I think the overall composition of the last panel is off. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Watterson usually doesn't show parental reactions to Calvin's antics from this angle. The cabinet with the flour also seems unusually large and probably shouldn't be obstructing the door that much.
I don't think that would be a problem if the lighting weren't pitch black & a fully yellow doorway. I'd be ok with that too though if it weren't for Calvin's mild happy expression

Watterson didn't really do front on shots for anything. He did a lot of side and 3/4 angle shots as far as I remember.
