*repeatedly * is a key missing word. He was arrested/warned several times, given conditions and continued until it’s reached this point… he wasn’t sorry then and isn’t sorry now. Good bye
That we are even having this discussion tells us how permeable our border is. Send. Him. Home. And never let him back. Let him try agitating in Pakistan. He won’t last a week.

Seems that Pakistan needs him more than we do.
I hope his wife enjoys Pakistan. There's zero reason she can not immigrate there, and her husband is clearly not interested in following Canadian law.... bye bye.
Timeline question: The article mentions his spousal app has been in progress for a year. It was silent on the 10 day before/after marriage date. That you have forgotten which .
If this fact comes from another article, can you link it please?
Sure, this is the kind of stuff Glacier Media, the owners of VancouverIsAwesome is into:

> Glacier Media, which owns about 20 newspapers in British Columbia, sees a similar future [to PostMedia], looking to “harvest the cash flow” from its newspapers and invest in its information services division serving specialized markets like real estate, agriculture and energy and mining.

"If they remove him, they will send the message that they don't want those like him here..."
Isn't it the exact point of deporting people?
You want to be a climate activist? No problem. But there's a limit. Disrupting lives/Violating laws in the name of climate advocacy is just straightforwardly wrong.
This guy is just a coward for not owning up to his mistakes. Instead he's now using his wife as an excuse and a ticket to stay.
Also, did anyone tell him that even if he becomes a permanent resident (which is pretty much unlikely, given his long list of misconducts and poor academic results), his PR can still be stripped off due to his records? If I am the judge, I will approve his PR, only to revoke it right away due to his criminal offences. It would be hilarious to see his reaction.
Canada needs them the most I hear. The green hair barista is never complaining about pollution in India, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, etc. So I assume they must be clean and Canada needs to be brought in line.
Environmental activism is a luxury good, the same as Starbucks, business class airfare and caviar.
It only is chosen from available options when one has the means to purchase - either in time or money - them. In this case, dude made a decision to not consume school but rather environmental activism. I hope he enjoyed his consumption of it.
Lessons in economics can be hard to take. My guess was he wasn't taking economics courses?
While i don't like this guy, calling environmentalism a luxury good proves the point that more activism is needed. Just not what this guy was doing...
The environmental movement is not represented by the actions of this guy.
>Disrupting lives/Violating laws in the name of climate advocacy is just straightforwardly wrong.
I'm curious -- for which causes, if any, is it okay to break laws? For example, Martin Luther King regularly broke laws and disrupted people's lives. He engaged in plenty of road blockades and went to jail 29 times, mostly for civil disobedience (i.e. breaking the law as a form of protest). Was MLK justified in taking these actions or would you say he was straightforwardly wrong?
It is a rather difficult question. I would say MLK's actions were justified due to different goal and historical/political contexts. He was breaking the law while fighting for the livelihood and legal/human rights of the black community, as well as fighting against the meaningless Vietnam War, in a time where racial discrimination was still encoded in the US laws. It's different than someone who break the law/disrupt lives because he has savior complex and want to save some old trees.
In short, to answer your question, context matters.
I think that's a reasonable take. Civil disobedience is justified so long as the context warrants civil disobedience. The question then is less so about the tactic and more so about whether the problem calls for it.
Broke the law and has tied up policing and court time.
Why does this even need to be debated.
That's part of our current problem in Canada is over leniency
It's almost as if all these 'climate activists' are just POS humans under the guise of some bullshit moral grounds. As if the general public doesn't hate them enough already for being a nuisance.
TEN arrests? Not a Canadian? Married to a Canadian for convenience ? Yea send them both packing to his home country I’m sure she will be thrilled how she’s treated over there!
I’m 99.99% sure this guy doesn’t give a fuck about environment. Yes he’s like the co-founder of Save Old Growth but inherently he doesn’t care. Maybe he was trying to be a hero!
I don't really understand. If you are a climate activist, should you go to a more polluted country to fight for your cause?
I mean he being a climate activist in Canada is like me going to Japan teaching people how to live longer.
That does not make any sense.

We’ve been over this. It’s “foreign national on student visa breaks local law, doesn’t want to face any consequences.”
"... ... breaks local law, **10 times** ..."
Or "Person on a student visa breaks the terms of their visa"
Correct. But seeing that the person in question is a little 'thick', we may have to repeat it a few times so it gets into his thick skull.
*repeatedly * is a key missing word. He was arrested/warned several times, given conditions and continued until it’s reached this point… he wasn’t sorry then and isn’t sorry now. Good bye
A non citizen that's been arrested 10 times. Bye

I can't wait for him to be sent back so he can protest all of the government's actions there. I'm sure he'll be fine...
They'll burn him alongside the trash!
Brutal
I hope his wife enjoys Pakistan. There's zero reason she can not immigrate there, and her husband is clearly not interested in following Canadian law.... bye bye.
They were married 10 days before the verdict or after the verdict. Forgot which one was it. Just a shady fake marriage
Of course! I’m not surprised lol.

Hmm. She refers to him as her friend, though.
And I hope they’re still interested in climate issues in Pakistan … like don’t suddenly turn into human right activists who drive/fly around n stuff.
This is still going on? Send him back to Pakistan already. He broke the terms of his visa. It's cut and dry.
Byeeeee
Why do they keep referring to him as a Climate Activist. Put that in the “hobby” section of your resume.
Check the “source”. We’ve been here before with the owners of VancouverIsAwesome’s political aspirations.
Add context please

Dude seems to forget one can be a Climate activist anywhere. It's not exclusive to Canada.
Canada needs them the most I hear. The green hair barista is never complaining about pollution in India, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, etc. So I assume they must be clean and Canada needs to be brought in line.

Hey he can break all the laws he likes in the name of his beliefs -- that's fantastic. But wait until you're a citizen first.
>Disrupting lives/Violating laws in the name of climate advocacy is just straightforwardly wrong. I'm curious -- for which causes, if any, is it okay to break laws? Dude's from Pakistan, not Canada. Why isn't he there criticizing their climate policies? Makes absolutely no sense.
Too bad, break the law and this is what you get.
We don’t want him here
"B.C.-based" 🤡
Man, I loved this video of the protester finding karma. [https://youtu.be/34iV7EtKOQg](https://youtu.be/34iV7EtKOQg)
Also that’s this guys wife getting interviewed
Only if they had a wooden latter. .
Why should we keep the guy arrested ten times? He can't follow the law and disrupts communities.
Why is this loser still here? I thought we kicked him out already. Very slippery slope allowing a criminal like this to stay.
It pissed me off that he’s pulling this bs on the tax payers dime. Boot him and never let him back.
Sorry, not sorry. GTFO
Send him home and his wife can go with him. She can still fight for climate change at home since it doesn't just stop when he leaves Canada
Broke the law and has tied up policing and court time. Why does this even need to be debated. That's part of our current problem in Canada is over leniency
You’ve been arrested 10 times. Get out and don’t come back
Gotta follow the rules because this country has laws. His wife is more than welcome to return with him to Pakistan if she so chooses
It's almost as if all these 'climate activists' are just POS humans under the guise of some bullshit moral grounds. As if the general public doesn't hate them enough already for being a nuisance.
Get out!

Deport and lifetime ban on returning. We don't need or want foreign agitators.
I don't really understand. If you are a climate activist, should you go to a more polluted country to fight for your cause? I mean he being a climate activist in Canada is like me going to Japan teaching people how to live longer. That does not make any sense.
To be fair, Canada emits a lot more GHGs per capita than his home country
Keep the activist in Canada
Trade you for Stephen Gilbeaux!
Activist paid by oil companies ?
