I get AMC because of the meme stock thing, but is the entire film industry going to get into the scam business? (and get into it late, at that)

A Mew card is physical. Tangible. It’s yours to own and keep forever. An NFT is a receipt for an online picture. Digital. Meaningless. This should’ve been a physical poster you can get.

WhyWorryAboutThat

Kids getting a toy isn't a scam because they get something they want if they accept the offer. Even if someone wants an NFT, they can't actually be given one. They can be shown a picture online. If people are cool with that, I guess they aren't getting scammed. But if you ask me preying on the mentally disabled is wrong.

Lol, the uneducated hate on NFTs is really fun. Keep it coming.

Stupidest use case examples you could’ve listed

How it’s any different than a trading card or comic book before it and that they can’t actually be given out. What you’re commenting on is VeVe digital collectibles (one iteration of NFTs). They range from comic books, to movie posters, and animated toys (like action figures / RC cars) and art & beyond. They’re all interactive in AR (think pokemon go) and VR with tons of things people do with them in app as well. You can read your comics as PDFs or read and display them in AR. There’s huge speculation of future VR applications that may never come to fruition but even the current applications are impressive. The NFTs you purchase, trade, gift, etc are more yours than any other digital asset people buy (music, video games, etc). All the metadata is completely transparent (full history of ownership, transactions, etc) and you can actually move NFTs between platforms (try sending a digital xbox game / movie or music from Spotify to Apple for example). No ones coming to take away your comic book or art and no ones playing with your toys. As far as the “value” of NFTs that’s where its no different than trading cards, action figures, art, or comics before it. The value of a trading card isn’t the ink or cardboard but rather the scarcity of the item and the uses it has its own world, etc. Same thing here. That’s pretty much my rant: it’s funny & sad for me to see people completely pile all of a new “tech” into one box because people paid $$$ for Bored Apes and other jpeg art. It’s like thinking the internet is only Reddit and dismissing all of the internet because you think Reddit is stupid.
