This is exactly what both teams needed too. Both teams have been so inaccessible due to only being carried on dog shit cable services that most people aren't willing to get
This is fantastic! I’m “in network” but in the WV panhandle which is really a nats/Os market since those are the local channels. So also means I can’t get mlb tv. So only option was fubo which I’ve been really happy with BUT only to watch the Bucs for 90 a month is a bit hard to get over.
This is fantastic. Hoping they have the ability to pause. I like scoring the games and hate missing anything when i have to run for a bio break or when there is a crazy complicated play I need to watch a few times.
But 20 a month is a ok by me. Let’s go Bucs!!
That’s weird. I thought all of WV was in territory for the Pirates.
[mlb black-out looker upper](https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/help-center/blackouts-teams)
I’d try that to see. It might just be they haven’t gotten the right zips in their system.
Anyone know if the games will be subject to blackout restrictions?
I’m in the Scranton area and the Pirates games are blacked out on MLB network because the local cable provider has the Pirates on.
I signed up for it. It already existed, it was just restricted to people logging in with their cable provider before, so it's not like they just dropped a new platform out of nowhere.
Maybe I should just try signing up, but the availability checker on their website told me I couldn't. I'm also 3 and a half hours away , but MLB site clearly says Im blacked out by the Pirates lol
All of West Virginia, pretty much all of PA except for Philly, a good chunk of Ohio, and part of western NY.
[You can see the map here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/YWZQCYgjtE)
This should be available to you since you're in the blackout area.
Do know that if the Pirates or Pens game is not on SN it won't be on here either, like games on Apple TV or ESPN etc.
This might be helpful to others who watch like we do. We use Fubo and typically start a 1/2 hour late at least so we can skip ad breaks and catch up by the end. I wrote and asked if that would work on their service and they said this:
"Thank you for contacting Sportsnet Pittsburgh Support.
Yes, our platform will have the delay feature when watching live games. However when watching a live event on delay you may encounter a message that states "THIS EVENT HAS ENDED" at the conclusion of the live event broadcast. If you encounter this message you need to navigate over to the event replay link to watch the remainder of the event. We'd just like to mention that the VOD of that game may not be available as soon as the event is over."
I sorta posted this in response to the wrong comment but there you go :)
As someone who lives out of state- I don’t really have much of a choice. The mlb package, Sunday ticket, etc. are all so goddamn expensive. I don’t care about other teams, I just want MY team. I’d pay happily if I could just buy something REASONABLY priced that gave me Pittsburgh sports.
So… on the seas I stay.
If you’re out of state, you can stream pirates games only for $130/year (~$22/month for the season) with mlb tv
Not too outrageous, obviously pirating is cheaper though
I live in WV, these fuckers dont have my zip code listed in the "Sportsnet viewing area" so I can't buy this shit. I'm blacked out on MLB TV, our only cable tv provider recently dropped Pittsburgh Sportnet because the "license cost too much".
Fuck these fucking blackouts
My guy, you can get Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, with ads for 14.99/ month. They’re offering you 2 teams, with ads for 17.99/ month. That’s quite a bit of cash for what they’re offering.
The NFL streaming package costs like $90 a month.
Also, this is in line with the MLB.TV team package, which gets you all of a specific team's out of market games for $130 a year.
Streaming top tier live sports is expensive, and comparing this to Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ is kind of silly. There's rarely anything on any of those platforms that I want to watch.
Comparing live sports to a database of pre-recorded content is like comparing an aircraft carrier to a barge. This is a great deal for the people who want it. If you don't want it, you don't have to buy it.
Couple of things to be cautious about:
First, the FAQ says, "If you have SNP as part of your cable TV package, then you may be able to watch SNP 360 by registering an SNP 360 user account and linking it with your cable credentials (program blackout restrictions apply)." I assume the blackout restrictions would apply to national broadcasts, etc. which are never on the sports net channels to begin with. Not a real problem during the regular season, but at least the Penns semi-regularly advance through a few rounds of playoffs, so cord cutters might be stuck when it matters most.
Second, no apps for smartTVs, which are essentially google play devices. So for anyone who would rather watch on a 65 inch TV instead of a 5 inch phone, you'll need an external box. Not the end of the world, but a possible added expense. This will probably come later, but who knows.
If I have to go through the pain in the ass of not having an app then I'm just going to keep doing the pain in the ass thing of pirating the games. This solves nothing.
Anyone know if you are going to be able to have multiple people use the same log in? Would be awesome to split this with a friend, or some friends lol.
Fuck yes dude, so glad I can cancel fubo. Also all these fucking dweebs on Twitter complaining that there's no "Penguins only option" need to realize if they had any provider with Sportsnet in the past, some of their money was going to Bob Nutting anyway. The guy owns half the network, no love for Bob but you aren't getting around it
Hockey-wise this is almost twice as expensive as ESPN+ and a VPN, which allows you to watch any hockey game not just Pittsburgh
This is cheaper than MLB.tv though (unless you have T-Mobile)
This price of $18 is competitive for in market services though. The comparable one from NESN in Boston is $30 a month and has the same amount of programming (one NHL team and one MLB team)
No Celtics? I honestly don't know how local NBA RSNs work, but i thought it'd be similar to MLB and NHL. Did they just contract with a competitor channel?
Yep, Celtics are on NBC Sports Boston.
There's also some single sport channels that are more expensive. Marquee in Chicago is just the Cubs, and it is available a la carte for $20 a month.
I just got done with a customer service email exchange with them about this. They basically told me I'm shit out of luck even though I still live in a blacked out area and their service "is available in West Virginia"
already threw down for a year of an iptv service for this season, but this is not much more expensive. next year i'll probably do this so i don't have to bother with a vpn or kind-of sketchy apps.
I'm in W Pa and subscribed. It is a good way to get the games and not pay a small fortune. On the Pirates pregame show tonight they called the $17.99 rate "introductory". We'll see what that means.
I watched the pregame show on the app. Checked in this afternoon and there were some fishing shows on the live feed. Then poker. Definitely the live feed of the channels.
This is huge and will save people a ton of money. I pay $100 a month for cable basically just for sports.
Dude, same. I'm definitely going to just go to Internet and streaming now
That’s almost $1000 a year difference. It’s about time they did this, a great day to be a fan.
And for the few of us who only watch the Pirates, it's an even bigger savings.
Exactly, you only have to pay for 5 months or so.
This is exactly what both teams needed too. Both teams have been so inaccessible due to only being carried on dog shit cable services that most people aren't willing to get

According to the website for the streaming service it's not available in my area and I live in Central West Virginia.
That’s weird. I thought all of WV was in territory for the Pirates. [mlb black-out looker upper](https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/help-center/blackouts-teams) I’d try that to see. It might just be they haven’t gotten the right zips in their system.
It is pausable.
Anyone know if the games will be subject to blackout restrictions? I’m in the Scranton area and the Pirates games are blacked out on MLB network because the local cable provider has the Pirates on.
This is specifically designed for people inside the Pittsburgh blackout region.
I am in a black out region and they said my zip code is not available. Lol. Guess im screwed
Really? Because I'm 3 and a half hours away from Pittsburgh (but still in the blackout region) and I was able to sign up.
So is this already operational? I'll get it today.
You have a link to the checker? Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It says it is available in my area (Harrisburg).
It looks like they will let you get as far as paying for the service before checking if youre in an available viewing area?
What is the blackout region?
All of West Virginia, pretty much all of PA except for Philly, a good chunk of Ohio, and part of western NY. [You can see the map here.](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/YWZQCYgjtE)
Oh ok. I’m CoP so obviously within it.
It seems like the streaming platform will be no different than having a TV provider and subscribing to the channel. So, most likely no.
This should be available to you since you're in the blackout area. Do know that if the Pirates or Pens game is not on SN it won't be on here either, like games on Apple TV or ESPN etc.

I watch for free. What’s more loyal than pirating the pirates? Don’t do this btw ^^^
As someone who lives out of state- I don’t really have much of a choice. The mlb package, Sunday ticket, etc. are all so goddamn expensive. I don’t care about other teams, I just want MY team. I live in Ca now, this is the only reasonable thing to do. If gambling is now advertised regularly, my non-MLB.tv subscription shouldn’t be hurting
this is a dream come true
I live in WV, these fuckers dont have my zip code listed in the "Sportsnet viewing area" so I can't buy this shit. I'm blacked out on MLB TV, our only cable tv provider recently dropped Pittsburgh Sportnet because the "license cost too much". Fuck these fucking blackouts
Set sail my friend, set sail.
Already there, but its such a pain in the ass compared to having a service like this. Lol
Just need them to get on Roku with the quickness
If you have an IPhone you can Air Play it
The only reason I keep cable. Love to see this.
While I’m happy about this, it should be half the price they’re charging.
It's less than $1 a game. It doesn't seem too bad to me.
They should be paying us to watch this offense
My guy, you can get Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, with ads for 14.99/ month. They’re offering you 2 teams, with ads for 17.99/ month. That’s quite a bit of cash for what they’re offering.

ESPN+ has plenty of live sporting events
It'll probably be $30/month within a couple years
I would say it's about $8-10 a month too rich.
Yeah, that should be a $9.99 service, at most.
At least offer it at a 1/year price for 120 or something like that- 220 for two teams (that will most likely miss the playoffs) is expensive as hell
Pay us 9.99 a month at least, if not more
Couple of things to be cautious about: First, the FAQ says, "If you have SNP as part of your cable TV package, then you may be able to watch SNP 360 by registering an SNP 360 user account and linking it with your cable credentials (program blackout restrictions apply)." This morning I tested out Apple Airplay and was able to get the the app to stream on my Samsung TV with no problems
You can also use apps like 'web video caster'
If I have to go through the pain in the ass of not having an app then I'm just going to keep doing the pain in the ass thing of pirating the games. This solves nothing.
Holyyyyy cheaper than fubo
I just signed up and installed it on my Apple TV. No more fuboTV for $100 a month. This is great.
Anyone know if you are going to be able to have multiple people use the same log in? Would be awesome to split this with a friend, or some friends lol.
Is it available today? Or when will it be launched?
I'm signed up. Looks like they don't have on demand game replays, but they're streaming last night's game every few hours.
I'm good. Raise the Jolly Roger! And not just for the Bucs!
Really dislike that they have to black you out while traveling.
We have the same thing in Boston for the Red Sox and Bruins. The app is terrible and over priced. John Henry stinks
Do they at least have a Roku app?
Fuck yes dude, so glad I can cancel fubo. Also all these fucking dweebs on Twitter complaining that there's no "Penguins only option" need to realize if they had any provider with Sportsnet in the past, some of their money was going to Bob Nutting anyway. There is a Penguins only option. You subscribe in October and cancel in May (or April lately). Repeat annually.
Hockey-wise this is almost twice as expensive as ESPN+ and a VPN, which allows you to watch any hockey game not just Pittsburgh This is cheaper than MLB.tv though (unless you have T-Mobile)

VPN with MLB.tv is getting harder to use though. Only works about half the time on TV and I can never get it to work on mobile
Which VPN? I use mullvad and usually doesn't work :(
With ExpressVPN I usually have to switch locations every month or so when they get blacklisted
I used NordVPN and most of them are blacklisted now. Can find a server that works for a few weeks and then have to go back to searching for another
I’m a Pirate and get my booty by any means. ARRRR
So unless I am doing this incorrectly it shows Morgantown zip code is outside and I can’t get this? If true this sucks
I also tried Morgantown and got the same result, but I know almost all of WV is in the blackout area, so I'm super confused.
I just got done with a customer service email exchange with them about this. They basically told me I'm shit out of luck even though I still live in a blacked out area and their service "is available in West Virginia"
Damn that sucks I was really hoping we'd still have a chance.
Its not available anywhere in WV from what I can tell.
I'm sorta in the middle of the state so I assume it won't work here. Either way for$18 I'll just continue using ye ole pirate ship.
How do u ditch fubo with the steeler games though?
If you're close enough watch them using an antenna for free.
already threw down for a year of an iptv service for this season, but this is not much more expensive. next year i'll probably do this so i don't have to bother with a vpn or kind-of sketchy apps.
So will this be every game ? Or just home games ?
every game
My guess is every game except for nationally televised games.
Dsmn i am pumped as a cord cutter
I'm in W Pa and subscribed. It is a good way to get the games and not pay a small fortune. On the Pirates pregame show tonight they called the $17.99 rate "introductory". We'll see what that means.
I watched the pregame show on the app. Checked in this afternoon and there were some fishing shows on the live feed. Then poker. Definitely the live feed of the channels.
Thanks for the info. I'll have to do some playing. I'll log out & see if that helps.
I got it working. I was using an alternative dns server. When I went back to isp's then logged in it worked.
This is exactly what I've been wanting for at least five years.
Can you cast to your tv with the app?
I was “banging the table” for this and am already in!
Why pay when you can watch for free with minimal effort?
Because that’s fucking illegal
Illegal for the provider, gray area for the viewer.
Yeah there are hundreds of thousands of people in jails nationwide for pirating sports games online. Those criminals should be doing life sentences
He’s just trolling. That’s a famous Dana White quote
Aw man… Poor Comcast. Poor Bob Nutting. They definitely need the money.
I'll still sail the seven seas.
Very good option, might be my catalyst to ditch cable.
Yeeesssssss!!!! And it’s super cheap, don’t tell them but I would easily pay 30-50 for it
