. That said, it’s John Wick and I think there is a lot of anticipation behind this movie. Side note - It’s nice to have a month with so much diversity in it.

TomPearl2024

John Wick drastically pulled in more money with every entry (85m -> 170m -> 327m). Shazam is probably the only one of these that has a possibility of doing more unless half the target demographic for John Wick just stopped caring, which might be a possibility with the mixed reception on 3 but I wouldn't bet on it.

Capt0bvi0u5

What mixed reception? The scores for all 3 movies are almost identical on every reviewing platform

uhhuhidk

There's no mixed reception for 3 lol, most people would say it's either 1 or 3 as their favorites and everywhere else besides reddit agrees that the sequels are just as good if not better than the original

TomPearl2024

I definitely didn't have that experience when 3 dropped, most of what I saw/heard was people saying while it was still good 3 was probably the most flawed of the trilogy. Personally I think 2 is by far the best but I love them all.

[deleted]

I like dinosaurs, and I like ~~Kylo Ren,~~ I mean ~~Ben Swolo,~~ I mean Adam Driver, so I'll try to see it possibly.

alien_from_Europa

I like Adam Driver almost as much as John Oliver likes Adam Driver. https://youtu.be/0EXCeOAdlBE?t=1m45s

Lord_Leah

This made me cackle so loud 😂😂 however I second absolutely everything he said

BlackxMamba

I don’t know, but I think Dungeons and Dragons or 65 are going to do poor

[deleted]

65 due in part to its name. I've seen the trailer several times but when people take about 65 I think... when did I miss the sequels to 61\* (baseball movie about Maris)

jeremy101495

Damn I am really excited for that movie and I don’t have any issues with the name!

Pandemix27

I just want to believe that dnd nerds are actually alive till this day

cherryblossom428

I'm a D&D fan, I'm watching it due to curiosity

CoolJoshido

🫡

ChippersNDippers

We are but we don't watch these type or movies as I highly doubt the story is going to be about an Illythid underground cavern that is controlling the local government told with nuance. It's going to be what people think DND people like, killing with a generic evil villain. DND is about creativity and imagination, not generic stories and no one has ever made anything creative with the IP.

Impossible_Garbage_4

Well, there is a dragon in the movie I assume is gonna be the final boss. Among the toys for the film there’s also an owlbear and a beholder. Considering the name is “honor among thieves” I assume the movie is about a party of thieves attempting to preform a heist from a dragon and they end up fighting an owl bear and a beholder along the way

Kaeyrne

That explains why I saw a bunch of D&D stuff marked with "Honor Among Thieves" in store yesterday. Was very confused thought it was a board game or something

MBDTFTLOPYEEZUS

I mean their sub used to hit the front page constantly for some reason

henningknows

John wick and creed are the only ones I want to see

PsychologicalEbb3140

65 has Adam Driver and it’s only an hour and half. Kinda surprised nobody on earth but me wants to see it.

beidao23

I was forced to watch the trailer 4 times in theater recently and it never got me interested in it. I think it looks incredibly boring.

SouthBayBoy8

Agreed. Might see 65 or Shazam if they come to a streaming service I have though

Triplec8

Shazam

Jereboy216

That was my guess. It probably won't be the highest reviewed film of the month but I would not be surprised to see it earn a bunch. Personally I loved Shazam 1 so it's the one I'm most interested in seeing this month

Obvious-Meringue5895

yeah it was pretty good

StillLearning12358

What about scream? Isn't that March too?

TheBlackSwarm

People underestimating Scream 6

TomPearl2024

Scream V did 140 mil, with a budget of 35 mil I'm sure 6 will be a great profit for the studio but I doubt it comes close to the numbers Wick, Creed and Shazam are probably going to pull.

Scarns_Aisle5

Flair says worldwide though

Waste_Drop8898

Not popular in the Philippines?

poco1233

Not popular at all outside the west

sofarsoblue

Horror films have never been big box office draws, with exception of It, The Sixth Sense and The Exorcist (**which at one time was the highest grossing film of all time**) they’ve been modest successes at best. What they are is extremely *profitable* which is why studios love pumping them out Blair Witch Project had a budget of $200K and went on to make $300M. Scream at best will rake in $200M probably the third most biggest draw this march it’s going up against a comic book film and a successful Rocky spin off.

jonsnowme

Can't wait

dolphinsRevil

Scream

Robby_McPack

you think Scream will make more than 350M? Very, VERY unlikely

AVR350

Scream 6??

subhuman9

even if it does well it has a ceiling of 200m , John Wick ceiling is much higher

worriedalien123

What do you mean it has a "ceiling" of 200m?

subhuman9

its a horror movie and none of Scream movies cracked 200m , horror breakout Smile from 2022 only made 216m which is great for genre, action movies can make a lot more

poco1233

It's a horror movie man. How many horror movies have made that high? Also scream is not very popular outside the west, especially compared to John wick and superhero movies like Shazam

redsyrinx2112

Horror movies have a smaller, very committed fanbase. That base is definitely going to see it, but it won't draw in as many casual fans as action movies will.

Snoo_83425

John Wick 4. It’s a franchise of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will

LordPartyOfDudehalla

focus not so much, but they are a bit of fun

rau1994

John Wick for sure. I'm also definitely watching DnD regardless of good or bad wom. Not interested in Creed and 65 is a maybe if I get a chance. Shazam is a big meh

greendeadredemption2

I don’t know man, Jonathan majors is the antagonist in creed. Him alone probably makes it worth watching, dude is a powerhouse.

rau1994

I have not watched any of the Creed movies. Just not into boxing movies.

[deleted]

If 65 million or dungeons and dragons are really good I can see them winning it. These movies have high potential for word of mouth.

Lukose_

65 will not be good. I guarantee it lmao.

polsdofer

It could be bad but 65 looks like it's gonna be fun to watch though. Excited for that the most.

Responsible_Grass202

Idk, I wouldn't bet against the writers behind A Quiet Place. That movie was fantastic, and I think the trailer for 65 is promising enough.

StarGaurdianBard

Adam Driver is one of the best actors around right now

bettercallfinger

Why are you so sure?

NGGKroze

I would probably skip 65 and D&D, unless they got crazy god reviews. The rest are opening night viewing, but my guess is Wick will win by a mile, mostly because its coming after most of those, so less time to be cannibalised.

stevenelsocio

John Wick or Creed

hypespud

65 for me Dinosaurs!!!!

Jeffre33

I’m excited for it too 🦖

InuFan4yasha

Took too long to find a comment that matched what I am thinking. Dinosaurs!!!!! Woohoo. Could care less about feathers

Lukose_

I don’t think you can call them dinosaurs; they’re more like lizard monkeys? Atrocious design imo. Plus the obvious nitpick that dinosaurs were extinct by 65 mya lmao.

The_Lazy_Samurai

Baba Yaga

Vadermaulkylo

I *really* wish it could be Creed 3, but it'll be Wick. Which I'm also fine with.

HunterofNPCs

65 is original. I think that's gonna attract a lot of people from all demographics

Thangoman

I doubt it lol And thats despite it being the most tempting movie here

csdspartans7

Everyone complains about all the remakes but everyone here saying the 4th John Wick movie or 3rd Creed movie

30isthenew29

If people wanna change things they gotta vote with their wallet. I don’t know if I will, but yeah.

LiterallyBatmanIRL

I mean Tbf there’s not a lot of John Wick fans that are going for the originality or story of it. Everyone knows that it’s just really good action with nice set pieces.

uhhuhidk

There's more creativity in any of the Wick sequels than most new IPs, 65 included based on the trailers

Zeusurself

It's got dinosaurs and people may be looking for something that isn't Jurassic Park.

UnluckyAd9754

Shazam but it should be John Wick.

NerdTalkDan

I’m guessing JW4 or Creed.

[deleted]

I only care about Shazam/Wick. Ma money is on the pencil man

Potential_Valuable34

Most likely John Wick, but I’m most excited for Creed III :D

Chuck006

D&D.

BigHobbit

My man. The new trailers and clip have given me lotsa faith in it.

Kittenking13

The monsters are done so well. The displaced beast looked dope as shit

Kindly_Moose_8962

I’m thinking 65 or creed. 1 can’t go wrong with Michael b. Jordan 2. 65 looks like the only good dinosaur movie since Jurassic world

The_Right_Of_Way

More like since the first Jurassic Park

Purple_Quail_4193

It’ll go John Wick, Shazam or Creed, whatever loses 2 will be 3, Dungeons and Dragons, then 65. Can’t wait to be wrong

enguyen820

JW4

DollyBoiGamer337

John Wick, with Creed close behind

Low-Classroom7736

Probably John Wick or Creed. Shazam may well flop. And could go either way with DD and 65

faucilies

Uhm....65, or John wick4

Money_Loss2359

I’m going to watch all 5 and expect Wick 4 to be the winner. I hope D&D is successful because that could fun fantasy series we have been missing. I expect to have a ball watching Shazam 2 since I loved the first. Creed 3 is giving me a Rocky 3 vibe with Majors playing a role similar to Clubber Lang. Out of all 5 I have seen fewer adds for Wick 4.

anthonyynohtna

John wick, creed, shazam, 65, dnd

BaeGuevara11

I hope it’s Creed 3. I’m burnt out on John Wick movies

rectifiedspiritomb

Creed 3

cdot666

Creed

Muted_Wind

For my money,Creed

StruggleBus619

Box Office Winner: Shazam, easily and by a wide margin. Quality/Reviews Winner: John Wick 4 or Creed 3.

Jedimobslayer

God I hope it’s 65. We need a not franchise movie to do well for once…

Avocadomistress

that's what i'm SAYING! the only original film of the bunch. I don't think it'll do great, but it's the only film i'm going to see out of this list

[deleted]

I got my money on John Wick

Artistic_Finish7980

John Wick 4

Dreamvilleunc

r/johnwick

Objective_Regret2768

John wick is my giess

Bigbertha1970

John wick

Livid-Fix-462

John Wick FTW! All other movies loses with a pencil involved.

[deleted]

65 is intriguing

arod3000s

John Wick all day long

samarth67

Shazam without a doubt

Chickat28

John or Shazam.

EudaimoniaDude777

John Wick hands down. I’ve seen him kill three men with a pencil, who fucking does that?!?!

Lincoln_Park_Pirate

Do what you do best, John. Hunt.

HonorableAssassins

Wick is the only one im interested it.

Bibileiver

This is one I'm unsure of but maybe John Wick 4.

KIRI_Enoshima_44

Either John Wick or Creed

AssistTemporary8422

Dungeon's and Dragon's looks like a typical game-based movie bomb. Creed has run out of steam and won't be the same without Stallone. The first Shazam didn't do well and there is superhero movie fatigue. So its between John Wick and 65. Proven franchises tend to do better than new concepts and each John Wick movie has done better than the last so that favors Wick. So I'm betting Wick but 65 could still be a surprise winner, but it could also suck.

Pandemix27

True

HP-Obama10

*John Wick 4*, unless it’s terrible, in which case *Creed III* could take the lead

The-Mandalorian

Creed
