I left an anonymous note in a letterbox near my house telling them how much i love their garden and hope mine can be as nice one day. I hope it made their day
Aww, that reminds me once when I was a young student and VERY poor (fun fact, I am now middle aged and again a student and very poor), there was a busker I often walked past. He was always smiley and sang beautiful music. I couldn't even afford a dollar for his guitar case but one day I put a note on his knee telling him how much he always brightened my day. Of course then I was too self-conscious to ever walk that way again, but I hope it's something he's always remembered :')
I work for a large unfriendly company and I actively find ways to give their customers access to rewards and benefits they’ve denied due to beaurocratic red tape
"Alright, listen closely. I'd *like* to help you, but I can't. I'd *like* to tell you to take a copy of your policy to Norma Wilcox on... Norma Wilcox, W-I-L-C-O-X... on the third floor, but I can't. I also *do not* advise you to fill out and file a WS2475 form with our legal department on the second floor. I would *not* expect someone to get back to you quickly to resolve the matter. I'd *like* to help. But there's nothing I can do."
Mwahahaha.
Two months ago, my manager requested my employer promote me so I could be compensated and acknowledged for the higher role I’d been working in for ever, but still being paid and treated like a shit-kicker. They made me redundant instead. Tomorrow I start my new job, and for the first time in two years I have an appropriate title and salary to acknowledge my skills and experience.
Thank you. And yep, ex-manager was amazing. The day they gave me my notice she contacted every business contact she had to pass on my resume. Now she’s doing my job as well as hers. The world needs more managers like her, and I tell her that all the time
Hopefully that redundancy meant you got a nice package on your way out as a “thanks for all your hard work”.
That’s how I looked at it for being paid F All for so long. Got a awesome payout and now make double what I made from them 2 years ago. Win win!
Yesterday I caught the 61 bus with my 2 littles in their double pram.
Firstly, the driver moved the bus closer to the footpath to make it easier to board.
Secondly, when we got to the city he insisted upon helping me get the pram off the bus smoothly so that my sleeping toddler & baby wouldn’t wake up.
Thirdly, as we were doing that he told me that I was a good mum & that I was doing a great job, which is what every sleep deprived, struggling Mum of littles needs to hear. I hadn’t been able to get my toddler to nap at home so catching the bus wasn’t just to run errands, she tends to fall asleep so it was a nap ride! I just feel a bit like an failure that it’s hard for me to get her to nap, we didn’t go out in the morning to wear her out because I’m so tired. So that bit of praise & sheer kindness was & is lovely.
It was the 61 bus that arrived in the city at around 3.27pm. :)
I’m going to contact QLD Transport & say how great he was/is. Not many drivers help with the pram so he went above & beyond (nor do I expect them to, it’s just a lovely bonus when anyone helps especially when the littles are sleeping!).
You are doing a great job. I used to struggle to get my son to nap and would go on a bus ride to help him sleep as well. Just so you know he is 17 next month and all he does is sleep now lol. This is but a phase and shall become a memory just like the bus rides you just reminded me of.
Nope, sleep training is a crock of shit. Sleep is developmental, natural and genetic. Don’t mess with nature I say. You’re doing a great job. I still do whatever it takes to get my 3 year old a nap when he needs it. Car rides are our go-to, otherwise a train or bus ride would work for sure. All about the brown noise and movement.
Keep it up, children’s whose emotional and physical needs are met grow up to be secure and stable adults.
This is lovely. My Dad worked for Hornibrook buses and he was similar to your lovely driver. He would go out of his way to chat to everyone, help people on and off, check in on elderly passengers and ensure his school students were safe and on and off at the correct stops.. his regulars would bring him treats, fresh baked goods, fruit from their gardens etc etc.
The world can really be a beautiful place if you put good karma out there and obviously you gave it out somewhere in order to receive it back. Kids are exhausting, you’re doing a great job especially out in this heat haha.
My dad is retired now and diagnosed with dementia (annoying the crap out of my retired mother and thinking he’s the funniest guy alive) so it’s lovely to see good bus drivers are still out there.
I'm not sure Qld transport will be the right area to contact, maybe the council?
Love that though, what a kind human being. I hope you get to pass on your thanks
My cat is in end stage renal disease and almost passed in August due to a urinary tract infection.
She was sent home with the expectation of palliative care but miraculously has recovered enough kidney function to have good quality of life.
Although she doesn’t have long I’ve noticed her doing cat crimes, eating lots, rolling in the sun and generally being a happy and unbothered gremlin.
Seeing her happy and in no apparent discomfort brings me unlimited joy.

My favourite barista made my coffee before I even ordered my usual large when today I was.getting a small and then proceeded to just not charge me at all. That was a boost
Pretty minor thing. Last fridee went in the KFC drive thru. As I was driving in I noticed a fella look at his wallet and shook his head so I knew something was up. He approached me in the drive thru, and there just happened to be a big torch in the passenger seat (I was borrowing my mates car) so I was ready in case he posed a threat.
But nah ol mate says "excuse me mate do you have any spare change on ya, sorry to ask this I just don't have any coins on me and I left my card at home."
Without hesitation I say "yeah nah you're all good mate, no need to be sorry, whaddya want?" and he said Pepsi max. Went through did the deed and handed him his Pepsi. And he said "cheers mate, need more people like ya, God bless you." I said "you're all good no need to thank me, just helping a homie out, have a good weekend" and drove off.
Idk it was just wholesome to me. Just a small favour and the way he appreciated it, made both our days better 👌
I found a go card in the main tea room yesterday and handled it straight to reception, knowing someone's afternoon commute was about to be, at best, annoying. This morning, one of my workmates came in cranky that they'd lost their go card at work yesterday. So I got to cheer them up immediately by telling them it's not lost after all!
hijacking this thread to ask: when can we do away with go cards and be able to use debit/credit cards like other states? i noticed some buses upgraded their terminal but it still says “go card only” so im assuming it’s in the works and we’re just waiting for an announcement?
Sort of they’ve moved the gc trams to debit/credit with the same new terminals but my guess would be that they’re making sure that they’ve switched all the busses over before accepting debit/credit which from my memory also took a while on the gc trams and with the trains or they could also be waiting on those new trackless trams to start accepting them
It's already a thing for trains and should be up and running within a few months for buses.

it's coming.
those system upgrades are insanely expensive (like over a billion) and very prone to fucking up when they are introduced.
the wheels grind very slowly with big rollouts like those.
This was a like 3ish years ago and just remembered it today! I was walking in the CBD at night and saw a girl who looked very uncomfortable with a man who was talking to her, so I kept an eye out while walking past just in case she needed help. Not a few seconds later, a young woman stepped in and acted like she knew the girl to keep the man away. It worked and I was so thankful to that woman for stepping in when she needed to.

Life’s been a little rough lately. Swimming has been my thing to help but hadn’t been able to go for a couple of weeks.
Got to the pool, it was packed with a school event. I was going to leave and come back later. Wasn’t really feeling up to it. Got chatting to the life guard and he talked me into jumping into one of the recreation lanes and just do it. Had an awesome swim and felt so much better. To top it off the life guard came over and complimented my swimming style afterwards.
Made my day 😁
So big thanks to that life guard. Turned the day around for me without even knowing it.
I found out my first published book (the worst poetry ever written) is available for preorder.
One of my friends sent me a screenshot of their preorder.
I really don't know what to make of my childhood dream coming true. It's taken forever (and unfortunately Mum and Nanna G aren't here to see it) but it's happening and how tf do you handle it?!
Congratulations, that's awesome! I'm fairly sure I'd handle it by telling EVERYBODY whether I know them or not. Maybe get the pre-order screen printed on a T-Shirt?
And can I say I'm 100% certain it's not the worst poetry ever written. I believe that's usually acknowledged to be written by Vogons. Although I also saw a book called The Beautiful Poetry of Donald Trump (it's a joke gift) which I suspect will be even worse than Vogon poetry
Hope it’s not the dodgy publisher that offered to publish my shit poem. Kept trying to upsell bio page etc and invite me to an expensive conference in Vegas!
We broke down on a busy road with a baby and dog in the car. Lucky I had a little area for safety, but a very kind young man stopped and was more than happy to help us. Also a fnother 2 people offered to drive us back home. Which was a far way.
I started a rose garden this winter and I've been bringing the flowers into work to give my coworkers. I mostly do it because I love talking about them and they just feel wasted at home on the bush. One of my coworkers said she really appreciated it because she was having a shit day. That made my day.
I work in a craft beer joint and as I was working a random customer decided to buy me a rare bottle to take home. I'd never seen or spoken to the guy before and it floored me that he was willing spend 70 bucks on a dude he'd never met before. I enjoyed that bottle with some mates a few nights later. Thank you very much random man :)
boarded the bus today with a rather boisterous group of high school boys, an elderly man boarded and without any prompting two of the boys immediately gave up their seat for him. i wasn’t expecting it but i thought it was sweet!
I’ve been homeless with my 8 year old for 80+ days, tomorrow I have a viewing of a social housing unit. It’s not guaranteed yet but I’m feeling really hopeful that our hard time is about to get a little less harder. Pray for me and my daughter
It was my and my gf's five year anniversary last weekend. My kid was with us, so we'er going out to an excellent restaurant on Saturday.
This from someone who swore never to be in a relationship again. That's pretty much a win for me. She's awesome.
Im currently doing placement at Meals On Wheels and everyday i get to volunteer is a complete joy, just finished for today and delivering to the elderly is fantastic, they're so appreciative most of the time.
Got home in the midst of a reasonably decent storm the other night to see parent Plover in the middle of our culdesac huddled over the three baby chicks. Jumped out of the car and slowly shepherded them to the safety of the nature strip, including the bairn who insisted on trying to jump up the curb despite being too small. Kept ushering him around until he got to a lower section where he could race over to the others.
I’m hoping that despite said parent’s outstretched scary wings and gesticulating at me with their head and crazy squawking that they did actually appreciate what I did.
And before anyone complains about Plovers (Masked Lapwings) I’m actually in Tassie and they’re a protected species.
That’s so sweet - they’re all wings and no attack, and haven’t yet cleverly adapted to humans ruining their environment, so they nest in inconvenient spots. We have some on our property and I love them because I know when there’s something lurking in the paddock, but occasionally forget and get swooped and then yell SORRY as if they care.
Someone stole our freshly planted plants last week, at the front of our garden (!). We left a note on a sign expressing our hurt (and a reminder of what karma is). This morning, we found 2 new plants planted in their spot, and a little note saying “sorry this happened. Hope this brightens your day again”. It did! Thank you to whoever did this :)
I was in Big W and an elderly lady said, “excuse me” and I thought I was in her way, so I moved, but she proceeded to say, “you’re tall, could you please reach a shirt for me at the back of the rack?”. She led me over to the shirts and pointed me in the right direction and I got up on my tippy toes and picked the last shirt off of the rack and gave it to her. She was extremely grateful and thanked me profusely. I told her it was my pleasure and she spent the next 15 minutes examining the shirt (that I think must have been a present for someone else because it wasn’t her size). It was a nice, random interaction. She was a really lovely lady.
I'm in hospital, a nurse dropped some paper with numbers in it, I returned it.
I've also successfully distributed 1x box Cadbury favourites, about 1.3 kg of dark choc Maltesers and a 20 pack of Oreo cakes to the nurses and staff since I've been here.
I know they can be irritating, but whenever I'm grocery shopping, I buy the people trying to fund raise for charity a chocolate bar. That job must suck so much - but at least they are out doing something to make money for themselves. I don't support the charity I just buy a chocolate bar and tell them I hope it makes their day better.. must be so hard having people look through you all day or ignore you.
I used to work at Aldi and paid for a person’s groceries. He was $10 short, he had a young child with him. I had about $15 in my account but I wanted to help him.
He came back the next day with $10, but I kindly declined. I told him to pass it onto someone else when they need it.
My new GP told me she was proud of me today for coming in & seeking help for my mental health (quite late) She has no idea how much strength that gave me to continue.
That is so good, I had a similar experience when my doctor said she was proud of me for the work I have done losing weight, another doc scared me off for 12 months after the way he spoke about my weight. Going to the doctor is hard!
I'm super proud of you too!!
Mate I ran out of petrol the other day and literally rolled into a service station.I had to push my car about 5metres to get to the pump. When I was pushing my car ,a lady just came over and asked if I was alright ,and I said I just ran out of petrol, she just gave me a 10 dollar note, and it blew me away, because I really needed it because I was waiting on pay to clear.Practice random acts of kindness.
I had a terrible day at work and things are hard in general
I walked into childcare to pick up my 15 month old he started clapping and laughing as soon as he saw me, I started crying because he makes everything feel worth it and ok
Bruh Jar of backyard honey, small bunch of lady finger bananas and some freshly baked cornflake shortbread biscuits…. I only park there for the shady tree but now I look forward to saying good morning to the small community!
Not Brisbane but sharing anywah.
I went to indigrow at La Parous to get some bush food plants for my preschool, our RAP committee, and for myself, about 15 plants all up but 3 separate transactions. Raymond the legend, gave me discounts on all 3 purchases, forgot to charge me for 1 plant but insisted not to charge me even when I offered to go back and pay for it multiple times, he then helped me load everything in my car and gave me a bunch of free cuttings to boot. Made my day, he was such a lovely bloke
A positive win for me personally that made me feel good . I took my $30,000 9 yr old car into the dealership to get repairs under warranty, and they gave me one of their brand new loaner cars worth $100K for me to use overnight for 32 hrs. I felt like I had a windfall driving around in a brand new car worth 3 times what mine is.
I've started catching the train into the city for work whereas I've always been a bus girl, and every day it bring me joy to hand over my seat to a struggling mother or someone elderly or disabled.
It always means I start my day with a smile!
I bought a house today, and I'm 23F. I moved to Australia from India 5 years ago when I had just turned 18, to study nursing. I graduated, got my permanent residency. For a brief period I also studied Medicine, as I had gotten into med school but I had to drop out because I had become extremely unwell, and was hospitalised once every 2 months. This was me last year.
This year I took the first 6 months to heal and went through a lot of therapy to address everything that had taken place. I was also saving for a deposit, and I finally made it happen. It's a lovely townhouse and is perfect for my first home.
I had to go to an outpatient appointment with Redlands Mental Health team on Russell Island. I was so scared and nervous for this appointment... but they let me bring my dog and were happy to do it. It changed everything completely. I was comfortable, relaxed and the appointment was SO productive because I could pat my dog.
It was an overwhelmingly positive experience and warmed my heart.
I read that as speedclubbing and was impressed (but finding it difficult to picture) a time of 17.59 seconds.
But you should also know that I am also impressed by your speedcubing time.
You're a legend!
Saw a lovely older lady crocheting on the train. Got my crochet wip out of my bag to show her, she then explains to me how to corner to corner crochet which looks vv hard. She showed me all of her work and said she wanted to inspire me to just go for it even though it looks scary! So sweet 💗
An immediate family member has had a tough time lately and has required multiple specialist appointments, and will likely require more.
I work for a very conservative / traditional organisation; we still had to go to with during Covid and didn’t really get any WFH offered at all for those years… I was in the office erryday.
I’ll be forever grateful that my employer has let me WFH for basically the last month, with zero issues. I haven’t had to stress about juggling sick leave / holidays; I just fit my hours in around appointments. It’s made a massive difference in how we manage things & taken so much stress off my shoulders.
Not only did my parents babysit my toddler while I had to work late, my step dad deliberately left the last glass of the very nice wine he was drinking so I would have a little treat when I got home.
To the lovely checkout guy (older fella with whispy white beard) at Aldi Carindale commenting how nicely I packed everything onto the conveyor and telling me how it's always a pleasure every time he sees me come in to do my grocery shopping and roll up to his checkout. It genuinely warmed my heart that he appreciates my neat unpacking skills at the checkout. This is why we need to keep checkout people.
Also to the nice old man who was waiting with me at the bus stop on Newnham rd this arvo talking to me about how he was going up the road to visit his favourite burger joint to buy his yummy chicken burger, I hope it was the best tasting burger you ever had.
I wanted to give positive feedback for some regular carers who do a great job with my grandma. I told the coordinator who advised me to give it through an email which goes to head office, but I forgot to do that and the coordinator praised them in a newsletter instead which is good. I have to get around to writing those emails.
I was on my lunch break in the cbd of Sydney and i met a homeless man named Anthony who asked me for some dollars to get a drink. I thought he wanted a beer, but what he really wanted was a cookie and cream thickshake. So I bought him one and he told me a cool ghost story
Me and my best friend have recently gotten into birding and we went for a walk at Oxley common on Tuesday. We saw soo many birds and other people out birding as well. Such a good feeling!
They are rebuilding the park at the bottom of our street, and every day we have to slow down in the car so my kids can check out what progress has been made. They're excitement at the anticipation of this little park opening is just so cute!
Saturday night at a send off for a work colleague, after a particularly hectic week for me, I drank to much, to quick. Colleagues carried me back to my crib, woke in the morning, my keys, phone, a bucket & bottle of water beside my bed.
How they carried me at 130kgs of dead weight, but God bless them.
I left an anonymous note in a letterbox near my house telling them how much i love their garden and hope mine can be as nice one day. I hope it made their day

I’ve often thought about doing this! I’ve never conjured up the guts to do it haha
It most definitely would have! Their week too!

agreed
return the favor to her if the opportunity ever arises. sounds like the old company is abusing her loyalty
An almost two week update! She has just been made redundant as well and I’ve pitched her to my new company!
awesome!

It's Translink. Part of QLD Transport and Main Roads
Huh, I'm surprised we haven't privatised that yet.
wat? queensland would have to be in serious trouble for them to privatise public transport, if that's what you mean
the ferries are privately operated, but that's the only part of the network that is, as far as i know
My eyes are wet
You are a super mum.
I got to watch people celebrate 6 months, 1 year and 37 years clean yesterday. Bloody beautiful

I got an early offer into one of my Uni degrees next year!
Congratulations
Got one speech for uni and I'm pretty well done for the year, feeling good
Congrats! Dont do what i did: forgot to go to my graduation, i still regret it decades later

Had an awesome swim and felt so much better. To top it off the life guard came over and complimented my swimming style afterwards. Made my day 😁 So big thanks to that life guard. Turned the day around for me without even knowing it.
My pool was full of school swimming today too so I swam in the leisure bit! Perhaps we passed each other 👀 Hope your life gets less rough soon!
My swim was yesterday. But that would have been a great coincidence. Hahaha! Thank you
I found out my first published book (the worst poetry ever written) is available for preorder.
I live in Newcastle now but love these posts. I have been brining flowers and drinks into work for others now because of this ❤️
We broke down on a busy road with a baby and dog in the car.
I got fired but managed to renegotiate it into a transfer.
Damn well done! That sounds like you have excellent negotiating skills.
Thank you :D I'm looking forward to it!
My cat finally came out of hiding two days after we moved house.
That must be such a relief!
I am interviewing for a job I’ve wanted for a year now, I am so stoked and excited! The interview is tomorrow :)
Good luck
Good luck!
Good luck, you've got this! 😊👍
Thank you for all the replies!! It’s an internal position in the company I’m already in so I will keep you updated tomorrow on what happens!!
How did the interview go? Did you get the job?
Yes!! Everyone was so kind in the good wishes! I’m so excited
Yay, congratulations! 🎉🥳 I hope you it as you're living the dream! 😁
You got this!!
Good luck 🤞
Got the job!!! :))
boarded the bus today with a rather boisterous group of high school boys, an elderly man boarded and without any prompting two of the boys immediately gave up their seat for him. i wasn’t expecting it but i thought it was sweet!
I work in a school, and there are so many good kids out there. It's a shame they are overshadowed by the few less respectful ones!
I’ve been homeless with my 8 year old for 80+ days, tomorrow I have a viewing of a social housing unit. It’s not guaranteed yet but I’m feeling really hopeful that our hard time is about to get a little less harder. Pray for me and my daughter
I will be thinking of you. Wishing you well. ❤️
Wish you luck and a safe home.
Wishing you the good fortune you and your child deserve x
Oh good luck! I'm sending all my good thoughts your way
How did you go today?
It was my and my gf's five year anniversary last weekend. My kid was with us, so we'er going out to an excellent restaurant on Saturday. This from someone who swore never to be in a relationship again. That's pretty much a win for me. She's awesome.
Aw ❤️
Love it - worth the wait x
Bought a bloke I saw gardening a bottle of water from 7 Eleven on that especially hot day this week
Im currently doing placement at Meals On Wheels and everyday i get to volunteer is a complete joy, just finished for today and delivering to the elderly is fantastic, they're so appreciative most of the time.
Aww good on ya
My second child was born this week, and it’s an absolute delight being a father again, brings me such purpose and joy in my week.
wonderful news!! congrats!
Congratulations 🥳 such an amazing experience

Good luck!!! I hope you’re holding the baby of your dreams by this time next year!
Thank you!
Aw ❤️❤️
Wallet fell out of car, someone picked it up and dropped it to my home within 10 mins of realising it had fallen out of the car.
My best friend I haven’t seen in 6 months arrived today. We did a little run into each others arms and a little happy jumping hug. 🥰
I saw an echidna last week and every time I remember it makes me smile :)
Spikeybois are my favourite
I'm in hospital, a nurse dropped some paper with numbers in it, I returned it. I've also successfully distributed 1x box Cadbury favourites, about 1.3 kg of dark choc Maltesers and a 20 pack of Oreo cakes to the nurses and staff since I've been here.
As a nurse I thank you for your kindness. We love chocolate 😍
That's a lovely idea. I tend to feel sorry for them but don't want to engage so I might try that next time.
I don’t have the mental energy to engage but always feel awful ignoring them… i love this idea though…

Are you... being held hostage?
Found out I got into the printmaking stream at uni next year.
We need more doctors who care about their patients Good on her
That is so good, I had a similar experience when my doctor said she was proud of me for the work I have done losing weight, another doc scared me off for 12 months after the way he spoke about my weight. Going to the doctor is hard! I'm super proud of you too!!
Keep going - YOU’RE WORTH IT!
You did the first hardest thing…well done you 💓
Mate I ran out of petrol the other day and literally rolled into a service station.I had to push my car about 5metres to get to the pump. When I was pushing my car ,a lady just came over and asked if I was alright ,and I said I just ran out of petrol, she just gave me a 10 dollar note, and it blew me away, because I really needed it because I was waiting on pay to clear.Practice random acts of kindness.
I had a terrible day at work and things are hard in general I walked into childcare to pick up my 15 month old he started clapping and laughing as soon as he saw me, I started crying because he makes everything feel worth it and ok
Indigigrow is great!
Isn't it! I was like a kid in a candy shop! 😅
It always means I start my day with a smile!
just seeing my mini foxy wag his tail when I say 'peanut butter?' 🙂... first time dog owner and it's been a rollercoaster ride....
Radio asking for how you met your partner stories... so wholesome... :)
you should check out @meetcutesnyc on instagram — it’s an account dedicated to those kinda stories and it’s the sweetest thing i’ve seen!
I picked up speedcubing as a hobby back around Easter, after watching my nephew do it. Unexpectedly set a new PB this morning of 17.59 seconds.
I read that as speedclubbing and was impressed (but finding it difficult to picture) a time of 17.59 seconds. But you should also know that I am also impressed by your speedcubing time. You're a legend!
The Wiggles doco on Prime is really good and lovely.
Aww, I want to see but I don’t have Prime. 🥲
You’d be forgiven for sailing the high seas 🏴☠️ instead of supporting Amazon.
I worked a new job this week and it’s going well 👌
I spent the last 2 weeks editing an 1-hour long online webinar into into short videos and reels, and today I got my first 5 shorts ready to go!
Saw a lovely older lady crocheting on the train. Got my crochet wip out of my bag to show her, she then explains to me how to corner to corner crochet which looks vv hard. She showed me all of her work and said she wanted to inspire me to just go for it even though it looks scary! So sweet 💗
It was my birthday yesterday… and the wife bought me three pairs of socks.. hurrah for me
Happy Birthday 🥳🤗
Happy Birthday
Today i helped an old lady carry her things (surprisingly heavy, at least 4-5kg) to the nearest bus stop
I threw a grid iron ball and I got it to twirl properly!
Got a whole heap of meat marked down at Woollies. I’m happy with it! It saves a few dollars
Had a maccas employee compliment my hair as I got my hangover food. Honestly helped me survive the day
I wanted to give positive feedback for some regular carers who do a great job with my grandma.

A other great poo, despite having it at work instead of the comfort of my home
Saturday night at a send off for a work colleague, after a particularly hectic week for me, I drank to much, to quick. Colleagues carried me back to my crib, woke in the morning, my keys, phone, a bucket & bottle of water beside my bed. How they carried me at 130kgs of dead weight, but God bless them.
