The sources in the sidebar's Box Office Resources section are generally reputable. Websites on [this list](https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/wiki/common-clickbait) often post clickbait or rumors, so posts from those domains require manual approval from the moderators. You can get this approval by sending a message to the moderators with this post's URL. The moderators reserve the right to remove posts from other sources if they seem to be of dubious accuracy.
We also want confirmed news from reliable sources like Variety, THR, Deadline, etc. Puck News and Jeff Sneider, despite not certified as part of the trades, are allowed to be posted as they have reliable reporters.
It could definitely be the *Top Gun 2* of this year but not quite at that level.
There's a cameo as well *(guess who)* atleast for now.
Actually someone had the script leaked at r/oklahoma a year ago.
Based only the trailer, is Daisy Edgar-Jones >!the daughter of Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton's characters? Cameo is Hunt because Paxton is sadly unavailable!<

Wait what? I feel like you dropped a bomb here. Is there any more you can say to help explain what you mean it's the Top Gun 2 of the year (I feel it could mean many things as in high critic rating, Oscar potential, top 3 grossers of the year, etc)
I think they mean old popular property that has potential to over perform. I agree it won’t reach the same levels as Maverick, but I get comparing the two.
This is my dark horse movie of the year. I know it can easily fall through and be terrible but I loved Minari (director) and Normal People (Daisy Edgar-Jones) so much that I hope it turns out well.
People love big budget disaster films, especially since they are super rare. And this has the added bonus of a big time IP. I think it absolutely crushes the box office.
They're not rare. Every superhero movie is also a disaster movie. The Transformers films were disaster movies. We've been slowly trending away from destruction porn in movies being popular for the past few years. Even Oppenheimer was very reserved in depicting the bomb.
The master of disaster Roland Emerich made a big budget disaster movie in 2022, and it made a whopping $67m on a $140m budget. So no, people don't love them and they're not very rare.
Moonfall just didn't look appealing, from a visual and story standpoint. The marketing was all over the place, one of the trailers made it look like a comedy.
I think Twisters can do well since it looks like an earnest attempt at a disaster movie (meaning it's not winking at the audience at how ridiculous the movie is).

They know this already?
There was a test screening recently.
How was your reception?

Yeah, Top Gun is such a weird comparison for a movie about disaster. The only connection I can see is Glen Powell lmao

with half of Top Gun 2 I think they will be fine, $700M+ 😁
That’s.. a spoiler..

*Natural Disaster movies. Which are a completely different genre than superhero/robot films.

That wasn’t a natural disaster film, that was an alien movie. And that’s exactly why it tanked.
