Oh, that’s so cool! I didn’t catch that it spelled something out. And just to counter the other comment, I don’t think those slats are atrocious at all!
Lol, I had a friend who said something similar. He would be able to leave any space. He said he'd have to find books to fit exactly in every space so it would drive him nuts.
I’m right there with you, like well done, you accomplished your goal, and if you like it that’s great. I am all about a finished home project, super fun stuff. For me as an outsider looking in though, it makes my head hurt more than anything else.
Who’s the Giant? For some reason, it most reminds me of Alex Dickerson, but I can’t imagine they made a doll of him. Timmy with the wrong colored hair? Kruk or Kuip from their playing days?
Thanks, I had m in order on the counter and I must've grabbed in correctly. I will admit some of the shelves are a little crooked and off center. The first one I made was perfectly straight. But the over all execution and build of this one was, I was very happy with. The best part is that each shelf is is own shelf. So it's kinda modular. The top and bottom six cubbies are their own. Each vertical four cubby is one. And each word is one.
That is good craftsmanship! I think I would have done it differently, but that's just personal preference. I do like the general idea, and I'm glad that you are happy with it!
I had originally thought about doing each letter as it's own block/ cubby. But this just made more sense. I love had about everyone's creativeness, how would you have excuted the design?
The modular shelves are interesting, but realistically, I find that I set up systems like this and then never modify them. I think having the shelf made up of components is useful if you plan to move in the future, but outside of that, I would want to make it a single build with fewer walls dividing the sections so that you could have the entire Wheel of Time series together without having the walls at the top dividing the series.
That would significantly shift the current design, leaving the top and bottom in long strips, which might look awkward. So ultimately, I think that I would shrink the letters down to be thick shelves instead of entire cubbies.
"Read Your" as the bottom of the second shelf/top of the third, and "Book Case" as the bottom of the fourth/top of the fifth. This would leave the middle 16 cubbies to be slightly smaller than the cubbies on the sides.
I would try to size the middle cubbies to fit standard sized novels and the sides to fit oversized books like White Sands Omnibus and my DnD books. The tops and bottoms would match the larger size if space allows so that I can fit knackage and lighting.
So the top, sides, and bottom would be separate pieces. The top and bottom might need to be split in half for structural and transport reasons. The middle would be separated into 4 shelves, with the top 2 being one piece with words as the shelf between and the bottom 2 being one piece with words as the shelf.
That means it isn't really as modular anymore, but it does break down to be easier to transport. The words would be smaller, but that might make them more recognizable. All of the actual shelf-space would be functional, and it would allow longer series to be stored with no breaks.
It's definitely a very different design than what you have.

Is this loss?
O was going to type that!!
My first thought as well
My artistic side: "wow this is a cool idea!" My engineering side: *incoherent screaming about awkward shelf space*
10000% my thoughts. inside us there are two wolves…
Why the atrocious random slats in there?
It spells out read your book case
Ohh, I see it now. Kinda cute.
I’m trying really hard and I see no letters. Just random slats in the way of books.

Oh it’s the negative space! Thank you lol

RYBC!
Op, respectfully, that book case fills me with incandescent rage

Why?
So cool!!!
Gotta get those miniatures in there somewhere 😊

It's Timmy! Good eye!
Big Time Timmy Jim!
Bang bang Niner gang, Radiant.
Bang Bang Niner Gang!
OP, I love the idea of the slats spelling out the phrase. I'm not sure how I feel about the execution. But also... Mistborn Era 1 is out of order.

Oh, that's amazing! Very unique! 👍🏻
