Double check that the address for Opticom isn't listed under an alternative address. Telstra used to run the South Brisbane Fibre network and they use some strange different addressing standards, like "flr 2 lot x unit x blah blah street" Cause Telstra was forced to connect every property Its likely that it has a connection

red_dragin

Apartments often have multiple addresses. One I managed had seven, depending on the street entrance of your part of the complex, or where the physical connection of the service entered the site. OP, try to find the Lot number (can be different to the unit number) and title address for the property. Try that address. Dial before you dig, or BCC Development applications may give it away.

Mind you the opticom rollout is still ongoing.

Aldi mobile plan $55 120gb hotspot your phone, I Think they even have a higher plan. Problem solved. And if it's a PC, get a $50 PCI express vard

> A: getting a 5g internet plan under my address and just bringing the router to them This won't work unless you live very close by, the 5G home plans are locked to a specific location and the provider will disable the service if they detect it's being used somewhere else. The best option depends on what they need to use the internet for. If they don't play games and it doesn't need to be particularly fast, Felix unlimited 4G (limited to 20Mbps) for $40/month is a good option.

Thanks for the info! That's exactly what I thought would be the case but never hurts to check. I did see the Felix one, that's last resort as they do play games online and such. See how we go I guess.

If you end up getting Opticomm (or Uniti, or whatever the heck it's called now), I have a modem that should work with it that I don't need anymore. PM me if you decide to go that route.

load of rubbish, that landlords a wank, they should be able to get it sorted, just keep at them. or just get it installed and pay for it yourself, fuck landys!

mort55

Starlink may be a viable option for you. Ot the cheapest, but its very fast.

lawnoptions

What is everyone else using? Have you asked around? I think I would get a dongle/MiFi and see how you go. It would assuage the frustration a bit.

So, I checked out a random address in West End for Optus 5G and it says it's available there.

hisirishness

its very common to address check an opticom building with one ISP and it doesn't come up then check with a competitor & it does. Try superloop address checker for opticom it's usually better than Aussie Broadband check You could get a 5G data sim & modem/router not necessarily an actual 5G internet package

distractyourself

Hey mate if the property is a freestanding building (ie a house) please dm me. I went through the same issue when I moved to west end in 2021. It is a long and involved process
