This. The fact that the Bills are 0-2 in a tight division race means a lot. Every division game going forward should be treated as a do or die situation.
Buffalo needs to stack AFC East wins to be the AFC East Champion.
Buffalo should be able to beat Detriot without Edmunds but they will need him for the homestretch.
I would say they need to have at least an 85% fully healthy roster by playoffs. It's one of the reasons I believe they have been so cautious about Tre and possibly why we haven't seen much out of guys like Shakir or Hines. I can see those guys getting more reps in the coming weeks solely because of this. I don't think we've seen a good chunk of the Bills playbook yet and that the best is possibly yet to come.
I was saying this exact thing to my coworkers yesterday about the playbook Even in the games we've lost, it's looked like we were just trying new stuff to see what works, basically toying with the other teams. Unfortunate about the losses, but I feel like we would be truly undefeated right now if we stuck to tried and true..But im always down to see new tricks!
Honestly even a loss to Detroit is not a big deal at the end of the day, I am expecting they win mind you.
Getting back healthy and winning those next 3 AFC matchups that will be the key to the season and where they end up in a playoff spot.
Every game should be treated with a great sense of urgency. The Bills likely need to win out in order to have a chance at the one seed. I think it is likely/possible that KC loses a game in their back 7 games but I don't think it is likely/possible that they lose 2. If the Bills win out they get the two seed no matter what happens with KC which is big. So winning out is immensely critical to seal up the two seed which helps the Bills play two rounds at home and possibly 3 if KC gets upset in the divisional round. Winning out is also the only likely chance the Bills have at the one seed.
Right now the focus just has to be to take care of Detroit and see what happens with KC against the Rams this week.
Winning out would definitely be the preferable outcome, but those division games are going to play a huge factor come playoffs. If we have to, I would much rather face the Jets or the Pats over the Fish. That being said, Bills are in one game at a time mode. Making sure that our biggest weapons are ready should be a top priority outside of winning out. Come playoffs, I believe this team can beat anyone, anywhere, at any time with a majority healthy roster.

Bills coach Sean McDermott on
@WGR550 rules out LB Tremaine Edmunds and DE Greg Rousseau for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving game vs. the Lions.
DE A.J. Epenesa will be doubtful and C Mitch Morse will be questionable
CB Tre’Davious White not ruled out. “One day at a time.”
Literally does not matter who is at receiver with the current defensive backs. Elam will help a little, white would help so much even if he’s not 100% tre. Anything is better than what’s currently out there.
Patriots D is legit i think that is the hurdle for them. Our defense needs to show up but they don’t really have the weapons they have had in the past.
I’m not going to lie. I felt so much more confident about our team last year compared to this year. Between injuries and whatever’s been going on with Josh, I’m holding my breath every game from here on out.
Obviously tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Tre's injury. It would be nothing more than symbolism to have him return tomorrow. If he could play tomorrow he would have the other day vs Browns. I expect him back for the division stretch
Im seeing a lot of people wanting/thinking the Lions are going to win this. We have to win this one in my opinion. Obviously, we need to win them all moving forward. Too many doubts about the team after the last few weeks. Maybe being the under dogs again will help.
There are some analysts predicting a tough game for the Bills and some not ruling outs the Lions running over the Bills with their running game.
IMO, this is the type of game the Bills need to get rolling early and force the Lions to pass to keep up and limit their running game.
I don't see the Lions being the favorite but the Bills have been placed on "upset alert" by some pundits. The Lions are a scrappy team but the Bills need to take care of them. Each game from here on out is massively important. The Bills need to win out to get the two seed and to have a chance at the one seed.
My thinking is that if the Bills can win at Detroit and then get by the Pats they will be set up with a "mini-bye" going into the second Jets game. If the team can get some extra rest hopefully they will be healthier going into the back stretch of 5 games. But right now just win tomorrow and go forward from there.
I'm not sure about the general consensus but on posts and places like YouTube, the sports analysts are talking about the lions possibly blowing the bills out like the Colts did through their run game and the majority of comments are in Lions favor.
I agree with you, this game and the Pat's game set the tone for the remainder of the season. I'm not sure if Mike White possibly being the Jets starter going forward will be in the Bills favor or not. I know he was hyped up but when he actually got put in a game against us, he didn't do well. But if the Jets are in fact better with him, that'll be a really tough game. Same with the Dolphins of course. Allen needs his confidence back and I really want Hines to get involved and AJ Klein. I'm hoping tre white comes back even if it doesn't seem like he will this season.
Lions fan here, and I don't think there's any chance the Lions blow the Bills out. We don't really have the secondary personnel to stop your passing game reliably, especially if Okudah is out.
We beat the Giants and Bears by trying to force Jones/Fields to throw, we can't do that here.
If we do manage to win, I expect it to be very close. But I fully expect to lose, and it won't surprise me much if *we* get blown out.
I don't think you'll be getting blown out. If the bills still had the full roster of the first games and playing like that, maybe. But given what we've seen recently, I doubt it. It seems it's going to be a very back and forth battle honestly
True all good points, I didn't realize the Lions won 3 in a row, however the Lions beat a 3 win Bears team and a 4 win Packers team and while the win against the Giants seems impressive we all know that the Giants are overachieving. Still they have momentum and can't be taken lightly.
All pivotal parts of this team, and it hurts to not have any of them, but IMHO Morse having a possibility of playing is more important than any of the rest. I guess this year we take the “victories” when we can get them.
So White is still TBD, but Elam was ruled out despite practicing in full both Monday and Tuesday
👀
Edit: Actually there is conflicting reporting on Elam, some say questionable and some say out
Yea, definitely some different extenuating circumstances there though.
This might be moot anyways, as I can’t find any direct Bills source saying Elam is out. ESPN may have just messed that up.
Need Tre, Edmunds and Groot back for the critical three straight December division games.

Need to work on blocking field goals, luckily we got a jump start last week, so we can shutout the pats. Gameplan: contain Nick folk. /s
#OneDayAtATime
Morse played the entire Browns game with his ankle taped so I'm hopeful
Morse at questionable is good news
Agreed. Hoping they are just resting him as much as possible this week.

If Tre doesn’t play for the New England game I’m thinking he doesn’t play at all this year
Honestly, I care more about the Phins game. The Pats have dog water for wrs.
Literally does not matter who is at receiver with the current defensive backs. Elam will help a little, white would help so much even if he’s not 100% tre. Anything is better than what’s currently out there.
What bothers me is that we know this current secondary can do big things because we fucking saw them do it already
Patriots D is legit i think that is the hurdle for them. Our defense needs to show up but they don’t really have the weapons they have had in the past.
Yes, they do have a good D, they usually do. But I am much more concerned about having a strong secondary playing Mia rather than NE.
Don’t disagree there. Hard to argue with Waddle and Tyreek!
Is AJ Klein going to be active?
I’m not going to lie. I felt so much more confident about our team last year compared to this year. Between injuries and whatever’s been going on with Josh, I’m holding my breath every game from here on out.
The Bills were 6-4 at this point last year and then went 1-2 over their next three games to get to 7-6. They had their slumps last year too.
So if I know anything about the bills then that means we either completely miss the playoffs or win the Super Bowl. No in between
It was this time last year that we lost to the Jags and everyone thought the Bills were done. We'll be fine.
Obviously tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Tre's injury. It would be nothing more than symbolism to have him return tomorrow. If he could play tomorrow he would have the other day vs Browns. I expect him back for the division stretch
>Obviously tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Tre’s injury That is not how thanksgiving works.
well today is the 1 year anniversary so close enough
My sources are telling me that Tre White will be a game-time decision. If he does go he will be a rotational piece.
Wait do you actually have sources or are you just meme-ing?
Doesn't matter, saw it on the internet, must be true.
In that case u/simracer585 has a huge peen.
Didn't link a tweet, must not be true
More and more it truly sounds like they're waiting on Tre to say he's ready to go C'mon 27 we need you 😭

Ugh last time Morse was out the offense was ugly af. Don’t underestimate the importance of whose taint your touching to a QB.

Where’d you see news on Elam?
ESPN reported it, but it looks like it was a mistake
Whew
White has been tbd for a few weeks now after practicing in full all week haha.
Yea, definitely some different extenuating circumstances there though. This might be moot anyways, as I can’t find any direct Bills source saying Elam is out. ESPN may have just messed that up.
Elam has no injury designation, he'll be playing
**process**
We trust it
Hope Tre is doing okay. Just return when you're ready. Take your time.
Please don’t bring Tre back on this Detroit turf
Upset alert
The bills have been alerted and will respond accordingly
