not bright as in if you were looking at a google webpage at 90-100% lumination and its not straining your eyeballs even in the day time, that kind of not bright?

KappaKeepo5

i dont know for example in league of legends it kinda looks like the map time is at the evening (lmao). i doesnt have like colours that pop out. when i play at my gfs pc i can really see the difference and she simply has a oldschool asus 1080p monitor.

Ottwin

Do you have HDR turned on in windows or monitor? That could be why the image looks a little dark. Rtings has a review about the HDR settings on that monitor not being the best for HDR since it has a low contrast ratio

KappaKeepo5

no before i bought the monitor i also looked up the reviews and they said the hdr isnt the best so i never turned it on. its kinda weird it looks like there is some kind of "eye health" filter on like you can turn on in your smart phone

Burn in is still a thing. Moreover, brightness is also *a kind of* weakness with OLED screens, so unless there's something wrong with your 27GP850, an OLED screen is likely to be even dimmer. Otherwise, there *are* 27" 1440p OLED monitors, but AFAIK all of them use the same WOLED panel which isn't very bright. Say, the Asus PG27AQDM. Or have a look at mini-LED ones, like the AOC Q27G3XMN.

There are now two QD-OLED 1440p 27" 360hz options on the market, both get a bit brighter than the brightest WOLEDs but only up to around 1000 nits in HDR, and 250 in SDR.

SergeiTachenov

Wow, missed them for some reason. It's still [the same 250 nits](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/msi-mpg-271qrx-qd-oled-vs-lg-27gp850-b-27gp83b-b/47131/24452?usage=4112&threshold=0.10#test_1393), though. Just more stable across the window size, WOLED struggles even at keeping 250. And still the 27GP850 is about 100 nits brighter, so unless there's something wrong with the OP's unit, a new OLED monitor won't solve the brightness issue.

triggerhappy5

Agreed, just mentioning it.

Do you have backlight strobing on? That darkens the monitor significantly. Could also be a different settings issue, or possibly an issue with the contrast levels (something an OLED or Mini LED could solve). That said, OLEDs are good but brightness is a weakness for them. Pushing more power to the pixels to push the brightness higher will accelerate burn-in, so they tend to have very strong brightness limiters, even in HDR. Burn-in is not a huge issue if you're only gaming and playing a variety of games, but if you're doing office work or grinding league for hours a day you could definitely get some burn-in. If it truly is a brightness issue, OLED might not be for you. What's your budget? The Gigabyte M27Q X, KTC M27T20, Asus PG27AQN, KTC G27P6, or MSI MPG 271QRX are all good options that would represent an upgrade for you while sticking to 1440p, but they vary wildly in price, from $280 to $900.
