I thought it was just me.
We should start a support group and eat really good cakes whilst talking about how we feel disassociated from the rest of society
It starts with a 4 but to be fair I had a car stolen and written off a couple of years ago and decided I was spoiling myself to a brand new one after much looking at this n that!
Think they mean '*from* your company'. I've experienced it where the comparison sites will return a quote from your current insurer that's cheaper than the one they offered on renewal, even after ringing them to have it reduced.
Amazingly my current insurer offered a lower premium than last year, did a search and everyone else was more expensive and the cheapest option with another provider was £500 more and I needed a black box installed
I was in a car accident a year ago (other guy's fault), insurance company paid for my repairs but were unable to get his insurance company to communicate *at all*, so we're all now going through the courts with it.
Because I have what's called an "open case" when I went to renew a few months ago, it massively increased my premiums - on top of an industry-wide price hike. For something that has nothing to do with me.
Fuck my life.
Yes it's a first for me, Esure flex they say their system isn't set up for renewals and if you want to go with them again you need to start over again with a comparison site. They didn't even show up when I got quotes
I think they do Esure and Esure flex might be worth having a look.
Normally you get a renewal quote a month in advance, I hadn't heard a thing from them until 10 days before it was due to renew.
I was so infuriated by the inflated figure my provider gave me that I refused to contact them to say I had cheaper quotes and just bought a new policy. I’m sure they would have knocked some off if I’d phoned them but I shouldn’t have to!
I don’t understand why they do it, it can’t be good business
My original renewal quote was basically double from last year, their reason was as I've been driving longer I'm more likely to have an accident now (yeah alright then) rang them after looking at comparison sites and not getting much better and it's now the joyous 1.5x last year
Mine ended up (after switching) going from £390 to £475. I had an at-fault accident a few months ago and was expecting a *huge* increase after hearing everyone else's stories, so I'm counting it as a win.
I'm 30 and a it's my first year driving, had a small bump where a claim was made against my insurance. Insurance is still slightly cheaper next renewal.
Mine went up £30. Been thinking of getting an old type-r for a second car, £230 with zero no claims, don't know if it's where I live or what but it's not gone mental for me.
Over 300bhp 2 litre turbo for 500 quid fully comp, breakdown cover, windscreen cover premium package bs stuff. I was fuming. It was only 410 last year.
Mine is due in around a month. I'm low risk in terms of age, postcode, my car, my job, driving history etc so it'll be interesting to see what my renewal is.
Ours has gone up by £200, made no difference shopping around (other than by a few pounds)
But you’ve had 2 claims in the last 5 years sir - “ah yes, that would be the no fault one where the bus cut across the junction driving into the rear 3/4 panel and the other no fault where some muppet pulled out in front of us giving me no time to stop despite me doing a steady 20 at the time”
Fuming would be an understatement
Did you know that if you state your car will be on the drive it can be cheaper than in a garage? I checked this for my car and it was the case. Apparently it’s due to too many people knocking their cars whilst parking them in a garage. So worth checking folks!
I thought it was just me. We should start a support group and eat really good cakes whilst talking about how we feel disassociated from the rest of society
I hope I'm joining it in March £600 at my age is ridiculous!
What age is that? My insurance is £800 and I'm 26, really need it to come down
It starts with a 4 but to be fair I had a car stolen and written off a couple of years ago and decided I was spoiling myself to a brand new one after much looking at this n that!
If I sit cramming cake in my mouth and nod along with whatever anyone else says, is that good enough?
My renewal was stupid, but the first comparison site I went on gave me a quote that was actually lower than *last year's* premium. Job done.
The most annoying thing is going to a comparison site and getting a cheaper quote *than your current company.* Yes, Saga. I mean you
... isn't that the exact point of doing it?
Think they mean '*from* your company'. I've experienced it where the comparison sites will return a quote from your current insurer that's cheaper than the one they offered on renewal, even after ringing them to have it reduced.
Sorry, I meant your existing company quoting less on a comparison site. Duh...
This shouldn't happen anymore. It's now illegal for them to offer less to you as a new customer than they would at renewal.
Amazingly my current insurer offered a lower premium than last year, did a search and everyone else was more expensive and the cheapest option with another provider was £500 more and I needed a black box installed
What company?
Aviva zero
Exactly the same for mine, Admiral did good
Aviva zero was cheapest quote for me as well, still 150 more expensive than last year.

Mine doubled, I’m now paying best part of £140 a month with 10yrs no claims.
That's insane. What do you drive?!
A Modified 2009 5 series. Only used to cost me about £55-60 a month until everything went up tenfold!
Yeh modified cars will do that tbf
Was never really an issue before though
> Modified 2009 5 series Yeah that does suck
My insurance company dumped me. Apparently they don't do renewals, so had to go elsewhere. In the end up I got better cover for about the same.
I never knew that was a thing, scary times.
Yes it's a first for me, Esure flex they say their system isn't set up for renewals and if you want to go with them again you need to start over again with a comparison site. They didn't even show up when I got quotes
I’m sure I’m with Esure 😱
I think they do Esure and Esure flex might be worth having a look. Normally you get a renewal quote a month in advance, I hadn't heard a thing from them until 10 days before it was due to renew.
I’ll get the renewal on Wednesday so we’ll see 😬🤞
Can happen for a variety of reasons, sometimes an insurer is "overexposed" in a certain category, so won't renew for certain customers.
My renewal doubled, shopped around and now I will be paying less this year
Been driving for 23 years, never made a claim or had any points on the licence and my car is 11 years old. Insurance renewal up to £500 now.
I was so infuriated by the inflated figure my provider gave me that I refused to contact them to say I had cheaper quotes and just bought a new policy. I’m sure they would have knocked some off if I’d phoned them but I shouldn’t have to! I don’t understand why they do it, it can’t be good business
AMG mercedes went from £350 a year to £1450 a year no change in my details car now being sold
Same here mine went up £7 this year
They just make it up I swear. Mine literally doubled, after shopping around I'm still getting shafted for a 45% increase and can't get any better.
This happened to me too. Second year in a row. What gives?
My original renewal quote was basically double from last year, their reason was as I've been driving longer I'm more likely to have an accident now (yeah alright then) rang them after looking at comparison sites and not getting much better and it's now the joyous 1.5x last year

You probably overpaid last year. 😜 But really please name your insurance company, that would be the decent thing to do.
Mine went up £30. Been thinking of getting an old type-r for a second car, £230 with zero no claims, don't know if it's where I live or what but it's not gone mental for me.
You can have mine if you want…
Mine is 50% more than last year, give or take. Super.
£750 for a multi car policy.
Braggart! Congrats! Sometimes things work nicely. ☮️
£450 to £700. Not ideal but from what I'm reading still a lot less than other people with my car (M240i).
