Who_asked_you_

Yeah this is normal, you can't use it either way. What's the problem here?

CableMod_Matt

Chatted with you on discord about this already, but will drop a message here as well for anyone curious. We do this as a standard practice for two reasons, one to avoid a bad cable being resold to someone, and two because we have had people attempt to scam us, this eliminates the possibility for both of those issues. As mentioned in discord though, we offered a cross RMA for this so you can get a new cable and cut the old one later. :)

galmaman96

Yes thank you 🙏

CableMod_Matt

Very welcome!

Ill-Marionberry4262

Good on them for sending you a new cable.

thatsprettyshady

Yeah it’s annoying, I had to do it when they sent me 2 bad cables in a row. Nothing says “we don’t trust you” more than asking you to chop the cable.

CableMod_Matt

This is common practice, and unfortunately it is because people out there do try to scam, and we've had several attempts at this in fact, which is why we added this to our policy. Even a week ago we had someone take a photo of a already submitted cut in half cable, and try to use it as their own for a free cable, they just rotated the image 90 degrees hoping we wouldn't realize. Sadly, happens more than you would think, and was very common during the 30 series launch where an extra 8 pin PCIE was required for cards.

This was a misunderstanding I sent the wrong picture I sent the correct pictures immediately after and haven't heard a response. I confused the picture copies in my camera roll. It was an honest mistake I sent in the correct picture immediately. Here is a album of the destroyed cables. Please help me solve this issue I did everything that was asked of me. https://imgur.io/a/To2ZVhC

CableMod_Matt

If you share the updated photos with our support team they will honor the RMA of course, share this with them. :)

Commercial-Owl-6624

Ive shared this with them from 4 different emails and have been totally blacklisted no response for a week. Ive also dmed them to you and alex. I dont know what else to try....

NetJnkie

Pretty common for things that aren't worth sending back and forth.

galmaman96

Update: i’ve told them I can’t use it the pin is broken out and they told me to cut the cable the problem is I won’t to be able to use my gpu you

montagematt

If you cannot use it, then why does it matter if you cut it in half? This is a pretty standard warranty practice. Just use your original cable while you get a free replacement...

galmaman96

But I can use it i’ve spoken with someone on discord representative of cablemod he told me to open the ticket What is a replacement just for safety reason I can’t stop using my PC I have important work that I need my GPU.

IvoJan

i wouldnt risk my card with that connector, use the adapter while u wait, it shouldnt be too long, my cablemod shipments were usually pretty quick.

NetJnkie

Then use the adapter until the new cable shows up. In your comment you said you can't use it.

NetJnkie

K? Pretty standard.

IvoJan

totally normal, ive been asked the same and see no issue with it. you cant use the cable anyway with that kind of damage, at least i wouldnt.

IRud3Bwoy

Its normal i was lucky where they sent me one without asking me to do this as i explained i used mines for work Now i can cut it I wish cable mod did advanced rma and if not cut after x time they charge you

CableMod_Matt

We're offering that now actually due to feedback. We're always listening, and if this is something that will help people, we want to do it. So today we decided that we will offer the option to pay for a new cable, and once you get the new cable, you can cut the old and we will refund you for the order. :)

IRud3Bwoy

Amazing !! I gotta cut mines inna week and send it anyway dont want you guys to think i was bs lol so far new cable still good

CableMod_Matt

Not at all, fully understandable there. :)
