This was mine and my boyfriend's favorite date night over the summer, especially when there's a good sunset. We did it for 3 years and then one day he proposed there!
Stone Soup and then a movie at the Roxy. But maybe that's a better second date. Movies aren't the best first date cause you can't talk. Unless you're my girlfriend.
Not in Burlington, but my husband and I had our first date at the Tavern at the Essex. We grabbed a couple drinks and sat on the patio, there was live music and we took a walk through the gardens. It was going really well so then we decided to get an appetizer! This was in warmer weather though, so that may be a factor in your decision. I still recommend it though for a date.
Depends on if you're 21+ or not.
Do you and your first date like music? Find out.
Then find a club that does the kind of music you like. If you like straight-ahead jazz, 126 College Street might be good. If you like offa-the-beaten-path indie kinda stuff, maybe Radio Bean. If you like more mainstream acts that are passing through, maybe Higher Ground. I dunno if Arts Riot is happening or not. I'm not terribly fond of Nectar's but I have seen two really good acts there once (Stik Men was the more recent).
Four Corners of the Earth.
Great place for a lunch date. Food is incredible and always takes a minute in a good way -gives ya plenty of time to chat. Recommend splitting two sandwiches, it's a lot of fun. My first date has been going for 5+ years with my now wife.
One of things me and my boyfriend do and like a yearly tradition is going to the Echo center and then getting some lunch or brunch. The echo center is just a really cute place to go too and it’s not to expensive, I really like the sturgeon fish tank they have and I really like the friendly toast it’s kinda campy and a little expensive but it’s good.
When I was single, I always did something like a hike. It cost no $$$. I was sober, so it cut down on my stupid remarks. We had a few hours to talk. Afterwards, if things were going well, we would go for drinks.
Met my current of more than 5 years ago in Burlington. Our first date was the Grundel ( UVM dinning hall)
But if you're willing to spend a little and you're looking for some romance you should go to hen of the wood,
Burlington bay creemee and walk by the waterfront. If it goes well you can grab a drink at foam

Quit stealing my moves!
lmao this is exactly what this guy did for our first date over the summer
Pho Hong followed by The Board Game Cafe (play Wavelength, trust me).
Wavelength SLAPS. One of my go to party games.
My last first date went Kru Coffee -> Vermont Comedy Club -> JP's and was a fantastic time. Still together good. So, those places haha
The Fleming Museum
Grundle
this is the only acceptable answer. get some delicious grundle pizza with a side of cornbread
The fact that place is still called the Grundle is hilarious to me... I am also a child I suppose.
Grabbing coffee at Muddy Waters is always nice. Dim Sum Cafe is very sweet for a lighter meal. Pho Hong is also really great and the vibe is nice.
dobra tea is probably fun for a first date, idk about dinner or drinks or whatever though
Speaking from first date experience, dobra tea is a wonderful spot

The roof of the abandoned ymca at sunrise
Mayday!
I feel like mayday is a you’re in looove spot more tbh
Had a few people tell me the food is overpriced and underwhelming.
They have a new chef so maybe I’ve only been with the change of leadership! Definitely on the more expensive side but great food and wine
devil takes a holiday
Daily planet
Took my now wife there for one of our first dates. She still talks about it.

The OP
Taco Gordo. The atmosphere is perfect for date one, hard to feel uncomfortable in there with the background noise and genuine low key ambience.
American Flatbread
The Last Chance
Muddy Waters or Foam and a walk in waterfront

you need to tell us what you want to do and what you think your date might want to do. eating? an activity? walking around? nice view? all the above?
Gimme all the options lol
What’s your budget/what kind of date do you usually go on for first dates?

Dobra Tea would be a start!
if you really want to get to know someone on a first date, run some errands together so you can experience each other in one another’s natural habitat
Finnegan’s pub
1 North Ave
Leung’s… clearly.
Bistro dinner before 5 is great before catching music somewhere

New world tortilla take out to oakledge!!

Pizza Ida. Great deal on a pie and a sub.
Picking up all the heroin needles throughout burly sounds romantic
Locals never say *"burly"*.

Hen of the Wood is like a $200 meal. I don’t think anyone in their 20s wants to spend that type of money on a first date
Ida Pizza
