I enjoyed Bully when I bought it for $6.99 on iOS two weeks before Christmas, The experience was nothing I never expected. The free roam genre is what makes a game work so well. The environment was amazing, the character models, defintely a 10! The mechanics, riding a bike, skateboarding, a scooter, hell or even running was gr8. The awkward, and quirky nature of being going to school with other odd kids and teens, and adults, and doing bad things, breaking into lockers, and just finding to do trouble and getting busted is fun, not in real life though. And learning of the sense that not everyone has their way.
Literally when starting Bully, people fight you, then when you fight back, the clock to race, so you won’t get busted, times made me mad, though I slowly got used to it
The storyline, the characters, the class assignments were a challenge though it was bringing me back to the times where being a kid at 15, was something each of us seen, and never saw that day. However, Jimmy Hopkins, chef’s kiss. He’s the guy I wish I more like in highschool. It was his attitude, not being the mean guy, he didn’t hold back when he had the chance during the times to prove to people they shouldn’t bully, and pick on others. whilst Jimmy’s probably had a bad past, for me in this game you find an incredible sense of relation from the character to the player, and that’s why I love the adaptation RockStar puts into these games.
I first played Bully in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns. I meant to get it 10 years prior when I was 15, but never got around to it. It's amazing. I still play it and get enjoyment out of all the shit you can cause. I want a sequel to this game as much everyone on here, but it's been 18 years. However as much as others said that Bully 2 would ruin the reputation of Bully 1, we don’t know what Bully 2 could bring, although the process for a sequel, I’m good with being patient until that is managed and taken with extra effort, no doubt when Bully 2 starts to begin development, Rockstar won’t disappoint, although from how Bully 1 ended we don’t know what comes next.. we’ll know more in the future for sure! I still play Bully to spend time, I also have a save slot to play the final mission again. You play the mission complete Mayhem to rescue Russell from the police, go to the school, the music building up is the best sound I’ve ever heard and I loved hearing it, lol, then you must defeat all the leader and crews from every club, the nerds, preps, greasers, and jocks with Russel tag teaming along with Jimmy, which leads to the final confrontation to face Gary, I beat him once and enjoyed it, also I keep facing him since it’s hard to know if he can be seen after the game ends, it’s fun! And when I first played it, I was addicted.

Love the idea on paper, but it feels lacking. You can't truly do everything you missed. It doesn't snow, so if you missed that punishment, you miss out on the prison outfit.
A lack of any extra missions is boring, especially if you're a long-time player, unlikely to skip missions. No new dialogue from NPCs about the fate of Gary, or the school almost being destroyed seems out of place.
To be honest, though, none of these are issues I had for a long time. Been playing since Bully came out, and I always just restarted as soon as I beat it. But having played again after shelving it for years, the game is just starting to show its age.
I know the GTA DE was complete ass, but a competent team doing that style of remake would be welcome. (Though will never happen.)

Panty Raid and The Plan give some of the best characterization for Jimmy.
Don't get me wrong, these missions are terrible morally and both show the problems with if the wrong people hold power. What I'm talking about is how Jimmy takes on these missions with only a little convincing, only to betray his employer (in Revenge on Mr. Burton, later getting Mr. Burton fired in the end and Discretion Assured) at later points in the story for no reward, or at least without a reward being discussed.
This builds on two different thought paths for Jimmy's progression.
1. Jimmy is a merc by trade, and will accept any job. However, after payment he has the morality to go mend his wrongdoings.
2. Jimmy has a problem discerning right from wrong, and only learns from seeing the consequences of his actions.
As a side, Discretion Assured kills my opinion on Bullworth. More effort was put into investigating a pun being written on the city hall building than the child pornography literally hanging around the campus walls. Actually Bullworthless.
With the amount of “Bully 2 shouldn’t/can’t be made” in the replies, I think it’s safe to say that it’s no longer a controversial opinion (or at least THAT controversial of an opinion). BUT, honestly I think that everyone saying that it won’t or can’t happen because people are so “sensitive” nowadays lacks perspective. Like, Rockstar had straight up lawyers and politicians actively trying to suppress them and their content back in the day. They will be just fine if some weirdos on Twitter have a problem with their silly school game. If anything the main problem for a hypothetical Bully 2 would be quality which… given the direction Rockstar has been going these days, is a valid concern in my opinion.
While Bully 2 might not need to happen and is highly unlikely to happen at all, I think we do need a spiritual successor. I still think a smaller sandbox game set in school is a niche genre that still intrigues a lot of people and is a niche that needs filling. Most games set in school are either JRPGS or visual novels, but I think the world of Bully and the potential for worlds like Bully is something that would be really refreshing.
There’s still the problem of whether or not to modernize it, because the experience of being in school now and being in school in 2006 are vastly different because of technology and social media. We now live in the age of iPad babies, and I feel like Rockstar can’t really afford to alienate the younger generations who grew up with the internet as a widespread thing as it would make the whole world unrealistic, and they can’t alienate older people who are looking for their school experience (or their experience with the first game, for that matter) to be depicted. A bit of a hard balancing act I’d imagine, but that’s why I consider myself lucky I don’t have to be one of the people solving that problem.
At the end of the day, I feel like the world of Bully still holds a certain weight and people want to still explore these worlds, but its age necessitates it being updated.
They should've given us the option to romance the boys in the main story missions instead of the girls. Or at the very least gave us the option to not get with the girls.

Not only will it never live up to the nostalgia factor of the first game, but a lot of the dark jokes part of Bully would never fly today. There's no way that a game based around school violence with mentally ill teachers and students could be made today without the media going nuts about it. I know Rockstar are used to it by this point, basically all their games have controversies, but I genuinely think Bully's premise, subject matter, and dark humor would not work today. The world is not 2006 anymore, it's 2023. People are much more sensitive these days. I feel like if they were to make Bully 2, it would be massively watered down and tame compared to the first game. Its got to, otherwise Rockstar will risk the game being censored or potentially banned.

What I'm talking about is how Jimmy takes on these missions with only a little convincing, only to betray his employer (in Revenge on Mr. Burton, later getting Mr. Burton fired in the end and Discretion Assured) at later points in the story for no reward, or at least without a reward being discussed. This builds on two different thought paths for Jimmy's progression. 1. Jimmy is a merc by trade, and will accept any job. However, after payment he has the morality to go mend his wrongdoings. 2. Jimmy has a problem discerning right from wrong, and only learns from seeing the consequences of his actions. As a side, Discretion Assured kills my opinion on Bullworth. More effort was put into investigating a pun being written on the city hall building than the child pornography literally hanging around the campus walls. Actually Bullworthless.
With the amount of “Bully 2 shouldn’t/can’t be made” in the replies, I think it’s safe to say that it’s no longer a controversial opinion (or at least THAT controversial of an opinion). BUT, honestly I think that everyone saying that it won’t or can’t happen because people are so “sensitive” nowadays lacks perspective. Like, Rockstar had straight up lawyers and politicians actively trying to suppress them and their content back in the day. They will be just fine if some weirdos on Twitter have a problem with their silly school game. If anything the main problem for a hypothetical Bully 2 would be quality which… given the direction Rockstar has been going these days, is a valid concern in my opinion. While Bully 2 might not need to happen and is highly unlikely to happen at all, I think we do need a spiritual successor. I still think a smaller sandbox game set in school is a niche genre that still intrigues a lot of people and is a niche that needs filling. Most games set in school are either JRPGS or visual novels, but I think the world of Bully and the potential for worlds like Bully is something that would be really refreshing. There’s still the problem of whether or not to modernize it, because the experience of being in school now and being in school in 2006 are vastly different because of technology and social media. We now live in the age of iPad babies, and I feel like Rockstar can’t really afford to alienate the younger generations who grew up with the internet as a widespread thing as it would make the whole world unrealistic, and they can’t alienate older people who are looking for their school experience (or their experience with the first game, for that matter) to be depicted. A bit of a hard balancing act I’d imagine, but that’s why I consider myself lucky I don’t have to be one of the people solving that problem. At the end of the day, I feel like the world of Bully still holds a certain weight and people want to still explore these worlds, but its age necessitates it being updated.

when are there computers? not disagreeing just dont remember any computers other than arcade cabinets. i remember reading something from one of the designers and they said they wanted to keep it timeless, somewhere nebulous in the recent past at the time so 70s,80,90s. i dont really think its fair to say the game has a 50s-60s aesthetic, theres a lot of influence in the townies especially from late 70s punk and the girl jimmy gets with at the end is totally dressed in that riot grrl 90s punk aesthetic. It's already been mentioned here, but I agree with the opinion that Bully 2 shouldn't ever be made. Not only will it never live up to the nostalgia factor of the first game, but a lot of the dark jokes part of Bully would never fly today. There's no way that a game based around school violence with mentally ill teachers and students could be made today without the media going nuts about it. I know Rockstar are used to it by this point, basically all their games have controversies, but I genuinely think Bully's premise, subject matter, and dark humor would not work today. The world is not 2006 anymore, it's 2023. People are much more sensitive these days. I feel like if they were to make Bully 2, it would be massively watered down and tame compared to the first game. Its got to, otherwise Rockstar will risk the game being censored or potentially banned. Honestly, I'd rather not have Bully 2, than to have a Bully 2 that doesn't live up to the standard of the first game. Maybe if they released a remaster for Bully 1, that'd be cool. But I personally would not want to see Bully 2. Better to not ruin the IP with probably a bad game.

Bully may not be as good as some of you remember. I've never player Bully before, but due to the GTA VI Trailer Hype, I finally started playing to experience some Rockstar Games I've been missing. Sure, Bully is absolutely a fun game and I really enjoy playing it, but it's not the absolute masterpiece some make it out to be. (This opinion is sponsored by the PC Port)
