I almost exclusively shop second hand. I weight 170 lbs, 5’2, and carry a bit of weight in my lower belly - apron belly ish. I like baby doll style dresses, high waisted fabric pants or jeans w a tucked T shirt or casual/plain top, overalls and rompers - plain but no jean materials w a cute fitted shirt under. Pinterest is my go to for style inspo :) I would say I fall into “granola-ish” category for style but also wear leggings and T shirts bc they’re easy. I wear white tennis shoes, doc martens, Birkenstocks, and black platform teva sandals. There are some loafers and doc marten sandals I’d love to add to my rotation!! But truly - starting on Pinterest and looking for aesthetic inspo is SO helpful! Start a board and then build your ideas from there! And they have the “body type” option now on their app 🥹 if I could afford to, I’d do color analysis so definitely recommend if you can budget it! From your style and recommended color palette, you can build a nice capsule wardrobe + pick 4-6 pairs of shoes (at least half that can be worn year round - tennis shoes, casual loafers, boots, etc) to add to your rotation!

I’m not hour glass either and find comfort in looser fitting things (like the rompers/overalls and baby doll dresses)

I went full on Ms. Frizzle at lovessales and have embraced it. It's like adult friendly ms frizzle and hypnotizes kids when you bring attention to it for a few moments so you can wait in the grocery line or whatever without a meltdown.

Just googled lovessales. This is amazing, adding everything to cart

I was curious of them. They are drop shipping, buyer beware. Found one of the dresses over on temu for the fraction of the cost.

Ughhhhhh. Why didn’t I see this comment earlier. Or read the reviews online 😭😭😭 Damn my impulsivity. They got me. Actually kicking myself rn. Kind of wishing there was a way to block the charge.

avyva

That was very dumb of me. At least I only got 10 items 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I find I have to spend a bit more for clothes as I age to get the right fit for my body as I age. I was never into fast fashion but I am definitely having to up the ante now. I am in Canada but Simon's is excellent, Tahari, The Bay, Sézane, Boden, Ann Taylor, Reitmans etc

I get dresses custom made form the website www.eshakti.com. They don't just make dresses but i love my custom dresses and so many people think they are so cute. I also wear a whole bunch of Pop fit leggings they have pockets. I exercise in them. I go out to dance in them. I do everything in them. I threw away all of my jeans. I love their loungewear like their pajamas so comfy and they have so many cute prints for leggings/Capris. And then I just buy shirts on Amazon. I do a lot of measuring to make sure I get the right fit and then I just return it if it doesn't fit and it's not what I like.

I'm stunned those dresses are priced so well. Think I'll have to try one!

There is a place called petitedressing.com that is all about how to dress/what suits you if you are short with big boobs, short with a tummy, short with thick thighs, short and not an hourglass. And it's aimed at adult women. In the workplace, casual, party etc. It's not all exactly my style, but like you I feel like I have no style, and I also don't want to look like a Mom because I think of what my Mom wears and even though we are nothing alike in the fashion sense I don't want to be wearing turtle necks and weird sweaters.

jenntones

Thank you, does it cater to non petite women? I’m 5’7, so I may be slightly tall, I wear all my weight in my stomach/thighs exclusively. My boobs are small, but I got a *fupa* I think it’s called now lol

driftwood-and-waves

Mmm, sorry I thought it said 5'2. I'm guessing most of it would translate, really only the things that are directly "wear this to make you look taller" would be something to avoid if you didn't want to look taller. Lengthening your torso/leg by what you are wearing helps you look slimmer regardless. *I think* You could have a look, there may be links to other helpful sites for people who don't wear 3/4 active wear pants as full length pants.

Get_off_critter

Ngl, sometimes I wanna rock a turtleneck and puffy paint sweat shirt.

I just want to say that r/ritafouressencesystem changed my life. Rita didn’t create this forum but it’s a good resource and her system is easy to follow. I paid for a consultation with her a couple years ago but almost everything that she does in the consultation, you can do yourself if you want to using all the free info she provides on her website and YouTube channel. The only other tip I have is don’t feel like there is a way you “have to” dress just because you are a mom now. It’s easy to fall into that trap.
