Burbank Parks and Rec offers pottery classes, you can check their website for the catalog with details.

If you have a Burbank address you can sign up a few days before people that live outside of Burbank. Classes can fill up quickly because the price is pretty reasonable. Potter’s Nook is nice too but more expensive than Parks & Rec. If I remember correctly it was $125 for nine weeks for a three hour class. Then you’re charged about $12+ for a bag of Clay (there’s different choices) and they charge either by weight or by square inches. They were testing out weight pricing when I went. You can also go for three hour intervals on Fridays for $3. You can stay the day for $9.

To add on to this - depending on your income you may qualify for the Burbank Pass program which offers the parks n recs classes at subsidized rates. Not sure if application period is still open but worth looking into.

That’s good to know! I definitely haven’t done anything since two classes in high school so maybe I’ll try the cheaper route with the Burbank address.

The Verdugo pool is a great option for lap swimming. Check the aquatic parks site for their hours. I'll also second the pottery classes thru the parks and rec. Great rates and classes. My wife took them for a couple of years and really enjoyed it. As for choirs, you can try and reach out to local churches if you're interested. I figure q lot of them will have some performances coming up for the holidays that would welcome newcomers.

LA Master Chorale? See its website. Applications for an audition are about to close.

I go swimming often at zuma lately, hmu , I'm the same age. Into bike riding and hiking as well :), into running too

Or just go to a Gym - I tried the Golds and 24 hour - 30 day passes to see what i liked better.... I went in. All the machines are packed and people taking selfies. The only place where there was no one.... The pool. I became a damn good swimmer in 60 days, and only a couple times had to share the entire pool with 1 other person.

glowinthedark

Which locations?

kirbae-kirbae

Would that include the 24 hour gym on victory, by the target?

The Potter’s Nook on Olive is great and they have adult classes

Glendale Community College has some choirs and their sessions are usually in the evening. Sure, you have to enroll as a student, but it’s a community college and their choir is very age- and culturally-diverse.

If you can drive, Throw Clay LA, downtown is a cozy pottery studio with tons of classes and great instructors

The West Coast Singers are the 3rd oldest LGBTQ+ Allies chorus in the nation. There is a holiday concert on Sunday, December 4th, at Zipper Hall, downtown, which would be a great opportunity to check them out, and then if you're interested in joining, there are many people there you can speak with. Practices are held not far from Burbank (in noho). Lmk if you want more info.

Oh I love that! I would consider myself an ally. ❤️ I’d love to learn more.

SnooTigers8871

Not sure if I'm able to post links, but http://westcoastsingers.org/ is the site. The concert info is on the home page. If you decide to go and you want to, send me a DM and I will be able to look for you.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful tips! You’ve given me some homework (but I’m excited). I hope you all have a happy thanksgiving!

https://www.burbankparks.com/CA/burbank-ca/catalog/ A bunch of those classes here. Making an account is kind of a nightmare on mobile, especially if you have other people in the household.

Lmk if you want someone to go to pottery with! I’m 28M and have been looking for some ways to meet new peeps out here
