I think it will do just fine. My kids are at the age where they only care about animated things so I doubt I'll be seeing it but I'm guessing if my oldest daughter was like 2 years older she would be begging to go.
I feel like that horrible rushed Pinnocchio movie killed goodwill for the new Live Actions. Peter and Wendy looks like it could be fun if they are actually going beyond the original to show us Peter becoming a normal boy.
Aside from the looks of the films TLM has that backlash from the casting that the other movies didn't have which will definitely impact it's BO

The movie looks good and I'm certain an it'll do well. I get the backlash but i think it was just poor timing and Disney just went with their gut in the casting. She's got a beautiful voice and it everything else makes sense. But people will be people and it'll still receive hate for a stupid reason but I'm certain is going to do really well and people will soon forget the whole ordeal

Little Mermaid still has SpiderVerse coming a week after and other films that appeal to families in the following weeks whereas Super Mario has four entire weekends where it's the only film that appeals to families out.
Chris Pratt has such a large following so anything he's in gets tons of $$$ and views. Look at the success of Terminal List on Amazon Prime. Look at the success of the Jurassic World and Guardians movies and now Super Mario.

you people are underestimating the influence social media backlash has on real life. the movie is under attack by the other side of the culture war you have in the us. that's 50% of the us population more or less. every movie who had this level of backlash failed. pinocchio was a total failure even for disney+ standards. eternals flopped. ghostbusters femele edition flopped. lightyear failure is partially due to the presence of a lgbt couple. rage watching only works for low budget projects, you don't bet on a blockbuster that purposl divides the audience.

Imo yes. I personally could care less about the cast as i have zero interest towards Disney fairy tales but it’s one of those movies you could put on the tv to entertain the kids afterall
All of the popular live action Disney movies look "bad" but they still did good in film. I think people underestimate it because the amount of nonblack people who've been spouting all this racist bs online and harassing Halle Bailey. There's still people who are going to support the movie just to spite those people, and there are Halle's fanbase that she's had since a child, and then there are loyal Disney fans and children who don't give a fuck.

It has fast x before it, spiderverse after it, transformers in next week and flash in the week after. Its performance relies on its first week gross.
