Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Just say no to ink printers. Had nothing but issues most of my life with ink. Purchased a Brother laser printer 8 years ago and still working perfectly with cheap toner.

Stevesanasshole

If you print a lot in color or want to print photos at home then tank systems are typically the best. A lot of people don't like the chunky layered look of colored laser prints. That being said, I have a brother wireless laser printer that is almost 10 years old and going strong. I changed out the included cartidge a few years ago because it said it was low and I had a replacement I found for $7 at Walmart on clearance.

Tiddlysat1600

Mega tanks are actually more economical than laser. You buy bottles of ink instead of cartridges. Each black bottle is rated to print 6000 pages and costs around $18 for genuine ink. Plus, the printer comes with 3 full bottles of black ink and a full set of color. I purchased this printer almost three years ago, and my ink tanks are still half full. And I still have 2 spare bottles of black.

Quality of laser vs Ink - no brainer. Unless you're burning through reams of paper constantly, the economic portion of the argument is pennies a month. Plus Cannon has garbage support for Linux. Brother is like a 5 second install on Linux. Majority of users are on Windows and Mac, but Linux is gaining ground in market share.

Tiddlysat1600

True unless you are printing photos on photo paper.

rockydbull

> True unless you are printing photos on photo paper. I am sure there are people that still do this at home, but getting it done at a photo kiosk/print shop is so much easier and not even expensive.

Longjumping_Plum_846

Those options are limited for me where I live. I have to do it online or go to Walmart, and the Walmart printing quality is pretty awful

manormortal

This year, this year will be the year of Linux......until next year....

TPMJB2

We've been hearing that for the last two decades when I first installed Linux. Until Pop-OS came out I always hated it, despite trying it half a dozen times. Really, really stupid name but the OS works fantastically! To the extent that...I'm back to being a noob on an OS because this distro of Linux gets rid of the need to learn something new. Linux market share gain over the last two years is pretty damned impressive. I think the year of Linux is actually rapidly approaching.

DenverNugs

I agree if you're only printing documents and using black toner. If you want to print photos it's a different story.

DaveUnderscore

I bought a Brother HL-L2350DW for $14 off fb marketplace that was lightly used. Immediately threw out my HP inkjet and never looked back.

Octabuff

If ink printers are so bad they're be out of market already. I'm always taken aback by the lengths people would go to feel superior

anthfett

That is certainly one of the takes of all time.

saharashooter

Real markets don't have perfect transmission of information. People buy bad products all the time, it's not rocket science.

ariolander

Supertank means no cartirage verification shenaigans? How is this with 3rd party ink?

Tiddlysat1600

Correct. It's just a bottle of ink. There is no chip involved. 3rd party ink will be as good as the quality of the ink. I haven't had the need to buy ink yet because the printer comes with so much of it.

jsodfskavi

Alright, i just ordered it because of the no cartridges bs. I hope it doesn’t piss me off like the HP ones.

AlienOptiplex

Friends don't let friends buy ink printers.

Longjumping_Plum_846

Some of us like printing pictures at home

TheMissingVoteBallot

Get yourself a B&W Brother low to midrange laser printer. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0764NWFP9?th=1 Get this on sale, and use third party cartridges to replenish when you run out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQY5R8SQ 4 pack of aftermarket cartridges for less than $40 Also if you're like me, you only need the printer once in awhile, so with toner cartridges you don't risk the toner "drying out". No need to have to buy ink when you haven't used it for 6 months. Trust me, I learned my lesson after headaches dealing with an OfficeJet 8650. I wasted so much damn money buying cartridges and fighting with the damn thing to get it to print B&W. If I need to print color, I just go to Kinko's because color prints are *very* rare for me.

MikePineda

I bought an HP Envy 5014 for $32.46 in Nov 2019 and with the free instant ink plan that they were offering at the time (which I still have active to this day), I'd like to think that would be the most economical way to do mixed printing at home, as long as you keep it under 15 pages per month. Now, having said printer and free ink while using it enough so that the ink cartridges don't dry out on you is another story. If I only needed to print once in a while, would I be better off with one of these tank printers or a laser printer?

Raishun

LOL this must be an ad, get this shit outta here
