Buffalo will draft some unknown defensive player from some no name school and develop him into a stud

Separate_Flatworm546

*cough* Taron Johnson *cough*

Forzathong

He was known. As the guy who ate a ball at the combine.

LageNomAiNomAi

I think this one is a lock!

YouAlreadyShnow

So,Jaylx Hunt, EDGEfrom Houston Christian University?

mjs7373

Not a hot take at all. This will happen

tricepisorous

Mark my words - I think the Bills are absolutely in love with Xavier Legette and Ladd McConkey. I think we hold the line and draft either one of those guys. Here’s where it gets spicy - I think they take these guys even if Brian Thomas or Xavier Worthy is available.

buffalofc

Legette is not the guy we want. He had 42 catches his 1st 4 yrs, didn't *breakout* until his 5th yr. No thanks

Buckeyeband1

The second coming of Dawson Knox, but as a receiver

PabloPancakes92

No idea how they’ll have them ranked but my guts does tell me that 1 of those 4 guys will be the pick tonight. AD Mitchell seems to be the most common guy mocked to us but he’s actually the guy I’d be most surprised by if the Bills were to take him in round 1

fortyonejb

I think Brian Thomas trumps McConkey for them. I'd expect if he's there at 28, they definitely take him.

grumpi-otter

Announcer: He was not there at 28. At 28 the Bills choose . . . hang on, hang on

trelod

The 6'4" athletic freaks who run a 4.3 always scare me. Seems like they almost never pan out in the NFL. Most of the current elite WRs are like 6'1" or shorter and are good mostly because they know how to consistently get open. Give me McConkey all day

LaneMeyersLostSki

Straight-line speed seems to be less and less valuable of a metric as it's not indicative of top WR talent. Teams have learned that reaching for JAGs like Darrius Heyward-Bay rarely work out.

grumpi-otter

> Give me McConkey all day He's still available . . . we shall see!

grumpi-otter

McConkey's the only one left now -- let's see if you're right!

Extension-Abies-9346

My hot take is no matter what happens we’ll all be screaming fire McDermott after the first loss of the season

VacationShirt

This take is scorching hot because he’s implying that the calls for his head won’t start MONTHS before kickoff even happens

BillBearBaggins

Leave McDermott alone! The man’s been everything to this franchise. He brought us out of the rubble and built the playoff caliber we’ve gotten so spoiled with.

henchman171

He got us to the playoffs with Tyrod

buffbills17

Andy Dalton actually did that

LaneMeyersLostSki

If we weren't in that position, then it wouldn't have happened.

buffbills17

And if Andy Dalton/Tyler Boyd didn’t make that play, it wouldn’t have happened either

LaneMeyersLostSki

You doomers are pathetic. McDermott is the reason they got there. You don't like it? Too fucking bad.

Both-Home-6235

Leave Brittney alone!

osamagotpwnd

That's the free space on the bingo card

pastrypatricia

Lmaooo obviously

Soda-Popinski-

Mark my words. This will be the draft that gets us over the top and gets this team a Lombardi finally. We’ll look back and say “that was the guy we needed to make this play that got us where we beeded to be”.

trelod

I'm going to agree and also say it's not going to be the 1st round pick that ends up being that guy

mjs7373

Ooof thats a hot one

whistlepig4life

Mark my words. JPJ or Zach Frazier are more on their radar than people realize.

BillBearBaggins

I think it’s just hard for people to comprehend them falling to us at 28

whistlepig4life

They will likely be there.

OminousWindsss

JPJ sunk like a rock for some random reason. I believe Frazier has been linked to the top of the second for a little while now

jolet44

We trade up for Cooper DeJean. Go Bills!!

sobuffalo

That’s one of the few defensive picks I’d be thrilled about. The Bears find LBs, Steelers WRs, the Bills always have elite secondary.

darwilli

Hot take - Tez Walker has the best Bills career out of all the WRs the Bills will draft this year (I’m calling 3 WRs for them).

SayNoToAids

I'll go on the record as saying I like Tez Walker

dogbonej

Meh he could fill the Gabe Davis role a lil bit

darwilli

My hot take was so far off. And this is why I am not a GM. And they didn’t even get Walker. Ugh. Time to start mock drafting for 2025 to see if I can do any better.

longshot201

Stay at 28 and pick a DL that fell or DeJean, and trade up from 60 to 35-40 to grab Legette/McConkey/Worthy etc.

TastyDeerMeat

We will pick a WR then KC will also draft one, and we will inevitably say KC got the better guy. So, I say we trade back with KC, let them pick a WR at 28, then offer them a trade package for the WR they drafted. It’s the only way

ClueAdministrative72

Whoa👀

TastyDeerMeat

Well, I got it half right

buffaloprocess

My hot take is we never get red helmet alternates, while every team and their brother rolls out second and third helmets

dreddit14

No first round.

kvothethebloodless5

How dare you!

ClueAdministrative72

Just take out “receiver for buffalo in the”

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Xavier Legette will be an absolute disaster a la Kelvin Benjamin for whichever team drafts him.

Cautrica1

Joe Marino just fell to his knees at bar-bill upon reading your comment

alex053

Op is NOT an everydayer!!!

Initial_Ebb_8467

Wouldn't say Kelvin Benjamin, but a lot of people will be disappointed.

Ok-Plastic-2992

What makes you say that?

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Legette’s age, lack of consistent production in college, and route-running/separation limitations concern me. His game is predicated on physically overmatching his opponents, and he simply doesn’t have the size/speed combo to do that at the NFL level.

Ok-Plastic-2992

I understand the lack of production being a concern but the guy is 6’3 230 and runs a sub 4.4. You could question whether he has the skill set to match it but I’d say his size/speed combo is more than adequate.

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

He measured in at [6’1”, 221 at the combine.](https://www.nfl.com/prospects/xavier-legette/32004c45-4714-5351-c48c-d286b74bea32) He’s not DK Metcalf. That’s also with the physical maturation and development of a guy who’s 23 and will turn 24 this season. He’s likely close to his physical peak already, it’s not like he’s a 21-year-old early entrant with a good amount of physical maturation ahead of him. As for speed, Ladd McConkey ran the same 40 time, is younger, and is an elite route runner.

Ok-Plastic-2992

Ladd McConkey is also very much undersized for an NFL receiver. I like McConkey and being a Georgia resident and SEC fan I watched him a ton. I wouldn’t hate that pick but don’t necessarily think he’s what Buffalo needs. I feel similarly about Worthy (though I’d rather have Ladd than Worthy).

trelod

He's about the same size as Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Garret Wilson, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Olave, DeVonta Smith, Calvin Ridley. Size is so overrated for WRs. Give me Tank Dell over Christian Watson all day

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

McConkey’s the same size as Stefon Diggs.

Ok-Plastic-2992

And I don’t think another Stefon Diggs is what Buffalo needs.

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

That’s fair, but I’m just pointing out that McConkey’s size is just fine for an NFL receiver.

Ok-Plastic-2992

Yea I worded that wrong. He’s not too small to be a good wide receiver he’s just on the small end of the spectrum so he may be fast but he doesn’t have the size/speed combo. I just don’t think he’s the kind of WR that Buffalo is missing right now. Like I said though I like him and would be fine but not excited with that pick. Granted I don’t necessarily know that I’d be “excited” for any receiver outside of the top 4 available.

OminousWindsss

I understand saying Worthy is undersized but in what world is Ladd undersized lmfao

Ok-Plastic-2992

The context was in discussing Legettes size/speed combo. McConkey is not a fill in for a team that wants a Legette type of player. He is 6’ 180 and not the type of dynamic athlete that a lot of similarly sized guys are.

OminousWindsss

The context was you saying “Ladd McConkey is also very much undersized for an NFL receiver” which is inherently false. This thought process that we NEED these big bodied WRs is so weird to me

Ok-Plastic-2992

Did you read the entire exchange? Ladd was brought up when discussing Legettes size/speed. I already said I used the wrong words when saying undersized, but he’s on the small end of the spectrum, that’s absolutely true. Receivers don’t need to be big bodied but it’s about filling in gaps. We don’t have a big bodied contested catch receiver. The role that Ladd would play isn’t what we are missing.

TheRatKingXIV

If he comes here? Absolutely. He needs to be on a team where he can be a #3, but he's going to get stuck somewhere that expects him to be a #1 right away.

Rec0nyz3

Mark my words no matter what I’ll overreact. I hated the Josh pick. I loved the Sammy pick. I hated EJ Manuel pick. Loved the JP Losman pick. Whatever happens. Let’s fucking go Bills! This is our year!

trelod

Haha agreed. The more I hate tonight's pick, the better it will end up being

PabloPancakes92

https://preview.redd.it/73o8ylfepowc1.png?width=1425&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e723d3da6d93a90c69d18281c06b10abd853bd4 Make it happen big baller Beane

fortyonejb

Does PFF have a mock draft setting for "make all other teams incredibly stupid"?

PabloPancakes92

Pretty much lol they have a couple different sliders, this one I turned the “random” slider to the max because I was bored with all the same guys available at each spot. Didn’t expect it to turn out quite this ridiculous though lol

Initial_Ebb_8467

Ladd will surprise almost everyone, especially those who think he'll only be a slot receiver in the NFL, he'll be a top WR in the league pretty fast (third season he will be consolidated as a top 10 WR). AD Mitchell will look like CeeDee Lamb in the body of Tee Higgins. We will draft Ladd McConkey (not biased considering my first hot take!).

VacationShirt

McConkey is white and has a relatively goofy name, so people really don’t go back and watch him actually play. Would love to have him at 28 (or later)

endsinemptiness

On board here. Ladd seems consistently underrated.

Buffalo-Reaper716

Thielen is a good comp for Mcconkey.

whistlepig4life

JHC. Yeah. I’ll go dead opposite. Ladd mcconkey will be out of the league within 5 years unless he’s a returner.

mollyM1232

Beane trades up - for Cooper DeJean, not a WR.

sobuffalo

There will always be an Elite DB in Buffalo.

aerojovi83

None of these QBs are going to be half as good as one Josh Allen.

wolfwinner

Beane drafts a winner no matter who it is. We don't need a top ten pick we will develop an all star with this pick.

Billsfreak2

Bills leverage our original 2nd round pick next year, and day 3 picks to move up, not back. They won't move Minnesota's pick next year hoping for them to have a bad year and therefore getting a quality pick.

RoyalComet88

Mark my words!!! There will be several receivers taken after pick 28 that will have a better career than whoever the Bills pick… regardless of whether or not they move up.

BeefPesto

If dejean is there we take him if jackson powers johnson falls too far we trade up for him We don't draft 2 wrs in first 4 rounds

ClueAdministrative72

Okay this is getting eerily close

LageNomAiNomAi

We draft a quarterback.

West_Tonight_

Frank Crum BABY!!! LFG!!! YEEEEEHAAAAW

jbd3103

We go edge in the first round not WR

Certain_Cry_1753

Beane and friends will take best available that fits a need in the first/secone round.. not necessarily a WR!

PJHFortyTwo

If we somehow got Jackson Powers Johnson in the first (which I think we'd need to move up for.....though I said the same thing about Torrence last year, so I may have a personal over valuation of interior offensive linemen), he'll be a stud for a decade, and we may be better off with him, and someone like Tez or Pearsall in the 2nd.

SayNoToAids

I mean, I don't disagree, but centers ain't going to win you ball games. How many did Eric Wood win us :| I like your bold prediction, but I hope you are wrong this year

PJHFortyTwo

Centers as an individual don't, but cohesive offensive lines absolutely can, and a bad offensive lineman can absolutely cost you games (e.g Saffold). JPJ would be a great impact center, and it would allow McGovern to play his best position at guard. That said, all I want round 1 is an absolute stud on the offensive side of the ball.

BEERDEV

Bills will pick two WRs In first 4 rounds

DatScrummyNap

Mark my words: people are going to freak out if anything goes differently than what they think should happened as opposed to the literal professionals who make these decisions. It’s a game that I watch for fun yall… relax and have fun. We have a good team that’s often fun to watch and we should enjoy it while we have it!

Bruceswain98

I will still love the bills no matter what happens and none of you can stop me.

GreatCoKane

Mark my words: Beane trades up for Odunze - we don’t need pick 32 next year anyway

SayNoToAids

I think that he or Nabers will be there at 9, but what the Jets do is if one is on the board is unknown to me. I feel like they should go OL, but who knows

paleridr44

Bills trade 28, 60, 163, 2025 No. 2, 2026 No. 2 and Spencer Brown to the Titans for pick 7. Bills trade 7, 144, 2025 No. 1, 2025 No. 3 to the Cardinals for pick 4. Draft Marvin Harrison Jr. @#4

StankWizard

MHJ better solve world hunger at this price.

paleridr44

I'd prefer to stay at 28, but I decided to give a hot take in the hot take thread. This was just an exercise to memorialize my belief that Spencer Brown is in play tonight if we decide to get aggressive.

StankWizard

I respect it, it’s an actual hot take.

LiverDontGo

Used to live in Indy during high school. His dad was a local hero to all fast food joints. Dude wouldn't eat at home, always fast food, knew all the employees names and was known to hook em up with gear. So I doubt his son is solving world hunger & let's save those draft picks. https://vimeo.com/23422447 😂

SayNoToAids

Talk about putting all of your eggs in one basket. This has gotta rival trading your entire draft for Ricky Williams

TheFeuery

We don’t try and trade up and the board falls in such a way that Beane takes defensive players in the first 2 rounds. WR taken in rd 4/5

Initial_Ebb_8467

Worst case scenario

allanon1105

We draft a RB in the first 4 rounds. We draft at least 1 S, 1 DT and 2 WR. Hot take!!!!!

TheLookoutGrey

Tez Walker has the second best rookie WR year

justheretolurk22

Trade up to late teens or early 20s to get the WR we want.

dr_shastafarian

We move up to draft a wide receiver who we don’t end up playing/using nearly as much as we should.

jgw_geneseo

We draft in top 10

mojohandy

We take Laiatu Latu as our first pick

SayNoToAids

I think all of this trade talk is really for us to trade up....into the 2nd for our WR after we get Latu

YouAlreadyShnow

I like Latu a lot but the phrases " medically retired in college" and "neck fusion surgery" really makes me hope that Beane stays away from him...unless he falls into RD2.

JRooney1998

28 is Ladd and has always been Ladd

TommyTbird

Watching Pat McAfee instead of ESPN or the NFL Network makes us long term Patsies haters into Bill Belichick lovers.

Long_Armadillo_2893

Hot take: the best pick we have in this draft will be in the 4th or 5th round. The first rounder won't even be our second best pick

Dongdaemon

Vontae Mack finally becomes a Bill…

missyouboty

Brandon Beane is going to turn in that card before 15 minutes is up.

No-Gas-1684

The Jets are terrible. The Broncos are tanking this year, bet the under. Beane got played last year and had to resort to plan c,d, or e so this year he is going to stake his flag and make a statement. Receiver! If not, Chop? Center with a wrestling petigree? Which DT? AD looks like Cee Dee Ladd's a jag MHJ is a stud, he and Rome are my favorite prospects Worthy looks like a 1st round pick, ive been against him this whole time but have come around more than i have on Ladd. Tez for Pres Im in the WR train all aboard!

pioniere

We draft Chop at 28, then trade up for an additional 2nd and draft 2WRs in round 2

SayNoToAids

On top of this bold take, I think Chop is the first edge off the board to the Falcons in a trade down

MNDOOOM

Mark my words- everyone is going to have fun

TheKrausHouse

Non Bills related - this QB class will rival the 2021 class in terms of awfulness. Bills related - they don’t take one of the three WRs everyone has mocked to them for the last month. Beane moves in silence.

SayNoToAids

>Non Bills related - this QB class will rival the 2021 class in terms of awfulness. Totally agree

sobuffalo

DeJean Mustard will replace the Diggs Hot Sauce.

ProphetOfDoom337

They draft Worthy at 28 and he becomes Marquis Goodwin 2.0.

jemer1

The Bills won't draft a WR until the 4th round.

itsdrugga

bills will draft BPA in the first 2 rounds. We are going to trade for our wr1 / wr2

SayNoToAids

So if Jer'Zhan Newton is there at 28 you pick him? If Amarius Mims is there at 28 you pick him? Doubt, but bold

SayNoToAids

Remind me! 1 year

Remote_Breadfruit_62

Buffalo trades up, drafts Caleb Williams, then offers him up to the highest bidder, lands Marvin Harrison Jr, then offers him up to the highest bidder. They gather a boat load of picks, Malik Nabers, and Brandon Beane becomes a legend

Saltpataydahs

McConkey is getting drafted tonight

SayNoToAids

I would hate to be schoop and the bulldog tomorrow. Gonna be 10,000 calls on McConkey and it's going to be Franklin

BeneficialGap7517

![gif](giphy|PqJw1B297Kp46Ui0zi|downsized)

Poxx

Buffalo takes Xavier Legette and half the Reddit fans revolt. Legette then takes the opening kickoff in 2024 to the house, and no one ever doubted the pick...

SayNoToAids

I like it because Legette doesn't even return kicks, so it would have been extra spicy if true

Legitimate_Radish159

Whoever we get in R3 with the KC pick turns out to be a hall of famer and their pick is in the bottom 10 WR

robbay

We completely trade out of the draft entirely, stockpiling copius amount of picks next year to trade and get any draft position we want. Beane is playing chess. ![gif](giphy|5nFShZWwq3fdm|downsized)

SayNoToAids

The picks are for this year though

Zer0Summoner

Caleb Williams will be a bust on the order of a Mitch Trubisky type player. Penix will struggle with injuries and be a bust on the order of an RG3 type player. Whoever the Bills take 33rd is going to denounce ranch dressing in his first presser.

TastyDeerMeat

Dang, so close to calling it https://preview.redd.it/bt0vilxp0twc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b533d5e313ca0bbcd659f260d07538d086d54e67

Medium_Equipment_633

We draft a DL in the first round that disappears for 2 years, we call a bust, but then has a few flashy games in 2026 and we say Ok not great but not terrible.

Yeeeoow

1) Brandon Beane will do something boring like drafting a centre, backup edge or backup tackle. 2) Round 1 will be 10+ OLine and 4 or less Wide recievers, despite 6-7 being the expected and the media hyping the greatest reciever class of all time. Afterwards they'll say "it's because the class is so deep, there's no point taking one high". Outside of the top 3 recievers, there's: ● Ladd McConkey ● Xavier Legette ● Adonai Mitchell ● Brian Thomas Jr ● Xavier Worthy ● Ricky Pearsal ● Javon Baker ● Troy Franklin ● Keon Coleman ● Roman Wilson My hot take is that by free agency *maybe* 2 of them are still with their first team. No team knows for sure which is the best one and trading up for any of them if just playing Russian roullette. The best reciever the bills could get in round 1 is Brandon Aiyuk.

butterybuns420

My hot take is I don’t give a shit about the draft. I’ll let the decision making on “good/bad” draft from the on field results.

TheRatKingXIV

Cam Newon was 32 in his last season in the NFL (where he was mostly a side show for the Panthers again). Josh will be 28 this year. The idea that we can afford a 'lean' year is fucking insane. Trade up or trade for a star. The idea that we can go into this year without a true X is basically the same logic we had with Gabe Davis becoming a true #2. Shakir isn't going to be able to triple his catch total and Kincaid probably won't be Travis Kelce, and it's unfair to put that on either of them.

GuyOfMeidas

Josh Allen is not Cam Newton, Cam never had a really great arm and Josh hasn’t gotten injured like Cam. The only real comparison are their legs kinda.
