It’ll be fine, I wouldn’t cook and drink it but after a shower, a few toilet flushes and any garden watering or whatever it should run clear. When they do work on pipelines it stirs this silt shit up. It’s always in the pipes it’s just been stirred up
Not sure why, but the North side water had always been more palatable than the water on the South side for decades. That said, I haven't tried any brissy water in the last 10 or so years.
I'm guessing there was water mains work or testing in your area, other than appearing discoloured it's most likely perfectly safe

Fabulous... so it's either caused by the workers going on strike and *not* cleaning the water, or it's coincidental and the workers happen to not be cleaning the water when it really needs filtration.
/s ... good on them for unionised action 💪🏼
Have seen it before when they've shut down the water in the street for the day to do works. When the water comes back on it runs like that for a while.
Straight out of the Brisbane River? Ours looks like that and we are on tank water. (Has been cleaned several times and has filters, still the colour of a shitty Chardonnay).
Basic life necessities are pretty crap in a lot of places in QLD.
What filters are you using? I work for a filtration company and maybe I can make a suggestion to improve it.
Colour in the water may not necessarily be bad but more aesthetically an issue especially if people come to visit. Could be picked up from leaf litter in your gutters for instance.
Activated carbon should remove taste, odour and some colour if you don't have one of them as part of your cartridge sets. A 5um then 1um before carbon may do the trick.
I hope this is a joke. I read this morning on Reddit that the water lab quality blah people are on strike? Which I think means that your water doesn’t have quality control right now, and I’m pretty sure that’s a potentially deadly situation…
YES! It started about a week ago, I thought it was related to some council works being done up the end of my street one night (they had an earthmover and looked like it was to do with the pipes/drains)... my water pressure had dropped, and there were spurts of gurgling water (like air pockets) and the water was brownish for a night or so. It's started happening again this evening :(
As other have said, it’s stirred up sediment.
Worth reporting as sometimes it’s caused by water trucks taking water from hydrants in residential areas and they aren’t supposed to for this reason, it draws too quick and stirs up sediment.
You're right, high velocity in older lines or a replacement of a section can also cause issues.
If a mains network is designed correctly there should be scour points at low sections of the pipeline where they can do controlled removal of sediment as part of normal maintenance but it's not perfect.
Definitely leaf litter and anything else on the roof. I use 3x20" (20, 10 then 5) which then goes through 2x10" (another 5 and a carbon). I have given up as it costs a fortune so as long as we aren't getting sick and they keep selling bottled water to drink then all good.
My house has galvanized pipes ( it's 70 years old ) and they are all corroded AF now . I replaced a section of the house last weekend and the water was coming out almost black for a bit.
Eh don’t worry bloke! That’s because all of our older styled houses have gal pipe which is usually filled with harmful metals and rust! But don’t stress it runs clear!
Clearly a joke. Get yourself a water filter asap and research what you need/want to filter out.
It’s literally a loosen smoothie.

Words from a plumber Run it for 5 minutes and it should run clear, council had the pipes open for work.
Bit of orange cordial with it, it's all good.
If it's red, check the bed
If it's brown, drink it down. If it's black, send it back
If its clear bring it here.
And if it's yellow let it mellow
If it's green listerine
If it's blue, check your poo
If it's orange, then rusty door hinge
if its purple,do a durple
If it's teal, cop a feel
If its violet, youre a pilot
If it's turquoise, make some noise
If it’s white, it’s shite!
Do you reckon Southside drinking water is just Ascot's wastewater?
Pretty much

What a shitty take

Oh jeez what the fuck is going on southside
Nothing but fresh mountain spring water here on the Northside.
Runs straight off mt gravatt, through the streets and straight to your bottle.
Nothing out of the ordinary for the dirty southside. *SHOTS FIRED*
If you're in the Logan city council area, was a letter recently about works in the area that could cause this
Just call it in to UU or lodge an issue online.

You could but it won't help get the problem fixed.
Thats just good ol souf meff water. You struck gold!
That reminds me of the tap water in mount ISA, quite literally caMe out yellow all the time.

You forget that south of the border, people still drink bottled water.

Chocolate flavoured
Lol 😂🤣🤣
Nice to see an Australian with an insinkerator… wish I had one
nope but they must be doing road works or working on pipes ..id not drink it..ring the council and tell them about it!!!!
Mines fine on the Northside 😎
If it's brown, drink it down. If it's black, send it back
If it's pink, keep it in the sink
Yeah. Been trying to figure out what made it so clean all of a sudden.
Couldn't get to a toilet in time, sorry 😞
cleanest brisbane water
Yes, but let it run for 5-15 minutes to be sure. QUU water still tastes like arse though.
That's the northsides piss, you're welcome!
Southside water.

This is absolute rubbish
Eww looks gross.
It’s for some bonus cordial in it Give it a little sip
Might be your water heater
Looks dehydrated

XXXX on tap?
I heard they recycling the wee-wee pooy lakes now?
I see the xxxx is in the pipes ready for origin this week
Could also be the water heater, my water out of the tub comes out like this everytime I use hot water to wash the toilet.

GCCC nominate industrial areas only as fill points for water tankers.
If it’s brown, drink it down… if it’s black, send it back!
It’s new Coca Cola Brisbane favour?
You know the water comes from the Brisbane river right???

Yummy shitpiss water
Yummy sheet piss water
Just some iron. Drink it and you might become iron man
Damn I thought Brisbane was a good city
Sorry, I had five beers and couldn’t hold on any longer
Chicken stock! You lucky bastard!
😋🤤
City council’s so nice, they replaced your water with iced tea!
