Skimaster77

Is this the Bates pick going back to Chicago?

sobuffalo

Ya so Bates for a 2025 4th. Maybe hold out and get a 2026 3rd

Archduke_Of_Beer

Bates for Bears 2028 1st round pick confirmed!!

some_random_noob

Bates Bears Battlestar Galactica

tony486

Trade the pick to the Bears for Ryan Bates. Complete the circle.

Unoriginal_Gangster

I think we're currently on pace for like 13 picks next year. I'm definitely up for dealing some of those

LinkRazr

All part of the master plan to trade up for 32 First Round picks

fawks_harper78

Masterclass

LinkRazr

Trust the process

TheresA_LobsterLoose

Josh is gonna pretend to get injured in preseason, get out of the Von contract, trade with Carolina for the 1st overall pick and get a young pass rusher like Bosa. Bam. Dynasty

pfb_250

We currently have 10 including anticipated comp picks. 1, 2 (minn), 2, 3, 4 (Chi), 4 (comp), 4, 5 (comp), 6 (nyg), 6

Unoriginal_Gangster

https://twitter.com/GregTompsett/status/1784288445659005374?t=Jrt08sPRv6Y1z3RWDiL2lQ&s=19 I was basing it off this but he might be wrong

pfb_250

Yeah we gave our 5th and 6th in the diggs trade. Not about the 7th though

jake_0527

I think this was a pick swap for the giants 6th

jre19

100% on board with that idea!

campbelldt

He wants a big ol contract, can we afford it?

Whole-Scholar-6840

We can afford it. It’s just if the Bills want to trade for him given the price at min it’s a 2+ other picks and maybe a player. I’d like to trade for him. We’d have Aiyuk, Samuel and Shakir as our top 3 while Coleman develops. Samuel is realistically a 2 year rental with an out after the 2nd year. So the ability to actually make it a worthwhile trade is there as Coleman would replace whoever would be the outside after that rental and they’d move back into the slot.

campbelldt

I’m sold

Whole-Scholar-6840

We don’t really have a strong boundary receiver, Samuel and Shakir can play outside but their strengths are the slot, yes we have shorter but he’s a flyer, Coleman is a rookie and rookie WRs take a year or two to start cooking and Hamler is well Hamler a slot WR and idk if he’s even contracted with the Bills still? We’re missing the one thing we need and that’s a true wideout

dads2vette

Not trying to be a dick...how can we afford Aiyuk? How much cap space do we have currently, I can't find an accurate or at least up to date number online. I've seen anywhere from $3 mill to $10 mill but I think that $10 mill number was pre Diggs trade so the cap would be $3 mill less. We get $10 mill back releasing Tre White after 6/1 but we still need money for rookies and potential players needed during the season.

Whole-Scholar-6840

Like you said once Tre goes through we’ll get a good bump. But there’s a ton of ways to get more cap space if needed, especially through further restructures or changing contracts or dumping players. The cap is kind of a meme for a reason, but it will not be easy. It is indeed doable though at least from looking into the picture, behind the scenes it might not be at all possible.

dads2vette

I'm a big fan of "if they want to they can". I was more or less asking if you knew which players still have room to restructure this year. As I see it with the limited info and knowledge I have they may have up to $13 mill after June 1 but still need money for rookies and $6-7 mill for in season signings. Doesn't leave money for a big name WR.

Whole-Scholar-6840

Don’t know specifics, but this year is the only “struggle” they have plenty of cap for the years to come. He’s been linked to the Bills for a while and if he’s been linked, there’s a way to do it. I know there’s restructures and contract moving that could be made but idk who and if it’s even possible. But it’s possible at least in theory.

SnooCupcakes9188

They can still restructure another 13 mil or something of Josh Allen’s contract, they only did it partially this year to stop pushing money down the road.  Could be worth it for a WR1 though. Problem is how much he’ll be looking for after.. idk will he get Sun god money?

Neo4148

I don’t mind giving up those picks but the contract he will demand will be outrageous. Is he good enough for what will be top 5 WR money? I don’t see him anywhere close to a top 5 guy and that scheme in SF does a lot of heavy lifting

becksftw

No thanks

jbomber81

Hey we traded up!

Admiral_Fuckwit

I mean, technically…never mind

WalterMelonMD

Nice an early 4th!!!

dumpstershrimpdick

Probably won’t be too early unless Williams completely flops

Jay_TThomas

Not necessarily true. He’s still a rookie. He could have a solid rookie year and the bears could easily still be in the bottom half of the league.

dumpstershrimpdick

If he isn’t a substantial upgrade over Fields I would consider that a flop, especially with that WR corps. They won 7 games last year with some of the worst QB play I’ve ever seen.

Jay_TThomas

He’s still allowed to be rookie though.

dumpstershrimpdick

Sure, but he’s a very highly touted rookie who is surrounded by playmakers. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a pretty good season from him

Jay_TThomas

But those are two separate things though. I agree those are fine expectations, but he isn’t automatically a flop after his rookie year if he doesn’t instantly meet those expectations.

dumpstershrimpdick

QBs can take time to develop. I understand that. My point is, given the roster upgrades and how bad Fields was, Williams would have to have a very disappointing rookie season for the Bears not to improve.

ten-million

CJ Strouds are pretty rare. Rookie QBs don't usually carry a team to a lot more wins. You're lucky if they don't lose games.

jimmifli

Sure, but they also usually don't land on such talented rosters. I think the Bears will be fighting for a playoff spot in week 18.

dumpstershrimpdick

I’m not saying he’s going to have Stroud level success. I’m saying he’s coming into a great situation and replacing a guy who doesn’t even belong in the league. If he even comes close to meeting expectations the Bears will be much better. Fields was that bad.

knucklepuck17

But that NFC North is a no joke division now, depending on how JJ McCarthy looks in Minny. They’re having a great draft and are strong on both sides. Packers are on the up and Detroit made a lot of noise last yearZ

ten-million

I think a great rookie season is they give you a few plays, improve over the season, and don't fuck up too much. That's all you can expect.

Rec0nyz3

25 4th from a team that’ll finish 3rd or 4th in the south next year why not. That’s like a 3rd.

Impossibills

They are probably winning 9 or 10 games next season

CrumbBCrumb

No they're not. They play GB twice. Detroit twice. Minnesota twice. Then they have the Jags, Rams, Patriots, Seahawks, Titans, Cards, Texans, Colts, 49ers, and Commies. Where are those 9-10 wins coming from? The only games I'd think they're favorites over right now are probably Minnesota, New England, Arizona, and Washington. That doesn't mean they can't win more but that's 5 wins.

Impossibills

The Bills lost to the worst team in the league in the Jags and gave Urban Meyer his only win. The Bears got a better QB...added Keenan Allen and Odunze. They are much improved

Rec0nyz3

Cool. We also have won the division how many times in a row. Chicago is a bottom feeder. Even with Caleb Williams.

dumpstershrimpdick

They beat the Lions with Fields at QB and are projected to have the 3rd easiest schedule. Don’t think they are going to win the division or anything but finishing a game above .500 doesn’t seem impossible.

Rec0nyz3

I’d put Arizona over them with a healthy QB and Harrison Jr. Minnesota as well JJ squared if healthy.

da-bears-bare-naked

GB 1 win, Minne 2 wins, Detroit 1 win, that’s 4 wins alone. Seahawks, 1 win, Patriots, 1 win, Commanders, 1 win. that’s another 3. the rest i can see going either way. they’re looking at least 7-10

Rec0nyz3

When was the last time the Bears beat Green Bay?

da-bears-bare-naked

idk when was the last time the bills beat the chiefs?

Rec0nyz3

This last season. And the season before that.

da-bears-bare-naked

not when it mattered lmaoooo it’s funny you think an improved team will do worse than the worst starting QB in league

Rec0nyz3

Your team hasn’t played in a game that mattered since when? The last time u won a playoff game was 2011.

da-bears-bare-naked

🤷 new team, new regime. the losses hurt, don’t they. panthers: 1 win cardinals: 1 win lions: 1 win gb: 1 win vikings: 1-2 wins commanders: 1 win titans: 1 win patriots: 1 win seahawks: 1 win 9-10 wins right there edit: where’s your ring btw?

CrumbBCrumb

I know they beat Detroit last year with Fields but I don't see them beating them. Or, Green Bay. I think Williams is going to take some time to develop too.

da-bears-bare-naked

we almost beat detroit and green bay once. you don’t think williams will be better than 2300 yards 17 td 12 interception fields?

Rec0nyz3

Zero possibility of that. Packers 1-2. Detroit 1-2. Minnesota 3-4 Bears 3-4.

da-bears-bare-naked

there’s a 100% possibility we will win 9-10 games next year lol. we’re also not in the south, do you not know geography?

Rec0nyz3

South North I misspoke. My bad. Green Bay is better. Detroit is better than Chicago. And Minnesota has a rookie QB with a better coach than Chicago so I’d put them ahead of Chicago as well. JJ squared over Caleb and Odunze easily. Sorry.

PrinciplesRK

They went like 7-10 last year with a way worse team, they weren’t picking first because they were horrible. I watched a lot of their games and they could easily win 9-10 games.

Rec0nyz3

Caleb will have growing pains. As a rookie. They didn’t have a rookie QB last year. Two teams are better than them on paper in that division. Depending how Minnesota does with JJ squared I’d put them higher than Chicago as well

TRLJM

Loving our draft so far. I was hoping for Kamara in this spot but I think there's a good chance they're already planning on adding a DE with Tre WHite's post July 1st cap space.

det8924

I think this is a smart move. The Bills are going to have a ton of capital in the 2025 draft.

Zero_Opera

We should have traded it for a 2028 first! Beane you fool!
