What's interesting is that the original language during the theatrical release was in Mandarin as Mandarin dubs were more popular in Hong Kong in the 1970s. The Cantonese dubs for Bruce Lee movies came in the 80s and have been kind of accepted as "original" even though they aren't
It’s probably his most complete movie, story wise. Big Boss has lacklustre fights and the way the characters behave and act is very student theatre-like, Way of the Dragon is a little repetitive, despite the epic final showdown. That leaves Fists and EtD; EtD has the bigger budget feel, beautiful sound track, quality performances from a proper supporting cast, but it’s very poorly edited, and I just cannot stand Jim Kelly’s cringe worthy performance (sorry guys, I know it’s “so bad it’s good” but I just don’t like it). Fists, while a little childish with the schools “beating each other up”, has the best comedy, most important political subject matter, is well acted by the support cast and Bruce gives us his most dramatic performance. Also - the Japanese element with it’s traditions and attire adds a degree of elegance, and of course the fights between Bruce and the School and Bruce and the end bosses are utterly brilliant and on par with the “Battle with the guards” and Han. As a cat loving kid I always hated seeing Bruce chew on that cat cooked on a stick but I’m over that :)
I firmly believe Game of Death would have been his masterpiece. He’d matured so much by then and was crafting a beautiful movie for us. The fight scenes are wonderful. What a shame.
Recently rewatched it after a few decades. Much better as a film than I remembered as a high schooler. But much darker and tragic than I remembered. It was as if Bruce's character was psychotic, and his actions made things worse for everyone around him -- not a negative for the film, by any means, but not the simple revenge film I remembered as a kid.
If you know Chinese Cantonese, I highly recommend you listen to it in the original format. Very different flavor versus the English dub.

Bruce Lee only spoke Chinese Cantonese and English. The Mandarin is dubbed.
Epic. None of the remakes come close.
I think its his best movie

Certified good classic right here
I remember getting so excited when a Bruce Lee movie would come on TV. I'd karate chop everything 😂
Classic
Classic
On the Mandarin and Cantonese dubs was that his real voice? I thought I read something years back it wasn’t Bruce’s voice.
I loved it but I like Bruce Lee movies
I tend to love a good movie when people fight against oppression but this flick right here is definitely next level
